Lattice Thermal Conductivity Calculation of Sb2Te3 using Molecular Dynamics Simulations

  • We study lattice thermal conductivity of $Sb_2Te_3$ using molecular dynamics simulations. The interatomic potentials are fitted to reproduce total energy and elastic constants, and phonon properties calculated using the potentials are in reasonable agreement with first-principles calculations and experimental data. Our calculated lattice thermal conductivities of $Sb_2Te_3$ decrease with temperature from 150 K to 500 K. The in-plane lattice thermal conductivity of $Sb_2Te_3$ is higher than cross-plane lattice thermal conductivity of $Sb_2Te_3$, as in the case of $Bi_2Te_3$, which is consistent with the anisotropy of the elastic constants.

  • Draw textured yarns have many differences with yarn quality as well as wearing, due to the bulkiness, thermal and physical properties according to the false twist texturing system. In order to improve such property, many studies have been accomplished for developing good textured yarns and their fabrics, but these have been essentially obtained by experimental data or mathematical analysis. This study surveyed various properties of DTY produced by false twist texturing system, namely pin and crossed-belt false twist insertion systems. And 6 yarn specimens of 2 group(pin twisting type, belt twisting type) were measured and analysed.

  • This study was to investigate physical properties of the system $Ca(Mg_{1-x}Al_x) (Si_{2-x}Al_x)O_6$ by quenching method. This system $\chi$=0.1 to 0.3 had same crystal phase microstructure and similar properties. Bulk density microhardness thermal expansion coefficient and modulus of rupture of these solid solutions were 2.87~2.95g/cm3 850~900kg/$mm^2$, $7.5~7.8{\times}10^{-6}$/$^{\circ}C$ and 1950~1980kg/$cm^2$ respectively.

  • A turning (facing) test on Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics was performed with several tool materials, e.g., cemented carbides, cermet and ceramic, and the wear patterns and wear rate were analyzed to clarify the relation between physical(mechanical) properties and flank wear of cutting tool. The main results are obtained as follows: (1) When cutting speed is increased, the flank wear in every tool material grows the abnormal wear in the shape of triangle at a certain speed, i.e., a critical speed. (2) When cutting speed is increased, the wear rate in experimental tool material starts to increase remarkably at a critical speed. (3) The thermal conductivity among the properties of the tool material and the thermal crack coefficient of it are almost in proportion to the critical speed. (4) The order of performance in tool materials for cutting GFRP is K 10, M10, P20, TiC, CB.

고온 다습한 환경에서의 주관적 착용 쾌적감과 관련 물성 변인 (Subjective Evaluation of Wear Comfort and Related Physical Variables under Warm and Humid Condition)

  • Physical variables related to the subjective evaluation of wear comfort were explored. Experimental fabrics was those used in the previous paper where subjective sensations of women's thin shirts were reported. Fabrics include 100% cotton (unfinished), 100% cotton (water repellent finished), cotton/polyester 35/65 (unfinished), cotton/polyester 35/65 (peach skin finished), 100% polyester fabric(plain), 100% polyester crepe. Among various physical properties of the experimental fabrics, heat 8E moisture transport properties and surface properties were chosen as important variables based on the regression coefficient. Especially, humidity at the microclimate in dynamic mode was highly correlated to the subjective evaluation and appeared to be a sensitive physical predictor, compared to dry thermal transmission rate or water vapor transmission rate. Surface characteristic parameters, however, did not show consistant trend in the prediction of the human's subjective sensation. Interaction between surface properties and humidity measurement was also observed.

  • The production of flame-retardant polypropylene powder coating with the addition of flame retardant (PP) controlled rheology (CR) and polypropylene, were discussed comparing the mechanical properties, such as safety and topical coating properties. Mechanical properties measurements showed almost the same as AA-1 where the flame retardant is not added. These results appear to, and because it is excellent in compatibility with polypropylene and flame retardant. Physical properties of the coating film, a test piece flame retardant organic is added, although it shows the physical properties of the coating film was stable, did not show the physical properties satisfactory is the test piece flame retardant of weapons has been added. In the safety of the topic, AA-4, AA-5 the results of thermal analysis but it is excellent, the LOI is excellent in 27.8 vol% 27.0 vol% in AA-4 and AA-2, AA-3, and 27.4 vol%, did not show many obstacles flame AA-5 result UL94.

