This study purposed to examine Korean people's white clothes custom historically and to explain the aesthetic consciousness latent in the custom. Korean people preferred white clothes, even up to foreigners called them White-clad folk. Not only as in old historical literatures, but also in Soo-suh, Shin-Dang-suh including Sam-Kuk-Ji in China, white clothes were a real symbol to Korean people, ranging chronically far back to the age of ancient tribal countries, Sam-Kuk Period through Koryo Dynasty and even to modern age near the end of Chosun Dynasty, wearing with pleasure regardless of age, sex or social position. Even King himself in Koryo Dynasty is said to have worn white clothes when he was out of official hours. During the Koryo and Chosun Dynasty, white clothes were sometimes prohibited for various reasons including conflicts with the theories of yin-yang and the five elements but such regulations were not effective. To Korean people, white clothes were ordinary people's everyday dress as well as noble people's plain suits, saints' uniforms with religious meanings, ceremonial costumes, funeral garments, etc. The various uses show that white clothes have been worn by many people. The unique custom that a People have worn white clothes consistently for such a long time may contain very deep symbolic meanings representing the people's sentiments and spirits. The present study understood that the meanings come from religious sacredness, magical wish for brightness, the pursuit of purity originating from the people's national traits, assimilation with nature and the will to attain whole ascetic personality. Aesthetic attitudes based on aesthetic values summed up as sacredness, brightness, purity, assimilation with nature, asceticism, etc. are the aesthetic consciousness pursued by Koreans through their white clothes. For Koreans, white color is the origin of their color sense coming from primitive religions such as worshipping the sun and the heaven. In this way, Korean people's preference for white clothes began with primitive religions, was mixed with various social, cultural and religious influences and finally was settled as their durable spirit, symbol and beauty.
The purpose of this study was to compare and evaluate the bleaching efficacy of three nonvital bleaching techniques: Walking bleaching, Walking bleaching and heat application, and Walking bleaching and bleaching light application. 36 extracted anterior teeth with intact crowns were immersed in 5 % sodium hypochlorite solution for twenty-four hours to loosen extrinsic debris. Lingual access openings were prepared in all teeth and the pulps were extirpated. The teeth were stored in 5% sodium hypochlorite for twenty-four hours to open the dentinal tubules and they were stained via whole blood. Once the teeth were stained, they were evaluated with Colorimeter. The teeth in each group were ranked from lightest to darkest and divided equally into three experimental groups in which the following bleaching techniques were used. Intracoronal base was placed 2mm below cementoenamel junction. Group 1 Walking bleaching (Superoxol + Sodium perborate) Group 2 Heat application + Walking bleaching (Superoxol+Sodium perborate) Group 3 Light application+Walking bleaching (Superoxol+Sodium perborate) The bleaching agents were changed every 3 days and the teeth were bleached for a total of 14 days. The teeth were evaluated with Colorimeter before the start of any bleaching and on day 14. The results were as follows: 1. At the end of 14 days, all the sample teeth demonstrated the increase of Lightness Index at cervical 1/3 of crown (p<0.05) Lightness Index was significant difference in group 2 and 3, but there were some minor differences among groups (p>0.05). 2. In all groups, there was significant difference in red chromacity (p<0.05), but there were some minor differences among groups (p>0.05). 3. In all groups, there was no significant difference in yellow chromacity (p>0.05).

This study is carried out to investigate the pubishing culture in Chonnam province during the latter half of Chosun Dynasty. The subjects, dates, and places of publication are analyzed from the books which have been found in the publication records and the catalog of woodblocks. Right after the war, Samryakjikhae and Sohakjipsul were published at Jukchunseodang, Bosung area. Anthologies were published dominantly through the whole period. Naju was the center of publication in 17 & the first half term 18 centuries and then moved to Jangwheung area. In this period, publication of genealogical records, biographies, anthologies, geography books had been increasing vastly. From the 19 century, most books were published by using the wooden type. The wooden type was used because the contents of books were for the limited number of publication. The most active publication happened at the end of 19th century. Significance of Confucian literature, collective anthologies, medical science, and confucious classics decreased in the latter half.
