Background : The purpose of this study was to investigate on the ankle pain, Range of Motion(ROM) and balance ability with old man have fall down experience used to ankle strengthening exercise for 6 weeks. We introduced ankle strengthening exercise in this study in order to recover the pain, ankle ROM and balance ability. Methods : Twenty-four old mans have fall down experience were included for the study. Among them, twelve old mans(experimental group) were ankle strengthening exercise and physical science methods(H/P, TENS, U/S), another twelve old mans(control group) were treated by physical science methods(H/P, TENS, U/S). Each group made use of Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) to pain and goniometer to ankle ROM and Berg Balance Test(BBS) to balance ability to compare the possible changes of pain, ROM and balance ability in two groups after treatment. Results : In experimental group, pain reduced, ankle ROM has increased in dorsi-flexion, plantar-flexion and balance ability has increased for 6 weeks. In control group, pain reduced, ankle ROM has not changed in dorsi-flextion, plantar-flextion and balance ability has not changed for 6 weeks. Conclusion : According to the results, we concluded that ankle strengthening exercise for 6 weeks is effective for reducing pain and increasing ankle ROM and balance ability. Therefore, we thought the old man have fall dawn experience need ankle strengthening exercise for prevention repeatedly fall down.
Dangyuja (Citrus maxima (Burm.) Merr.) is a native fruit of great economic importance in Jeju island in Korea. To provide experimental evidence for the antioxidant and anti-inflammation properties on extraction ethanol concentration of Dangyuja, 2 cultivars, including 30-year-old and 120-year-old were evaluated. 30-year-old Dangyuja 50%, 70% ethanol extracts had the highest polyphenol and flavonoid content, and the strongest 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS) radical scavenging activity. To investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of Dangyuja ethanol extracts, we used BV-2 microglia cells and induced inflammation using lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Then, we measured levels of inflammatory mediators as nitric oxide (NO). Among the 6 extracts, 30-year-old Dangyuja 50% ethanol extracts show the highest anti-inflammatory activity. The results suggest that 30-year-old Dangyuja 50% ethanol extracts provides significant health benefits and may be used for developing new functional materials.
The present study examined the characteristics of behavior Induced by dopamine agonists following treatment with 6-hydroxydopamine(6-OHDA) unilaterally into left striatum in rats. 6-OHDA was administered at doses of 8,16 and 24 $\mu\textrm{g}$/$\mu\textrm{l}$(in 0.1% ascorbic acid) into dopaminergic neurons in left striatum of 7 weeks old rat under anesthetic. Locomotor activity was significantly decreased at 1 week following 6-OHDA-administration in 7 weeks old rats. The contralateral circling behavior was induced by apomorphine(5 mg/kg, i.v.) after 1 week following 6-OHDA(24$\mu\textrm{g}$/$\mu\textrm{l}$) treatment, and was further increased by repeated administration of apomorphine at 2, 3 and 4 weeks. The contralateral circling behavior was also induced by lisuride and 1-dopa in a dose dependent manner, but not by SK & F 82526 in 7 weeks old rats treated with 6-OHDA. The contralateral circling behavior was significantly higher in 21 weeks old rats but significantly lower In 35 weeks old rats when compared with 7 weeks old rats. The contralateral circling behavior induced by apomorphlne did not differ significantly in 7 and 35 weeks old male and female rats. These results suggest that 6-OHDA treatment into left striatum causes remarkable destrurtion of intrastriatal dopaminergic netcons leading to dopaminergic receptor supersensitivity. Thus, the contralateral circling behavior in duces by apomorphine may be used as indicator for neurodegenerative diseases.
This study focused on abused old people who lived together with their family in community. The purposes of the study were aimed to typology the abused old people according to abuse level, investigate the characteristics by categorization, and suggest policies to improve the abused old people's quality of life. Data were collected from 1,200 old people aged above 65 years old who lived in Kyungki province, Incheon-si, Chungnam province. Among 1,200 people, 212 abused old people were analysed for the study. First, as a result of categorizing old people according to abuse level, forcefully abused and damaged group, psychologically abused and damaged group, and lukewarmly abused and damaged group were categorized. The forcefully abused and damaged group was seriously suffered from verbal and emotional abuse and noninterference, including 14.6% of the subjects. The psychologically abused and damaged group appeared high in verbal and emotional abuse, and level of noninterference, and the highest in level of depression, including half of the subjects. Lastly, the lukewarmly abused and damaged group was lower in verbal and emotional abuse, economic abuse and level of noninterference than other two groups, but higher in physical abuse and abandonment than the psychologically abused and damaged group. Policies to improve the quality of life for the abused old people based on the each group were made.
