Network Analysis and Trends of Articles in the Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles and International Journals (1977-2013) -Clothing Science Related- (1977~2013년 한국의류학회지와 해외 의류학 저널 출판논문의 연구동향 및 저자, 연구관계망 분석 -피복과학 분과를 중심으로-)

  • This study investigated original articles published in the Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles (JKSCT) from 1977 through 2013 with a consideration of the research collaboration structure. Two international journals were chosen: Textile Research Journal (TRJ) and International Journal of Clothing Science and Technology (IJCT) in order to compare the clothing science research trends of JKSCT-publications to international trends. The collected data from the three journals were used to probe periodic changes in the number of publications and nationality of authors to find the relative international position of Korean clothing and textile researchers. Figures, tables, and references in each article were counted to suggest the most suitable way to express and interpret clothing science results. In addition to the quantified data analysis, a qualified analysis was investigated with the co-author network analysis. The findings revealed an increase in the number of published articles in JKSCT until 2009 with the rapid decrease after. The number of co-authors in JKSCT was relatively small compared to TRJ and IJCT but growing in the clothing and textile science group. The number of references in JKSCT increased 3 times from 1977 to 2013; therefore, it was assumed there is more recent active clothing and textile research. Lastly, a pattern of authors' interaction and the most contributed authors in the network was illustrated in the clothing and textile science group. The present study confirms that JKSCT has made significant progress toward knowledge development in the clothing and textile field and suggests that the analysis of accumulative knowledge helps researchers broaden the scale and approach of studies.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate learning desire based on the interests, application of clothing and textiles in Technology Home Economics curriculum of middle school. For this research, a questionnaire survey was conducted to 404 middle school students living in Seoul and Kyunggi areas. The data was analyzed by frequency, descriptive statistics, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient, one-way ANOVA, and Duncan-test using SPSS 14.0. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, the perception of middle school student for Technology Home Economics was low. Students were interested not in the clothing and textile education but in getting dressed specially, and purchasing of clothes. Second, the more interested in the area of clothing and textiles, the higher is the application of apparels coordination, apparel purchase, and apparel management. And the more interested in the area of clothing and textiles, the higher is the desire in class contents. Therefore, teaching-learning methods should be developed to improve middle school students' interests, and applications in the clothing and textiles.

  • The purposes of the study are to investigate the emotional dimensions toward clothing and to examine the role of these emotional reactions in mediating the effects of clothing cues on an attitude toward the purchase of clothing. The results are as follows: 1. The emotional dimensions to clothing are pleasure and arousal. 2. The model demonstrates an important role of emotion (pleasure) as mediators in forming an attitude toward the purchase of clothing.

A Study on Clothing Behavior and Clothing Purchasing Behavior based on Value of University Students (남녀 대학생의 가치관에 따른 의복행동 및 의복구매행동 연구)

  • This study was intended to examine factor structure of value and clothing behavior and the effects of value on clothing behavior, to investigate clothing behavior and clothing purchasing behavior of the groups segmented by the value factors and the difference of those between male group and female group and to provide useful information for establishment of marketing strategies. The subjects were 575 university students. A total of 575 questionnaires was analyzed with factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, ${\chi}^2-test$, regression analysis, and correlation analysis. The results were as follows: 1. Value was composed of 2 factors: personal orientation value and social orientation value. Clothing behavior were composed of 9 factors: interest, fashion, statue symbol, individuality, psychological dependence, comfort, aesthetic sense, economical efficiency, and social approval. 2. Clothing behavior and clothing purchasing behavior were significantly different among 3 groups segmented by 2 value factors. 3. The effects of value on clothing behavior was significantly different. 4. The effects of value on clothing behavior, clothing behavior and clothing purchasing behavior between male group and female group were different.

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify the model of fashion change related to the cyclical variations suggested by Kroeber and Young and the selected social changes factors since Kapokyungchang(1894) in Korea. The sample was drawn from illustrations and photos in newspapers and magazines such as Chosunilbo, Dongailbo, and Yeowon. Documentary research and a content analysis have been done. The results were as follows : 1. Cyclical variations in dress were apparent for skirt length and silhouette. However, Kroeber's model and Young's model that regulary recurring cycles exist did not fit the data for 1970 to 1990 in Korea. For skirt length, the cycles appeared to be approximately five to six years for 1970 to 1990. 2. Social and institutional factors tended to account for more the variance in dress dimensions than political factors.

Research on High School Students’ Practical Awareness of Contents of Clothing and Textiles Education (의생활 교육내용에 대한 고등학생의 실천 의식 조사1))

  • The purpose of this study was to research high school students’ practical awareness about the contents(classify them into four units. choice and dressing of clothes. textile and management of clothes. design and sewing of clothes. knitting and embroidery) clothing and textiles education in their real life. This is the investigation of which 576 high school students located in Choongchungnam$.$bukdo. Junrabukdo, Daeseon. In this statistical analysis. SPSS 10.0 for Windows Program was utilized to calculate percentage. mean and standard deviation. Also. these materials were verified by t-test. One-way Anova . Pearson’s correlation coefficient. The main results of obtained this study are as follows High school students’ practical awareness about the contents of clothing and textiles education in their real life appears to be low(only 9 items were over median point of 3.0). There was a significant difference in Practical awareness of contents of clothing and textiles education according to demographic variables. and correlation of variables differed significantly. These results should be provide fundamental information for improving students’ practical practice in their real life Since this study has touched only limited research on the topic of clothing and textiles education. it is essential that further research covering a wider array of themes be done in the future.

Influence of Korean Instagram Users' Individualism/Collectivism Propensity, Social Capital and Instagram Usage Propensity on their Fashion Influencer's Attributes Evaluation (인스타그램 이용자의 개인주의/집단주의 성향, 사회적 자본 및 인스타그램 이용 성향에 따른 패션 인플루언서 속성 평가에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates the effects of fashion consumers' individualism collectivism propensity, social capital and Instagram usage propensity on evaluations for fashion influencer's attributes on Instagram. This study conducted a questionnaire survey of 20 to 30 year old male and female Instagram users. A total of 483 replies were submitted and 467 of the replies were used in the final analysis. The quantitative data collected through questionnaires were analyzed using reliability analysis using SPSS 18.0 while AMOS 18.0 was used to test the model fit and a structural equation modeling between the variables. The results indicated that vertical collectivism and vertical individualism were found to be related to relationship seeking propensity; only vertical individualism was found to be related to information seeking propensity. Furthermore, relationship seeking propensity and information seeking propensity were both related to the fashion influencer's attributes of professionalism, intimacy and attractiveness.
