  • PURPOSE. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between tooth loss and sub-clinical atherosclerosis in Korean adults. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The subjects were part of a cohort study conducted in Ansan city by the Korea University medical school as part of the Korean Genome project. 749 subjects over than 40 years old were evaluated. After taking panoramic radiography, the amount of tooth loss was calculated. The intima-media thickness (IMT) was assessed by using ultrasonography at the common carotid artery. Traditional cardiovascular risk factors for atherosclerosis were also evaluated. The relationship between tooth loss and the IMT was evaluated using ANOVA with Scheffe's multiple comparison method in univariate analysis. Multiple regression analysis was also performed to determine the significance between the IMT and tooth loss. RESULTS. With age, tooth loss increased, but there was no significant increase in other traditional cardiovascular risk factors. Univariate analysis revealed the IMT to be positively related with the amount of tooth loss. Regression analysis of the IMT in the anterior and posterior tooth loss revealed that only the posterior tooth loss was significantly related with the IMT at all sites of the common carotid artery (right far wall, P = .015; left far wall, P = .008; right near wall, P < .001; left near wall, P = .001). CONCLUSION. This study verified the positive relationship between the increased tooth loss at the posterior area and the accumulation of atheroma in arteries.

There are lots of cultural inheritance such as the castle town and 5 palaces including Gyeongbokgung in Seoul. Especially neungs(royal tombs) from 27 generations of king and queen in the Joseon dynasty during 518 years are very important cultural inheritance. The royal tombs were built from the castle town to the radius outside 4km within 40km pivoting on Seoul. Joseon royal tombs might have significant cultural value, which are representative Korean people's spirits for ancestor worship. After the 1945 Liberation of Korea those are having been managed by Office of Cultural Properties after Ministry of Education. This paper tried to find the changing process of the conservation and maintenance, the location of royal tomb area, the changing process of royal tomb, the area changing clue of modernization process, and in the historical city, Seoul. • Purpose: Foreign body aspiration in children is emergent and can cause serious complications. This study aims to show the clinical characteristics of foreign body aspiration and to analyze the clinical cases of delayed diagnosis to predict and prevent complications. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 63 children (48 in Inha University Hospital and 15 in Gachon University Gil Medical Center) who were diagnosed with foreign body aspiration through bronchoscopy from 1996 to 2017 in Incheon City, and analyzed clinical characteristics. Patients were divided into 3 groups: those were diagnosed within 24 hours, delayed after 24 hours, or delayed more than 7 days according to time elapse from the time of foreign body aspiration, and clinical characteristics of each group were compared. Results: Aspiration occurred in 58.7% at 1 year and 15.9% at 2 years. Cough (65.1%) and coarse breathing sound (41.3%) were most common, and radiologic findings were commonly presented as emphysema on the affected side (41.3%). Nuts were most common (42.9%), and there was no difference in the frequency between the right and left main bronchi. The documented history of foreign body aspiration was more frequently found in the early diagnosed group; however, sputum, fever, and complications were more frequent in the delayed diagnosed group. Conclusion: If a patient with respiratory disease has persistent fever or sputum, foreign body aspiration should be suspected.

  • Nowadays, architecture in urban areas is dominated by the goal of spanning wide spaces and creating openings large enough to distribute daylight to building interiors. Daylight availability of building in city strongly depends not only on the building's height but also on spaces between buildings. Recently numbers of disputes over the daylight availability are increasing in high density developed areas because residents' demand for pleasant residential environment is getting stronger. Therefore in this study we constructed the three-dimensional information of buildings using LiDAR data connected with digital map and then suggested conclusions by applying it to daylight availability analysis. This study presents an approach to judge accurately the violation of a right to enjoy sunshine by using altitude and azimuths of the sun, simulating three-dimensional urban space precisely, and classifying the total duration of sunshine and the continuous duration of sunshine each householder. We expect that local government performs precisely the confirmation and permission business about urban planning and design by advising this approach.

  • The new apartments has been rapidly built through the outskirts of Cheong-ju city since the latter half of 1980's. So, the population decreased in Seong-an dong and Jung-ang dong which are located in traditional urban area of Cheong-ju. Also, residential areas became obsolete and residential buildings happened to be vacant and empty. For urban rehabilitation, the city authorities will construct the high-rise complex housings with stores in the traditional urban area. We have doubts about whether the rapid change of new housing construction is right or not. Therefore, It is necessary to give a correct diagnosis of the present state from urban atrophy, keeping this area sustainable with traditionality and locality. This study is to examine and analysis in detail distribution patterns and habitable floor area by house types in Seong-an dong and Jung-ang dong which are located in traditional urban area of Cheong-ju. The result are as follows; the residential buildings as the 2,680 houses(including detached and apartment houses) and the 804 shop houses are distributed with 3,484(67%) of the whole 5,183 buildings and form 28percent of the whole floor areas. A distribution and area ratio of houses to shop houses is irrespectively about 76 : 24percent. The average floor area is represented with $66m^2$/household and $28.5m^2$/person. It shows that a hollowing out of urban area has caused the surplus of residential buildings and floor areas.

  • This study, views the color of scenery not as a static state, but rather as a continuous sequence of perceptions that incorporates the concept of time. This study derived techniques to quantitatively analyze the flow and data from this sequence. By utilizing this, urban color trends can be based on openness. This is very close to what would be experienced by an actual viewer: it extracted color data and visual amount from frames at 2-second intervals by shooting a video of the color sequence of the city as seen from both the left and right sides from the inside of the monorail (line 3 of the Daegu urban railway). These images were classified by color group, brightness, chroma, high chroma distribution derived techniques such as openness of space, brightness level, clarity level, high-chroma distribution and code, advantage of visual amount, dominant factor exposure, hot and cold color image and dynamic of sequence rhythm. During the derived sequence, the data determines the openness in the visual amount of sky and it was found that the tendency of the colors of the city was opening regression analysis. The more colorful the city is opening the brightness is lowered, the chroma increased slightly, cold colors significantly increased, which also had a very deep relationship with Lynch enclosed proportion, color change of the city trends through the actual scenery could grasp in more detail.
