We consider an extension of the multiple choice linear knapsack problem and develop a fast algorithm of order $O(r_{max}n^2)$ by exploiting some new properties, where $r_{max}$ is the largest multiple choice number and n is the total number of variables. The proposed algorithm has convenient structures for the post-optimization in changes of the right-hand-side and multiple choice numbers. A numerical example is presented.

Data-dependent (adaptive) choice of asymptotically efficient score functions for rank estimators and M-estimators of regression parameters in a linear regression model with left-truncated and right-censored data are developed herein. The locally adaptive smoothing techniques of Muller and Wang (1990) and Uzunogullari and Wang (1992) provide good estimates of the hazard function h and its derivative h' from left-truncated and right-censored data. However, since we need to estimate h'/h for the asymptotically optimal choice of score functions, the naive estimator, which is just a ratio of estimated h' and h, turns out to have a few drawbacks. An altermative method to overcome these shortcomings and also to speed up the algorithms is developed. In particular, we use a subroutine of the PPR (Projection Pursuit Regression) method coded by Friedman and Stuetzle (1981) to find the nonparametric derivative of log(h) for the problem of estimating h'/h.

Left ventricular-Right atrial canal is a rare congenital heart disease. The vast majority of the cases reported in the literature are clinically diagnosed as atrial septal defect or ventricular septal defect. The method of choice in establishing the diagnosis of left ventricular-right atrlal canal is selective left ventriculography. Recently we experienced one case of left ventricular-right atrial canal which was diagnosed as ventricular septal defect preoperatively. The type of defect was tricuspid perforation of infravalvular type, and repaired with direct suture. Postoperative course was uneventful and discharged without complication.

This study aims to examine how home child care allowance influences a mother's choice of child care type. To accomplish this goal, we surveyed 432 mothers who had at least one child under 5 years old. The data were analyzed by frequencies, percentages, means and binomial logistic regressions. The results showed that unemployed mothers and mothers with younger children had a high tendency to choose home child care allowance instead of child care subsidy. Second, mother's employment status, age of first child and an interactive term of mother's employment status and home child care receipt influenced a concordance between an ideal and actual child care type. Unemployed mothers and mothers with younger children were more likely to experience a concordance between their ideal and actual types of child care. By investigating how home child care allowance affects the right of choice in child care type, this study provides empirical information to policy makers and researchers and contributes to develop cash-benefit policies for families with young children.

Ge-Fu(歌賦) means prose and poetry individually, and they both have a meaning of all the rhythmical poetrical compositions making it ease for people to remember the content. All the Ge-Fus used in oriental medicine are made in Yuan(元), Mine(明)and Qing(靑)dynasty, and they have been largely used in most of all the fields of medicine such as Ben-Cao(本草), Tang-Ye(湯液), Zhen-Jiu(鍼灸), Zhen-Duan(診斷). Zhen-Jiu-Ge-Fu(鍼灸歌賦) has about 90 poetries and 10 proses and they contain the names of meridian; courses of meridian streams; accurate positions of acupuncture points; functions; effects; meanings of the name of acupuncture points; usages and effects of special points; manipulations of reinforcing and reducing method; contraindications of acupuncturing; principles of selections and orders of acupuncture points in therapy; and eight diadgoses. Zhen-Jiu-Ge-Fu is subdivided into Jing-Xue(經穴歌), Zhi-Jiu-Ge(刺灸歌), Shu-Xue-Ge(輸穴歌), Zhi-Liao-Ge(治療歌). And In Zhi-Liao-Ge, the most brief and essential Ge-Fu-Si-Zong-Sue-Ge- contains theraputic designs using far apart acpuncture points from the right painful areas in the body. In this study, the author opinionated the Si-Zong-Sue-Ge can be the prototype of the distant needling; the research on this can open the importance of Ge-Fus. On conclusion, 1. "Upper and lower Abdomen - Zu-San-Li($S_{36}$) (肚腹三里留)" means when there are problems and disorders in upper and lower abdomen, distinctively, such as gastric pain, maldigestion, flatulence, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, vomiting, menstrual disorer, knee pain and tonic functioning, 족삼리 can be a right choice for distant needling point for treating. 2. "Face and Eye-He-Gu($Li_4$) (面目合谷收)" means when there are problems and disorders in facial, eye, ear, nose, throat, mouth regions, distinctively, such as facial edema, toothache, headache, sore throat, rhinorrhea, frontal headache, abdominal pain, dizziness, He-Gu can be a right choice for distant needling point for treating. 3. "Upper and lower back - Wei-Zhong($B_{40}$) (腰背委中求)" means when there are problems and disorders in upper and lower back, distinctively, such as upper back pain, lumbargo, hamstring muscle pain, popliteal region pain, lower extremity compartment syndrom, Inguinal region pain, muscle twitch, vomiting and diarrhea, hemorrhoidal bleeding, skin rash, Wei-Zhong can be a right choice for distant needling point for treating. 4. "Head and neck - Lie-Que($L_7$) (頭項審列缺)" means when there are problems and disorders in capital and nuchal area, distinctively, such as migraine, frontal headache, rhinorrhea, asthmatic dyspnea, aphasia, coughing, neck stiffness, occipital headache, upper extremity pain, Lie-Que can be a right choice for distant needling point for treating.

Aberrant right subclavian arteries were experienced in two young children. This is a rare aortic arch anomaly that usually does not produce symptoms. Symtomatic patients require surgical interventions.We describe two young children who had aberrant right subclavian artery with symptoms of difficulty in swallowing and respiratory problems. Diagnosis was made by esophagography, aortography and 3-Dimension chest CT. Operation had been advocated through right thoracotomy without difficulty for ligation, division and anastomosis to the ascending aorta. Dysphagia lusoria was immediately relieved and postoperative course was uneventful. We consider that the right thoracotomy is the choice of operative approach and noninvasive diagnosis by 3-Dimension chest CT is easily made for infant with aberrant right subclavian artery.

The purpose of this study is to gain basic information to manage the free choice activities of kindergarten by investigating the teachers' perception of restriction rules. The subjects of the study were 200 kindergarten teachers who worked in J province. The instrument used for this study was a questionnaire that focused on teachers' perception about the restriction rules for the free choice activities. The results of this study were as follows. First, the teachers considered restriction rules in the art center as the most important factor. Second, the teachers recognized that limiting the number of players in a same center is the most important thing among the three restriction rules. Third, the teachers' perception regarding the necessity of restriction rules is as follows. The rule of restricting the number of players is needed to prevent too many players focusing in a certain center. The rule of restricting play time is necessary to encourage children to play in various centers, and the rule of restricting play space is crucial to solidify the educational purpose that every interest center has. The meaning and the necessity of the restriction rules on children's free choice activities were further discussed as connected with children's right to play.
