To understand the status of the migrating Oriental Honey Buzzard(Pernis ptilorhynchus) in Korea, we carried out a preliminary study on the number and local movements of the Honey Buzzard from September 2005 to October 2007 at Hongdo Island, Jeonnam Province, Korea. A total of 702 Honey Buzzards in 2005, 404 individuals in 2006, and 659 individuals in 2007 were recorded during the fall migration season, but during the spring migration season only two and eight birds were observed in 2006 and 2007 respectively. The migrating Honey Buzzard showed peak numbers from 20 September to 5 October at the study site. According to observation of arrival time of538 Honey Buzzard in October 2007, a total of 2l6 birds(40.l %) were passing over Hongdo Island between 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, rising skyward on columns of warm air. This suggests the use of thermal currents and avoidance of nocturnal movement for crossing water. They preferred moderate winds(<5 m/s in speed) from northwest, but the migrating number apparently decreased in case of strong winds (${\geqq}5 m/s$). This suggests that wind speed and direction are important environmental factors for migration of the Oriental Honey Buzzard. At present, it is unclear which breeding population(from north-eastern China or Japan) passes over Hongdo Island. Moreover, it is difficult to prove migration route and to understand migratory behaviors of the Oriental Honey Buzzard in Korea. To prove the breeding sites and routes of the migrants over the study site, we need more detailed and further studies such as satellite tracking researches.

Acetylenic or phenylethynyl end-capped polyisoimide oligomers ($M_w$ 2500 g/mol, 5000 g/mol) based upon 4,4'-diamino diphenyl ether (4,4'-ODA)/4,4'-oxydiphthalic anhydride (ODPA) and 4,4'-ODA/3,3',4,4'-benzophenone tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride (BTDA) were synthesized by using 4-ethynylaniline (4-EA) or 4-phenylethynyl phthalic anhydride (4-PEPA) as an end capper. The incorporation of ethynyl groups were confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy. The isomerization temperature was influenced by molecular weight as well as the backbone structure of polyisoimides oligomers. Thus, polyisoimide oligomers with molecular weight of 2500 g/mol was found to be imidized at temperature $10^{\circ}C$ lower than that for the oligomers with molecular weight of 5000 g/mol. The crosslinking reaction of ethynyl groups occurred at a higher temperature than that for the isoimide/imide isomerization reaction. These two reactions were totally or partially overlapped on the DSC thermograms for the polyisoimide oligomer end-capped with 4-EA. Kinetics of thermal imidization and crosslinking reactions for the 4,4'-ODA/ODPA polyisoimide oligomers end-capped with 4-PEPA were investigated by performing dynamic DSC experiments at heating rate of $10^{\circ}C/min$. The activation energy and pre-exponential factors were 141 kJ/mol and $1.45{\times}10^{13}min^{-1}$ for the imidization reaction and 177 kJ/mol and $2.90{\times}10^{13}min^{-1}$ for the crosslinking reaction, respectively.

Acid-resistant poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membranes connected with ethylene and ether groups were prepared via a thermal crosslinking reaction by varying the ratio of PVA to ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE). The crosslinked membranes were characterized using FT-IR and swelling tests, respectively. Pervaporation behaviors with the PVA membranes were investigated for aqueous TFEA (2,2,2-trifluoroethanol) as a function of EGDE content and operating temperature. The pervaporation properties far MA (methacrylic acid)/water mixture were also carried out with the optimized PVA membrane. The PVA membranes prepared with EGDE showed more excellent acid-resistance than those crosslinked with gluaraldehyde. The membranes showed high permeation fluxes of 0.1 and $0.3\;km^2h$ and high separation factors of 100 and 900 in the $96\;wt\%$ TFEA and MA aqueous fred mixtures at high temperature above $80^{\circ}C$, respectively. These confirmed theses membranes could be used in esterification membrane reactor process for the production of 2,2,2-trifluoroethylmetacrylate (TFEMA).

