  • We proposed a new variable sampling rate model which expresses the phenomena with both rapid and slow components. A method for determining the variable sampling rate and the older of the time series model was explained. The proposed variable sampling rate model was evaluated based oil an information criterion(AIC). Tile variable sampling rate model brought smaller an information criterion than one of a constant sampling rate model of conventional type, and was proved to be effective as a prediction model of the system with both rapid and slow components.

  • To mitigate the performance degradation caused by performance anomaly, a number of channel assignment algorithms have been proposed for multi-rate wireless mesh networks. However, network conditions have not been fully considered for routing process in these algorithms. In this paper, a joint scheme called Multi-rate Dijkstra's Shortest path - Rate Separated (MDSRS) is proposed, combining routing metrics and channel assignment algorithm. In MDSRS, the routing metric are determined through the synthesized deliberations of link costs and rate matches; then the rate separated channel assignment is operated based on the determined routing metric. In this way, the competitions between high and low rate links are avoided, and performance anomaly problem is settled, and the network capacity is efficiently improved. Theoretical analysis and NS-3 simulation results indicate that, the proposed MDSRS can significantly improve the network throughput, and decrease the average end-to-end delay as well as packet loss probability. Performance improvements could be achieved even in the heavy load network conditions.

  • Many researchers are now working in the Low-Rate WPAN environment. Low-Rate WPAN has as its goal the enhancing computer use by making many sensors available throughout the physical environment, but making them effectively invisible to the user. Low-Rate WPAN environment consists of wireless sensor devices that may move often. Movement of hosts results in a change in routes and the need of some mechanism for determining new routes. This paper suggests an approach to utilize location information to improve performance of a routing mechanism for Low-Rate WPAN Environment. Accordingly, we proved that the proposed mechanism results in a significant reduction in a number of routing messages when comparing with existing mechanisms.

  • The purpose of this work is to investigate the effect of work load on heart rate variability (HRV) which is widely used marker of the autonomic nervous system activity. Average heart rate, rating of perceived exertion, and the power spectrum of heart rate variability were investigated in seven healthy males during exercise at various work loads. The subjects were divided into two groups according to the average heart rate during exercise, group 1 with lower heart rate and group 2 with higher heart rate. HF component showed decrease followed by increase with workload. Accordingly, the LF/HF ratio showed increase followed by decrease with workload. The peak in LF/HF ratio of group 1 was at the lower workload than that of group 2.

  • In this paper, an efficient rate control algorithm based on rate prediction is proposed for maintaining a smooth buffer variation and a small buffer size. The proposed method adjusts the quantization scaling factor by using the predicted bit-rate to meet the target bit budget exactly. Experimental result show that the proposed prediction-based rate control scheme can regulate the bit-rate across scene changes more effectively and achieve better PSNR performance than existing rate control mechanisms such as the MPEG-2 Test Model 5 (TM5) and the Adaptive Scene Analysis (ASA).

  • Zinc oxide thin films were obtained from zinc acetate-2-water and oxygen by photo-CVD method. (1) The formation of ZnO films sarts from 100[$^{\circ}C$] and the deposition rate increases with increasing substrate temperature. (2) The rate of deposition was also affected by flow rates of O$_2$(reaction gas) and N$_2$(Carrier gas). (3) The deposition rate decreases with increasing O$_2$mole rate. (4) The transmission of the films was independent of oxygen mole rate and it was largely affected substrate temperature. (5) The electric resistivity of th films was largely varied at oxygen mole rate 10[%] and above 20[%], a plateau was encountered. Also, it increases with increasing substrate temperature. As the results, at substrate temperature: 200[$^{\circ}C$]; O$_2$gas mole rate:10[%]; reation time:10[min] pressure: 10$\^$-2/[atm], deposition rate; transmittance; resistivity were 780[A$\^$0/; 94[%]; 7${\times}$10$\^$-2/[$\Omega$$.$cm] respectively.

  • The effect of different feeding rate on the growth and survival rate of 3-year-old abalone, Haliotis dicsus hannai were investigated in marine net cage culture. Feeding rate is determined that was fed 5, 10, 15 and 20 percentage to abalone at body weight once daily : 5 daily feeding rate (DFR), 10 DFR, 15 DFR and 20 DFR. After that, it was conducted to reared during thirteen month with two replicates in net cage culture. In the growth performance of reared abalone (initial mean shell length $73.77{\pm}11.27mm$) in net cage culture, that the absolute growth rate (ARG), daily growth rate (DGR) and specific growth rate (SGR) to the shell length and shell breadth, as well as weight gain (WG), daily weight gain (DWG) and specific weight gain (SWG) to body weight of 5 DFR were higher than those of different groups (P < 0.05). Also, survival rate of all feeding rate groups was not significant, but it was showed bellow 30 percents. Therefore, these results is showed that the daily feeding rate for natural feed of 3-year-old abalones reared in net cage culture should be to supply among five to ten percents.

  • IEEE 802.11 PHY and MAC layer provide multiple channels and data rates. To improve the performance of IEEE 802.11 multi-radio ad hoc networks, it is required to utilize available channels and data rates efficiently. However, in IEEE 802.11 multi-rate networks, the rate anomaly (RA) problem occurs that the network performance is severely degraded as low-rate links affect high-rate links. Hence, in this paper, we propose a model-based rate separation (MRS) algorithm that uses multiple channels to separate different data rate links so that the RA problem is mitigated. MRS algorithm utilizes an existing throughput model that estimates the throughput of IEEE 802.11 single-hop networks to separate low-rate links and high-rate links. Through simulations, we demonstrate that the MRS algorithm shows improved network performance compared with existing algorithms in multi-radio ad hoc networks.

  • This paper proposes a roll rate estimation method for spinning vehicles. The carrier phase and frequency variations caused by spinning of vehicles are observed and the roll rate estimator is designed on the observation. The roll rate estimator consists of phase detector and zero crossing counter. The phase detector computes phase variation using in-phase and quadrature value from the correlator. By using zero crossing counter, the roll rate can be estimated since the output of phase detector is changed in proportion to the roll rate. Experiment a results show that estimated roll rate error is smaller than 0.0578Hz.