A high molecular weight natural sodium alginate (HMWSAs) was depolymerized by hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) with ultrasonic irradiation. The effects of the reaction conditions such as reaction temperature, reaction time, hydrogen peroxide concentration and ultrasonic irradiation time on the molecular weights and the end groups of the depolymerized alginates were investigated. It was revealed that depolymerization occurred through the breakage of 1,4-glycosidic bonds of sodium alginate and the formation of formate groups on the main chain under certain conditions. The changes in molecular weight were monitored by GPC-MALS. The molecular weight of 2 wt% alginate solution decreased from 450 to 15.9 kDa for 0.5 hrs at 50 $^{\circ}C$ under an appropriate ultrasonic irradiation. The PDI(polydispersity index)s of the alginate depolymerized in this study were considerably narrow in comparison with those obtained from the other chemical degradation method. The PDIs were in the range of 1.5~2.5 in any reaction conditions employed in this study.
Pycnogenol (PYC) is believed to have potential as a therapeutic agent against free radical-mediated oxidative stress. It is important, therefore, to understand the interactions between PYC and cellular defenses against oxidative stress. Toward this end, we analyzed the survival rates on the gene expression responses of E. coli sod katG mutants to PYC after pre-treatment of PQ or H$_2$O$_2$-mediated stress under aerobic conditions. We identified SOD induced by PYC, but not HP1 in sod hate mutants. A striking result was the PYC induction of SOD with antioxidant property in single katG mutant cells, particularly MnSOD and CuZnSOD. These inductions were further increased with oxidative stress, while HP1 was not induced in these conditions. The effects of pycnogenol treatment on these cells depend in part on its concentration on the stress response. Protective effects of PYC exposure which affected gene expression in cells were consistent with cell survival rates. Our results demonstrate that pycnogenol may alter the stress response gene expression in a specific manner such as SOXRS because PYC induction of single mutant only worked under increased PQ stress. All together our data indicate that SOD activity is essential for the cellular defense against PQ-mediated oxidative stress, suggesting that PYC may not be effective as an antioxidant in only oxidative stress conditions. On the other hand, it was expected that PYC may play a role as a pro-oxidant and if it is available for use, it should be evaluated carefully.
In this paper, firstly, I take the concept of korean traditional cultural archetype and cultural content, and discuss about methodology that the cultural archetype can be cultural content. As the methodology of making cultural content of cultural archetype, analyzing media art which used material of the painting and korea traditional dance in the Chosun Dynasty, the photograph in the era from the end of the Chosun Dynasty to modern age, and a folk play, etc. And then I would like to suggest that the method of making cultural content of the cultural archetype using new media.
Aerological observation at Heuksando located in south-western part of Koran Peninsula has been started at 1 June 2003. In order to clarify the improvement of meteorological prediction quality. it is necessary to compare between aerological data observed at Gawngju and Heuksando and to make clear the influence of Heuksando data assimilation. Therefore numerical simulations were carried out with High resolution meterological prediction system based on MM5(The 5th Generation Mesoscale Model). The pattern of wind and temperature field observed at Heuksando and Gwangju are different due to land surface friction End Sensible heat flux at surface and the wind field Simulated With Gwangju and Heuksando aerological data agree well with observation wind field. Although the amount of precipitation in these experiments is underestimated. the area and starting time of precipitation around Honam province in case with Heuksando data is more reliable that without the data.
As a demand of high-end steel raises, the importance of secondary refinement process also increases. However, the content of each component in molten steel, slag and inclusions change with the time, meaning the secondary refinement process is not an equilibrium state. Furthermore, many reactions occur between molten steel, slag, inclusion, refractory and alloying element during secondary refinement process. In order to consider the above complex reactions with non-equilibrium state, a few researchers developed kinetic models in secondary refinement process based on the experimental numerical equations. It is important to analyze and review to the previously reported models to develop a precise model. Therefore, in present study, the complex reaction models based on kinetic in secondary refinement process were analyzed, reviewed, and introduced. Moreover, the single reaction models also introduced which would be applied to the complex reaction models.