PET 나노복합재료의 제조 및 특성분석 (The preparation and characterization of poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)/layered silicate nanocomposite)

  • In general, to enhance physical properties of PET-layered silicate nanocomposites $(P_{et}LSNs)$, it has been well known that the organic modifiers should introduce into gallery regions. However, the organic modifiers in$(P_{et}LSNs)$ may result in thermal decomposition by melt processing at high temperature, and it necessarily lead to deteriorate various physical properties of final products. Therefore, in this study, $(P_{et}LSNs)$ excluding and including organic modifiers were prepared by solution method $(S-P_{et}LSNs_{eom} and S-P_{et}LSNs_{iom})$ and we (focused on the effects of the organic modifiers in $P_{et}$ LSNs with exfoliation structure on the crystallization behaviors, the optical transparency, the thermal stability and the mechanical property. The absence and existence of organic modifiers in $S-P_{et}LSNs_{eom} and S-P_{et}LSNs_{iom}$ were investigated by EA and TGA, and nano-structure of silicate layers in $S-P_{et}LSNs$ was evaluated by using WXRD, SAXS and TEM. $S-P_{et}LSNs_{eom} and S-P_{et}LSNs_{iom}$ were mixed with neat PET as masterbatches by melt method $(M-P_{et}LSNs_{eom} and M-P_{et}LSNs_{iom})$, and also neat PET was mixed with organically modified layered silicates (OLS) by conventional direct melt method $(D-P_{et}LSNs) at 270^{\circ}C$. As results, it was found that $M-P_{et}LSNs_{eom}, M-P_{et}LSNs_{iom}, and D-P_{et}LSN$ showed a exfoliated structure and exhibited faster crystallization rate, better thermal stability and mechanical property than those of neat PET due to the dispersed and detaminated silicate layers in PET matrix. Whereas, considering organic modifiers effect, $M-P_{et}LSNs_{eom} and D-P_{et}LSN$ exhibited slower crystallization rate, poorer optical, thermal and mechanical properties, in comparison to $M-P_{et}LSNs_{eom}> due to the thermal decomposition of organic modifier in $D-P_{et}LSNs$ during melt method.

  • Recently, the utilization of recycled aggregates for backfilling a power transmission pipeline trench has been increasing due to the issues of eco-friendly construction and shortage of natural aggregate resource. It is important to investigate the physical and thermal properties of the recycled aggregates that can be used as a backfill material. This study presents the thermal properties of two types of recycled aggregates with various particle size distributions. The thermal properties of the recycled aggregate were measured using the transient hot wire method and the probe method after performing the standard compaction test using an automatic compactor. Similar to silica sand, the thermal resistivity of the recycled aggregates decreased when the water content increased. This study shows that the recycled aggregate can be a promising backfill material substituting for natural aggregate when backfilling the power transmission pipeline trench.

올소 크레졸 노볼락 에폭시 수지 연화점 변화에 따른 에폭시 몰딩 컴파운드의 물성 변화 (The Change of Physical Properties of Epoxy Molding Compound According to the Change of Softening Point of ο-Cresol Novolac Epoxy Resin)

  • 반도체를 보호하기 위하여 사용하는 반도체 성형 재료로, 현재 주로 사용되고 있는 Epoxy Molding Compound(EMI)의 주성분인 올소 크레졸 노볼락 에폭시 수지의 특성과 성형 재료의 관계를 조사하기 위하여 올소 크레졸 노볼락 에폭시 수지의 분자량과 깊은 관련이 있는 수지의 연화점 변화에 따른 EMC의 물성변화를 살펴보았다. 사용된 epoxy 수지의 연화점은 각각 65.1$^{\circ}C$, 72.2$^{\circ}C$, 83.0$^{\circ}C$ 인 3종을 사용하였으며 연화점 변화에 따른 EMC의 물성변화를 살펴보기 위하여 기계적 물성으로 굴곡 강도와 굴곡탄성율을, 열적 특성 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 열팽창 계수와 열전도도 그리고 유리 전이온도를 각각 측정하였다. 그리고 성형 특성과의 관계를 살펴보기 위하여 스피랄 플로우(Spiral Flow)를 측정하였다, 연화점이 증가함에 따라 굴곡 탄성율과 유리상에서의 열팽창 계수(${\alpha}_1$), 그리고 열전도도는 거의 변화가 없었으나 유리전이온도는 연화점 증가에 따라 증가함을, 스피랄 플로우는 연화점 증가에 따라 감소함을 보여주었다. 이는 에폭시 수지의 분자량이 증가함에 따라 가교밀도가 증가하는 현상에 기인한다고 판단된다. 고무상에서의 여팽창 계수(${\alpha}_2$)와 굴곡강도의 경우는 전이점을 보여주고 있는데, 이는 수지점도 증가에 따른 충전제의 분산성에 기인한 것으로 판단된다.
