Method: The subjects for this study were collected from 62 patients who were admitted in the hospice care unit from July 28, 2000 to October 31, 2002 in D city K hospital. Subjects were 31 members of the experimental group and 31 members of the control group. It was devised with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The spiritual nursing intervention was given by using the therapeutic use of self, Scripture, prayer, Hymn and music, use of church community involvement and refer to pastors according to assessment of patients' spiritual need for 3 weeks(total 12 times and 1 hour per each intervention). Sangsoon Choi(1990) and Jungho Kang(1996)'s spiritual well-being scale, which was modified from Palautzian and Ellison(1982)'s spiritual well-being scale, was used to investigate patients' spiritual well-being. To investigate level of depression, OkHyun Song(1977)'s Depression Scale, which was modified from Zung(1965)'s Depression Inventory, was used. Data were analyzed by x2-test, t-test, Repeated measures ANOVA with SPSS/Win 10.0 program. Results: 1.The 1st hypothesis, 'total spiritual well-being score in the experimental group, who received the spiritual nursing intervention, will be higher than the control group who did not receive the spiritual nursing intervention' was supported(F=6.28, p=0.015, Interaction: p=0.000). 2.The 1-1st sub-hypothesis, 'religious well-being score in the experimental group, who received the spiritual nursing intervention, will be higher than the control group who did not receive the spiritual nursing intervention' was supported(F=12.75, p=0.001, Interaction: p=0.000). 3.The 1-2nd sub-hypothesis, 'existential well-being score in the experimental group, who received the spiritual nursing intervention, will be higher than the control group who did not receive the spiritual nursing intervention' was supported(F=6.87, p=0.016, Interaction: p=0.000). 4.The 2nd hypothesis, 'depression level in the experimental group, who received the spiritual nursing intervention, will be lower than the control group who did not receive the spiritual nursing intervention' was supported(F=10.45, p=0.002, Interaction: p=0.000). Conclusion: From the above results, spiritual nursing intervention was an effective program to improve spiritual well-being state and decrease depression level for the hospice patients. In the future, when the spiritual intervention, which the researcher developed, applied on nursing field, the hospice patients can have comprehensive well being including spiritual well being and peaceful dying life.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between female adolescents's relationships with their parents, psychological well-being, and attitudes towards eating. General characteristics of the subjects such as their school grades, and religion, and their parents' level of educational, marital status, and income were also analyzed in relation with the three major variables. Female adolescents' psychological well-being consisted of two indices: self-esteem and depression. The sample of this study consisted of 419 female students from 4 middle schools and 2 high schools located in Jeollabuk-Do province and the data were collected by using the method of self-administered questionnaires. The results of the analyses showed that there were significant differences in the level of parental attachment across parents' marital status, father's education level, and family income. Participants' psychological well-being levels were also different according to their grades, parents' marital status, and father's education level and income; and the level of eating attitude was different according to their school grades. The correlation analyses results indicated that parental attachment was positively related to self-esteem but negatively to a depressive mood. In addition, female students' eating attitudes were negatively associated with parental attachment and self-esteem, but positively with a depressive mood. Finally, multiple regression analysis found that a negative eating attitude was strongly influenced by a depressive mood, while parental attachment seemed to influence eating attitude indirectly through a depressive mood.

  • This study was a cross-sectional descriptive investigation study that analyzed the effects of spiritual well-being on stress coping in twenties. Data collection period was from May 1, 2019 to May 20, and 207 people voluntarily participated in the study. The sub-factors of spiritual well-being consisted of religious well-being and existential well-being. The types of stress coping consist of active coping, passive coping, aggressive coping, evasive coping, and social supportive coping. Data was analyzed using frequency analysis, t-test, Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis using SPSS 18.0. As a result of the analysis, 90 (43.5%) were male and 117 (56.5%) were female. The 71.0% of the participants had no religion, the Buddhists were 14.5%, other religions were 5.8%, Protestants were 4.3%, Catholics were 2.9%, and Won Buddhists were 1.4%. Active coping in stress coping was correlated with religious well-being (r=-.357, p<0.01) and existential well-being (r=.301, p<0.01) under statistical significance. Religious well-being was significantly higher in males (Mean=2.87, SD=.753) than females (Mean=2.49, SD=.772, p<0.01). Existential well-being was also higher in males (Mean=4.25, SD=.841) than in females (Mean=3.95, SD=.694, p<0.01). The religious well-being was significantly higher than active coping (t=6.183, p<0.01), passive coping (t=-3.595, p<0.01), aggressive coping (t=1.991, p<0.05). Existential well-being was significantly higher than active coping (t=5.339, p<0.01), aggressive coping (t=1.659, p<0.05), evasive coping (t=-3.709, p<0.05) at the statistical significance level. Based on the results, it can be suggested that it was necessary to systematically plan spiritual well-being program as a way to cope with stress by knowing that spiritual well-being positively affects active, aggressive stress coping.

A structural equation model was employed to verify the proposed conceptual model and the relationships among variables. The results revealed that, of the personality traits, participants high in extraversion, openness to experience, and agreeableness felt high levels of life satisfaction and positive affect, i.e. a sense of subjective well-being. • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the moderated effects of coping strategies in the relationship between life stress and psychological well-being in university students. Methods: Self-report questionnaires were used to collect the data from 278 university students. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, pearson correlation coefficient and hierarchial multiple regression. Results: Psychological well-being is negatively associated with life stress and avoidance coping, and positively associated with problem solving coping. Results showed that there were significant moderated effects of coping strategies in the relationship between life stress and psychological well-being. Under high life stress levels with high problem solving coping and low avoidance coping, there was a high level of psychological well-being. Moreover, life stress and coping strategies interacted well with each other to affect psychological well-being. A negative correlation between life stress and psychological well-being was remarkable for the high problem solving coping group and high avoidance coping group. Conclusion: The study results suggest that in order to improve psychological well-being, it is necessary to provide intervention programs to promote problem solving coping and to reduce the avoidance coping for university students.