A literature review on the effects of high temperature and radiation on radiation shielding concrete in Spent Fuel Dry Storage is presented in this study with a focus on concrete degradation. The general threshold is $95^{\circ}C$ for preventing long-term degradation from high temperature, and it is suggested that the temperature gradient should be less than $60^{\circ}C$ to avoid crack generation in concrete structures. The amount of damage depends on the characteristics of the concrete mixture, and increases with the temperature and exposure time. The tensile strength of concrete is more susceptible than the compressive strength to degradation due to high temperature. Nuclear heating from radiation can be neglected under an incident energy flux density of $10^{10}MeV{\cdot}cm^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$. Neutron radiation of >$10^{19}n{\cdot}cm^{-2}$ or an integrated dose of gamma radiation exceeding $10^{10}$ rads can cause a reduction in the compressive and tensile strengths and the elastic moduli. When concrete is highly irradiated, changes in the mechanical properties are primarily caused by variation in water content resulting from high temperature, volume expansion, and crack generation. It is necessary to fully utilize previous research for effective technology development and licensing of a Korean dry storage system. This study can serve as important baseline data for developing domestic technology with regard to concrete casks of an SF (Spent Fuel) dry storage system.
Molybdenum silicide films have been prepared by sputtering from a single composite MoS$i_2$ source on both P, B$F_2$respectively implanted (5${\times}10^{15}ions/cm^2$ single crystal and P implanted (5${\times}10^{15}ions/cm^2$) polycrystalline silicon substrates followed by rapid thermal annealing in the ambient of argon. The heat treatment temperatures have been varied in the range of 600-l20$0^{\circ}C$ for 20 seconds. The properties of Mo-silicide and the diffusion behaviors of dopant after the heat treatment are investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy(SEM) , secondary ions mass spectrometry(SIMS), four-point probe and $\alpha-step.$ Annealing at 80$0^{\circ}C$ or higher resulted in conversion of the amorphous phase into predominantly MoS$i_2$and a lower sheet resistance. There was no significant out-diffusion of dopants from both single crystal and polycrystalline silicon substrate into molybdenum silicide layers during annealing.
This research was conducted to provide basic data of surplus heat for designing solar heat-storage systems. The surplus heat is defined as the heat exhausted by forced ventilations from the greenhouses to control the greenhouse temperature within setting limits. Various simulations were performed to compare the differences of thermal behaviors among greenhouse types as well as among several domestic areas by using pseudo-TMY (Typical Meteorological Year) data manipulated based both on the weather data supplied from Korean Meteorological Administration and the TMY data supplied from The Korean Solar Energy Society. Additional analyses were carried out to examine the required heating energy together with some others such as the energy balances in greenhouses to be considered. The results of those researches are summarized as follows. Regional surplus solar heats for the nine regions with 4-type were analyzed. The results showed that the ratio of surplus solar energy compared to heating energy was the highest in Jeju (about 212.0~228.0%) for each greenhouse type. And followed by Busan, Kwangju, Jinju, Daegu, Daejeon, Jeonju, Suwon and Daekwanryung. And irrespective of greenhouse types, surplus solar energy alone could cover up nearly all of the required supplemental heating energy except for a few areas.
The irrigation schedule system using early detection of crop water stress is required to maintain crop production and save water resource. However, because previous studies focused on the crop under stress dominant condition, the crop physiological properties, which can be measured by remote sensing technique, on early crop water stress condition are not well known. In this study, the canopy temperature, MERIS Terrestrial Chlorophyll Index (MTCI), and Chlorophyll/Carotenoid Index (CCI) are observed on the soybeans given the early water stress using thermal imaging camera and hyperspectral camera. The increased canopy temperature and decreased MTCI are consist with the previous studies which are for the crop of stress dominant-sign. However, the CCI was increased contrary to expectation because it may faster the reduction of carotenoid than chlorophyll in early stage. These behaviors will be useful to not only develop the irrigation system but also using the early detection of crop stress.
An Excavation Damaged Zone(EDZ) caused by blasting impact changes rock properties, in situ stress distribution, etc., and its effects are noticeable at around a radioactive waste repository located at deep underground. In particular, the increase in permeability due to the formation of cracks may significantly increase the amount of groundwater inflow and the possibility of radioactive nuclide outflow. In this study, FLAC2D and FLAC3D were used to analyze the mechanical and thermal behaviors for three categories: a)No EDZ, b)Uniform EDZ, and c)Random EDZ. It was found that the tunnel displacement in the Random EDZ case was 423% higher than that in the No EDZ case and was 16% higher than that in the Uniform EDZ case. Tunnel inflow in the Random EDZ was also 17.3% and 10.8% higher than that in the No EDZ and the Uniform EDZ case, respectively. The permeability around the tunnel was increased by up to 10 times in the corner of the tunnel wall and roof due to the stress redistribution after excavation. From the computer simulation, it was found that the permeability around the tunnel wall was partially increased but the overall tunnel inflow was decreased with increase of stress ratio. Mechanical analysis using FLAC 3D showed similar results. Slight difference between 2D and 3D could be explained with the development of plastic zone during the advance of tunnel excavation in 3D.

The underground disposal facility for spent nuclear fuel demands a specialized design, distinct from conventional practices, to ensure long-term thermal, mechanical, and hydraulic integrity, preventing the release of radioactive isotopes from high-temperature spent nuclear fuel. SKB has established design criteria for such facilities and executed practical design implementations for Forsmark. Moreover, in response to subsurface uncertainty, SKB has proposed an empirical approach involving monitoring and adaptive design modifications, alongside stepwise development. SKB has further introduced a unique support system, categorizing ground types and behaviors and aligning them with corresponding support types to confirm safety through comparative analyses against existing systems. POSIVA has pursued a comparable approach, developing a support system for Onkalo while accounting for distinct geological characteristics compared to Forsmark. This demonstrates the potential for domestic implementation of spent nuclear fuel disposal facility designs and the establishment of a support system adapted to national attributes.

The effects of antioxidants on the properties of Polycarbonate/Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene(PC/ABS) blends were studied for the functions of the screw speed and loaded duration of high shear rate processing in order to investigate the degradation for PC/ABS blends. Tris-(2,4-di-tert-butyl-phenyl phosphate) (A1) and Bis(2,4-dicumylphenyl) pentaerythritol diphosphite (A3) as phosphite antioxidants and Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate (A2) as a phenolic antioxidant are used. The thermal properties were detected by TGA and severely decreased, after the processing. The stress-induced and thermal degradation for PC/ABS blends with the antioxidant A3 was retarded better than the others. By using UTM, the mechanical properties also showed individually decreased according to the antioxidants, after the processing, especially, the elongations showed considerable decline behaviors, while the tensile strengths of PC/ABS blends changed very little. For example, in the operating conditions of 1000rpm of screw speed and 20 seconds of loaded period, the elongations decreased from 148% before the processing, to 91.6% with the A1, to 63% with the A2 and to 131% with the A3 after the processing, respectively. In order to get the morphological properties, the size distributions of the dispersed phases for PC/ABS were investigated by SEM analysis and tended to decrease, as the screw speed and loaded period of the processing increased. Therefore, we confirmed that the antioxidant A3 was the best of all of three to inhibit the stress-induced degradation of PC/ABS blends during the high shear rate processing.
