The objective of this paper is to study the deformation in a homogeneous isotropic thermoelastic solid using modified couple stress theory subjected to ramp-type thermal source with two temperature. The advantage of this theory is the involvement of only one material length scale parameter which can determine the size effects. Laplace and Fourier transform technique is applied to obtain the solutions of the governing equations. The components of displacement, conductive temperature, stress components and couple stress are obtained in the transformed domain. A numerical inversion technique has been used to obtain the solutions in the physical domain. The effect of two temperature is depicted graphically on the resulted quantities. Numerical results show that the proposed model can capture the size effects of microstructures.
This work deals with the two-dimensional deformation in a homogeneous isotropic nonlocal magneto-thermoelastic solid with two temperatures under the effects of inclined load at different inclinations. The mathematical model has been formulated by subjecting the bounding surface to a concentrated load. The Laplace and Fourier transform techniques have been used for obtaining the solution to the problem in transformed domain. The expressions for nonlocal thermal stresses, displacements and temperature are obtained in the physical domain using a numerical inversion technique. The effects of nonlocal parameter, rotation and inclined load in the physical domain are depicted and illustrated graphically. The results obtained in this paper can be useful for the people who are working in the field of nonlocal thermoelasticity, nonlocal material science, physicists and new material designers. It is found that there is a significant difference due to presence and absence of nonlocal parameter.
In the present work, a microelogated thermoelastic model based on Lord-Shulman (1967) and Green-Lindsay (1972) theories of thermoelasticity has been constructed. The governing equations for the simulated model are converted into two-dimensional case and made dimensionless for further simplification. Laplace and Hankel transforms followed by eigen value approach has been employed to solve the problem. The use of eigen value approach hasthe advantage of finding the solution of governing equationsin matrix form notations. This approach is straight forward and convenient for numerical computation and avoids the complicate nature of the problem. The components of displacement, stress and temperature distribution are obtained in the transformed domain. Numerical inversion techniques have been used to invert the resulting quantities in the physical domain. Graphical representation of the resulting quantities for describing the effect of microelongation are presented. A special case is also deduced from the present investigation. The problem find application in many engineering problems like thick-walled pressure vesselsuch as a nuclear containment vessel, a cylindricalroller etc.
Deformation analysis of injection molded articles whose geometry is considered as the assembly of thin flat plates has been conducted. For the in-mold analysis, thermo-viscoelastic stress calculation of thermo-rheologically simple amorphous polymer and in-mold deformation calculation considering the in-plane mold constraint have been done. Free volume theory has been used to represent the non-equilibrium density state during the fast cooling. At ejection, instantaneous deformation takes place due to the redistribution of in-mold residual stress. During out-of-mold cooling after ejection, thermoelastic model based on the effective temperature has been adopted for the calculation of out-of-mold deformation. In this study, emphasis is also made on the treatment with regard to lateral constraint types during molding process. Two typical mold geometries are used to test the numerical simulation modeling developed in this study.
Finite element analysis is performed for transient thermal deformation of a shadow mask inside the Braun tube and the landing shift or mislanding of the electronic beam is calclated. The shadow mask has numerous slits through which the electronic beams are guided to land on the designed phosphor. Its thermal deformations therefore cause the mislanding of the electronic beam and result in decolorization of a screen. For realistic finite element analysis, firstly the effective thermal conductivity and the effective elastric modulus are calculated, and the shadow mask is modeled as shell without slits. Next the nonlinear finite element formulation is developed for transient heat transfer on the shadow mask, wherein thermal radiation is a major heat transfer mechanism. Analysis of the resulting thermoelastic deformations is followed, from which the mislanding of the electronic beam is obtained. The present finite element scheme may be efficiently used for thermal deformation design of a shadow mask.
When the brakes of a vehicle are applied, large amounts of heat are generated on the surfaces of the brake discs owing to friction between the discs and the brake pads. A high temperature gradient on the disc surfaces leads to thermal deformation and severe disc abrasion. Ultimately, the thermal deformation and disc wear give rise to a thermal judder phenomenon, which has a major effect on the stability of the vehicle. To investigate and propose a solution to these problems, thermoelastic instabilities under applied thermal and mechanical loads were analyzed using the commercial finite element package ANSYS by considering the contact surfaces between the discs and pads. Direct-contact three-dimensional finite elements between the discs and pads were applied to investigate the disc friction temperature, thermal deformation, and contact stress so that the thermal judder phenomenon on the surface of the disc could be predicted.
In this research, the study of the thermoelastic flexural analysis of silicon carbide/Aluminum graded (FG) sandwich 2D uniform structure (plate) under harmonic sinusoidal temperature load over time is presented. The plate is modeled using a simple two dimensional integral shear deformation plate theory. The current formulation contains an integral terms whose aim is to reduce a number of variables compared to others similar solutions and therefore minimize the computation time. The transverse shear stresses vary according to parabolic distribution and vanish at the free surfaces of the structure without any use of correction factors. The external load is applied on the upper face and varying in the thickness of the plates. The structure is supposed to be composed of "three layers" and resting on nonlinear visco-Pasternak's-foundations. The governing equations of the system are deduced and solved via Hamilton's principle and general solution. The computed results are compared with those existing in the literature to validate the current formulation. The impacts of the parameters (material index, temperature exponent, geometry ratio, time, top/bottom temperature ratio, elastic foundation type, and damping coefficient) on the dynamic flexural response are studied.

In this study the thermal stress distribution and deformantion characteristics resulting from the nonuniform temperature fields of the cylinder block of a light 3-cylinder 4-stroke gasoline engine were analyzed using the 3-dimensional finite element method. The temperature distributions req-uisite for the thermoelastic behavior alalysis were obtained from the steady-state heat conduction analysis performed on the basis of experimental data. in order to examine the effect of a ceramic material the cylinder liner was replaced by the silicon nitride($Si_{3}N_{4}$) and its thermal behaviors were compared with those of the original block.
The present investigation has focus on the study of deformation due to thermomechanical sources in a thick circular plate. The thick circular plate is homogeneous, transversely isotropic with two temperatures and without energy dissipation. The upper and lower surfaces of the thick circular plate are traction free. The Laplace and Hankel transform has been used for finding the general solution to the field equations. The analytical expressions of stresses, conductive temperature and displacement components are computed in the transformed domain. However, the resulting quantities are obtained in the physical domain by using numerical inversion technique. Numerically simulated results are illustrated graphically. The effects of two temperatures by considering different values of temperature parameters are shown on the various components. Some particular cases are also figured out from the present investigation.

This study aims to develop explicit models to investigate thermo-mechanical interactions in moving nanobeams. These models aim to capture the small-scale effects that arise in continuous mechanical systems. Assumptions are made based on the Euler-Bernoulli beam concept and the fractional Zener beam-matter model. The viscoelastic material law can be formulated using the fractional Caputo derivative. The non-local Eringen model and the two-phase delayed heat transfer theory are also taken into account. By comparing the numerical results to those obtained using conventional heat transfer models, it becomes evident that non-localization, fractional derivatives and dual-phase delays influence the magnitude of thermally induced physical fields. The results validate the significant role of the damping coefficient in the system's stability, which is further dependent on the values of relaxation stiffness and fractional order.