The purpose of this study is to analyze leisure satisfaction and leisure performance according to whether elderly people are performing their preferred leisure activities. For the analysis, we used sample from the 6th (2015) panal data as Korean Retirement and Income Study(KReIS). The results of this study were as follows. First, the total data of 4,197 elderly (2,212 young-old and 1,985 old-old) were analyzed. As a result, weekday and weekend leisure time of the old-old (7.64 hours / 7.81 hours) than the young-old (6.83 hour / 7.39 hour) was increased and resting activites (over 70% of watching TV and listening to the radio) accounted for more than 80% of the both elderly leisure activities. Leisure performance were higher in old-old who did not perform preferred leisure activities during weekdays. Leisure performance on weekends was higher in old-old regardless of whether they had preferred leisure time. Average of leisure performance was high in both groups and they responded leisure satisfaction was moderate. In the case of need for leisure change, young-old was higher than oid-old regardless of preference leisure performance and day of the week. However, the responses of the both groups are closed to those that do not want to change. Based on the results of this study, it should be practiced such as develomenting program and introduction of health management system considering leisure constraints to improve leisure satisfaction and continuance of leisure activities for young-old and old-old. We also emphasize the need for a systematic survey scale that takes into account the qualitative aspects of leisure activities as well as the subjective factors influencing leisure participation.
Along with the well-established evidence on the negative effect of social isolation on physical mental health and mortality, increasing attention has been paid to multi-dimensional nature of social isolation. In this study, the main effect and interaction effect of objective and subjective social isolation on heterogeneous age cohort related to the onset of dementia, which is becoming a social problem due to rapid aging of health issues, was examined through binary logistic regression analysis. Data came from the first wave of Korean Social Life, Health and Aging Project (KSHAP) (N= 814). Findings showed 1) in the young-old, objective isolation was a significant on the incidence of dementia, 2) in the old-old, subjective isolation increased the risk of dementia. In summary, the relative influence of objective and subjective social isolation related to the incidence of dementia varies depending on the young-old and old-old. On the other hand, the interaction effect of objective and subjective social isolation on dementia was not significant in both the young-old and old-old. Based on the findings, we discussed implications and suggestions for future research and relevant policy and program development(dementia-friendly communities) for ameliorating objective and subjective social isolation.
The purpose of this research is understanding of a life and finding suggestion about old person's welfare looking about old person's mutual behavior in an old group culture connected with Jong-Myo park.. Cultural subject was confirmed through these acting that is an old person forgetting from group culture or desire of revelation, Escape from land forced landing, Rescue of dead time. Through the researching of an old persons group culture location, the researcher propose the way of welfare policy about old person.
This Study was conducted to determine vaccination programs for the control of Newcastle Disease(ND) in chickens and investigate protective effect against Newcastle disease virus (NDV) after live ND vaccination. Maternal HI antibody titer level of chickens according to day(age) 1, 7, 14, 21, 28 and 35 were decreased gradually as 7.10$\pm$0.74, 6.57$\pm$0.74, 3.71$\pm$1.25, 2.20$\pm$1.03, 1.20$\pm$1.23 and 0.50$\pm$0.71. As a result of HI test and ELISA, both chickens vaccinated with VG/GA strain live vaccine at 1-day-old and chickens not vaccinated do not have antibody titer for protection against NDV at 14-day-old. Except for LaSota strain vaccine, in case of vaccination with VG/GA spray and VG/GA, B1 and LaSota strain drinking water at 14-day-old, the protective effect was 100% in chickens inoculated NDV($10^{7.2}$$EID_{50}$/50${\mu}\ell$, eye drop) at 21-day-old, but not 10~50% at 28-day-old. These data suggest that live NDV vaccination should be given at 10-day-old 20-25day-old for protect against NDV at periodic outbreaks of ND caused by velogenic viscerotropic NDV in the environment of a farm.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of health promoting behaviors and the significant factors in rural elderly(young-old vs old-old). Methods: The data was collected using structured questionnaires from June 22th to Sep. 18th, 2009. A total of 556 elderly aged 65 years or over were selected from 14 rural districts in C province, South Korea. Age was divided into two groups as below 65-74 and 75 or older. A structured questionnaire was used to obtain information on the demographic characteristics, their perceived health status, the difficulty of activities of daily living, quality of life, self-efficacy and health promoting behaviors. The health promoting behaviors included nutrition, stress management, interpersonal support, exercise, health responsibility and self-actualization. The scores for health promoting behaviors were used mean and standard deviation. The data was analyzed using SPSS Win 12.0. Results: Of the 556 subjects, we found that the young-old(65-74 aged) were 359 and the old-old elderly(over 75 aged) were 197. We found that the level of health promoting behavior was higher for young-old ($2.75{\pm}0.374$) compared to old-old elderly people ($2.67{\pm}0.399$). In multiple linear regression, quality of life, self-efficacy, living with spouse, and number of generation living together for the young-old, and quality of life for old-old elderly were significantly associated with health promoting behaviors. Conclusions: The study findings indicate that there are age differences in associated factor of health promoting behaviors. Therefore our findings may provide useful assistance in developing effective intervention programs to improve health promoting behavior of the elderly in rural areas according to their age differences.
