  • The high speed tracking control of a 6-6 Stewart platform manipulator (SPM) normally requires knowledge of its complex full dynamics and measurement of its base motion when the SPM operates on a motion nit. In this study, an enhanced sliding mode control scheme has been developed, which is based on the reduced dynamics, not necessitating measurement of the base motion. The enhanced sliding mode control implemented with the perturbation compensation and modified reaching phase alleviation functions has been successfully employed for high speed tacking control of the laboratory SPM, when it is subjected to a virtual base motion.

  • The conventional sliding mode control(SMC) technique requires a prior knowledge of the upperbounds of external disturbance to guarantee a robust control performance. This, however, may not be easy to identity in practice. This paper presents a new methodology, sliding mode control with disturbance estimator(SMCDE), which offers a robust control performance without a prior knowledge of the upperbounds. The proposed technique is featured by an integrated average value of the imposed disturbance over a certain period. The proposed technique is applied to the position control of AC servo motor, and experimental results are compared between the conventional and proposed schemes.

  • In this paper, a variable structure dynamic output feedback controller with an transformed sliding surface is designed for the improved robust control of a uncertain system under unmatched system uncertainty, matched input matrix uncertainty, and disturbance satisfying some conditions. This paper is extended from the results of the static output feedback VSS in [9]. To effectively remove the reaching phase problems, an initial condition of the dynamic output is determined. The previous some limitations on the dynamic output feedback variable structure controller is overcome in this systematic design. A stabilizing control is designed to generate the sliding mode on the predetermined sliding surface S=0 and as a results the closed loop exponential stability is obtained and proved together with the existence condition of the sliding mode on S=0 for all unmatched system matrix uncertainties. To show the usefulness of the algorithm, a design example and computer simulations are presented.

  • In this paper, a nonlinear controller based on adaptive sliding-mode method which has a sliding surface vector including new boundary function is proposed and applied to a two-wheeled voiding mobile robot (WMR). This controller makes the welding point of WMR achieve tracking a reference point which is moving on a smooth curved welding path with a desired constant velocity. The mobile robot is considered in view of a kinematic model and a dynamic model in Cartesian coordinates. The proposed controller can overcome uncertainties and external disturbances by adaptive sliding-mode technique. To design the controller, the tracking error vector is defined, and then the new sliding is proposed to guarantee that the error vector converges to zero asymptotically. The stability of the dynamic system will be shown through the Lyapunov method. The simulations is shown to prove the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

  • In this paper, a sliding mode controller (SMC) which can be characterized by high accuracy, fast response and robustness is applied to speed control of AC-SERVO motor. The control input is changed to continuous one in the boundary layer to reduce the chattering phenomenon, and the boundary layer converges to zero when the state variables of system reach to steady state values. The integral compensator is added to reduce steady state error and to provide the continuous torque reference. The acceleration which is necessary to get the sliding plane is estimated by an observer. Sliding surface is included in control input to enhance the robustness and transient response without increasing sliding mode controller gain. The proposed controller is implemented by DSP(digital signal processor). The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme for speed controller is shown by the real-time experimental results in the paper.

  • A new semi-continuous sliding mode control is proposed for electromagnetic suspension systems. The control input is derived from the reaching law and the Lyapunov stability criteria, which is composed of continuous terms and low switching term. It has a low switching gain and chattering fee characteristics. It is shown by the computer simulation that the proposed control has good tracking performance and robustness compared with the classical sliding mode control.

  • The sliding mode control in an effective method to eatablish robustness against parameter variation and disturbance. But. In sliding mode strategy, the control function is discontinuous on the hyperplane. However the discontinuous change in control structure caves the controller input to chaffer and gives non-zero steady state error. Consequently, a multiloop feedback control system supplemented by a complelmentary controller is used to improved the drive performence of a DC servo motor and reduce sensitivity to parameter variation, nonlinear effects, and other disturbances.

  • This paper presents the implementation of a positon sensorless vector control system of a PM linear synchronous motor by sliding mode observer based on TMS320F240 DSP controller. Sliding mode observer estimates the secondary velocity and position based on the measurement of current, and it shows very robust characteristic to parameter variation. Therefore, it improves the system performance deterioration caused by system parameter variations. Simulation and experimental considerations are presented to confirm the applicability of sliding mode observer to the sensorless position control of PMLSM.

  • We proposed the indirect adaptive fuzzy model based sliding mode controller to control a nonaffine nonlinear systems. Takagi-Sugano fuzzy system is used to represent the nonaffine nonlinear system and then inverted to design the controller at each sampling time. Also sliding mode component is employed to eliminate the effects of disturbances, while a fuzzy model component equipped with an adaptation mechanism reduces modeling uncertainties by approximating model uncertainties. The proposed controller and adaptive laws guarantee that the closed-loop system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov and the output tracks a desired trajectory asymptotically.

  • In this study, the fuzzy approximator and sliding mode control (SMC) scheme are considered. An adaptive sliding mode control is proposed based on the SMC theory. This proposed control scheme is that a adaptive law is utilized to approximate the unknown function f by fuzzy logic system in designing the sliding mode controller for the nonlinear system. In order to reduce the approximation errors, the differences of nonlinear function and fuzzy approximator, an adaptive law is also intoduced and the stability of proposed control scheme are proven with simple adaptive law and roburst adaptive law. This proposed control scheme is applied to a single link robot arm.