The rice culture techniques included 'Jodosukyungbeob'(旱稻水耕法 : culture techniques of early-ripening paddy rice), 'Mandosukyungbeob' (晩稻水耕法) : culture techniques of late-Ripening paddy rice 'Handobeob'(旱稻&lt;山稻&gt;法 : culture techniques of upland rice), 'Myojongbeob'(苗種法 : culture techniques of paddy rice by transplanting), 'Kunangbeob'(乾秧法 : culture techniques of rice by transplanting which rears seeding in dry paddy) and 'Sudogunpanongbeob'(水稻乾播農法 : culture techniques of paddy rice seeding in dry field). Especially, 'Kunangbeob' and 'Sudogunpanongbeob' were originally developed in Korea as seen in 1600s(Kyoungje : 經濟) and early 1800s (Yoji : 要旨). In 'Jodosukyungbeob' it took 9 days for seed dipping, water-sprouting and prevent damage by birds, each for 3 days in China, but in Korea seed dipping in water took 3 days and the rest of the procedures were flexibly established. In matured soils, practices were fall plowing right after harvest, recognition of effective tillering and additional fertilization use of human manure, and stimulation of sprouting by lime application. The unique culture techniques adequate for Korean situations were practiced, which included weed control after draining accurately for 3 to 4 times, draining at mid season for improving wind and drought tolerance, rice harvesting at appropriate time for preventing grain shattering, and seeding in rows. 'Mandosukyungbeob' was improved techniques contrast to those of China, and the major contents were selection of proper varieties, good stand establishment by seeding high rates, induction of vigorous tillers, and adoption of 'Jokjongbeob'(足種法 : seeding method by foot). Also, one of the most prominent rice cultures by our ancestors was 'Kunpanongbeob' that was systemized form habitual practice of Pyongan Province. The unique technique actualized was 'Hando [旱稻(山稻)]' culture technique which was the combinations of 'Jokjongbeob', root stimulation method, and disaster-tolerant mixture cropping with adoptation of variety theory, although it was originated from China. The transplanting techniques has come before 'Jikseol'($\ulcorner$直說$\lrcorner$) and its merits were sufficiently realized. However, this method was basically prohibited from the early Chosun dynasty because extremely bad harvest was expected under drought conditions and insufficient conditions of water storage. But, it was permitted in the areas that contained water all the times and in case of large-scale farming especially. Most of rice culture was transplanted in the end of the Chosun dynasty because transplanting was continuously spreaded in the three southern provinces of Korea. Under these circumstances, transplanting technique was improved from the early to the end of the Chosun dynasty by weed control, fertilizing, water management, and quadratic transplanting. Based on these techniques, agricultural productivity was improved 5 times by that time. 'Kunpanongbeob' was created and developed properly for Korean conditions that is dry in early season and flooding in late season. This was successively developed and established into transplanting technique of nursery seedling.
Purpose: To evaluate the precision of measurements taken of dental implants in bucco-lingually sectioned views of the maxilla by linear tomograms of the panorama and to assess the visibility of the inferior wall of the maxillary sinus. Materials and Methods : Eighty sites prepared with implants of gutta percha cone in the sockets of the upper premolars and molars of 10 dry skulls were radiographically examined using linear tomograms of panorama, and scanned coronally and axially by computed tomography. The differences in mm between the measurements in bucco-lingually sectioned images of maxillary alveolar bone and the true length and width of the implanted gutta percha cones were compared as mean values (mean) and standard deviations (SD) for each radiographic technique. Linear tomography of panorama was compared with computed tomography for visualization of the relationship between the inferior wall of maxillary sinus and the end of each implant. Results: The deviations between the actual implant length and the measured values taken from the linear tomograms (0.44±0.39 mm) was significantly less than the measured values from the multiplanar reconstructed images of the axially scanned computed tomogram (1.21 ± 0.90 mm). There was statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) between two techniques in the differences between the measurements and true implant length. The relationship of the inferior border of maxillary sinus with end of implant was worse identified with the linear tomogram of panorama (68%) than the multiplanar reconstructed image of axially scanned computed tomogram (99%). Conclusion: We could not find any differences in the accuracy of length measurement between the linear tomogram of panorama and computed tomogram, but computed tomogram allowed for a better visualization of the inferior wall of the maxillary sinus than the linear tomogram.
