Methodology based on the elastic-plastic fracture mechanics has been widely accepted in predicting the critical crack length(CCL) of pressure tubes of CANDU nuclear plants. A conservative estimate of CCL is obtained by employing the J-resistance curves measured with the specimens satisfying plane strain condition as suggested in the ASTM standard. Due to limited thickness of the pressure tubes the curved compact tension(CT) specimens taken out from tile pressure tube have been used in obtaining J-resistance curves. The curved CT specimen inevitably introduce slant fatigue crack during precracking. Hence, effect of specimen geometry and slant crack on J-resistance curve should be explored. In this study, the difference of J integral values between the standard CT specimens satisfying plane strain condition and the nonstandard curved CT with limited thickness (4.2mm) is estimated using finite element analysis. The fracture resistance curves of Zr-2.5Nb obtained previously by other authors are critically discussed. Various finite element analysis were conducted such as 2D analysis under plane stress and plane strain conditions and 3D analysis for flat CT, curved CT with straight crack and curved CT with slant crack front. J-integral values were determined by local contour integration near the crack tip, which was considered as accurate J-values. J value was also determined from the load versus load line displacement curve and the J estimation equation in the ASTM standard. Discrepancies between the two values were shown and suggestion was made for obtaining accurate J values from the load line displacement curves obtained by the curved CT specimens.

The comparison of $J_{Rice}$-resistance considering a few strength ratio in Rice J-integral formula and $J_{\delta}$-resistance curves converted from experimental CTOD using appropriate strength chosen according to strain hardening level, n=10.6 (A533B steel) and n=8.1 (BS4360 steel) is carried out. The optimal dimensionless strength ratio like the factor of revision, (see full text)reflecting strain hardening level in Rice\`s experimental formula is found out and the reliability of appropriate reference strength chosen according to strain hardening level in different materials is investigated through doing that CTOD is transformed from $J_{\delta}$-integral using relationship between J-integral and CTOD. The results are as follows; 1) The optimal factor of revision is when m equals to 3 in (see full text) for Rice's and the above optimal factor of revision multiplies by coefficient, η in Rice's experimental formula instead of n=2, 2) and the pertinent reference strength for high strain hardening material like BS4360 steel is ultimate strength, $\sigma_{u}$ and for material like A533B steel is ultimate-flow strength, $\sigma_{u-f}$. The incompatible of the behavior of both experimental J-resistance curves using Rice's formula and CTOD-resistance curves for A533B and BS4360 steel by Gordon, et al., could be corrected using the optimal factor of revision in Rice\`s and the pertinent reference strength in J=$m_{j}$${\times}$$\sigma_{i}$${\times}$CTOD.

The filtering ability of $J_0$ and $J_1$ digital linear filters is compared by means of an adaptive linear filter. Any $J_0$ domain Hankel transform integral can be transformed mathematically into its corresponding $J_1$ domain integral. The apparent resistivities for any electrode configuration employed in resistivity soundings can be evaluated with a single $J_1$ filter. The $J_1$ filter usually has similar accuracy to, but shorter length than, the corresponding $J_0$ filter. The domain transformation from $J_0$ to $J_1$ enables us to use effective expressions of apparent resistivity, involving $J_1$ alone, not only for Schlumberger but also for dipole-dipole array.

In this paper, the mongrel singular element with 6 node triangle and 8 node quadrilateral element with J-integral are developed and applied to the various plane crack problems for the isotropic material. The convergence nature is excellent for various crack size with even coarse mesh using the direct method. But the results of the mongrel element with J-integral are worse than the former's ones. Fracture tests were conducted on precracked CT specimens. Results show that, for 7075-T6 aluminum wing spar materials, the fracture toughness is 31.06 ksi.inch $\frac{1}{2}$ in the L-T direction.

The aim of this paper is to mainly establish the sufficient and necessary conditions for the boundedness of the commutator ����Ω,b which is generated by the parameter Marcinkiwicz integral ����Ω and the Lipschitz function b on generalized Orlicz-Morrey space L��,��(Rd) in the sense of the Adams type result (or Spanne type result). Moreover, the necessary conditions for the parameter Marcinkiewizcz integral ����Ω on the L��,��(Rd), and the commutator [b,����Ω] generated by the ����Ω and the space BMO on the L��,��(Rd), are also obtained, respectively.

A new path independent contour integral formulus for the distinct calculation of mode I stress intensity factors in two dimensional linear elastic fracture mechanics problems is presented. This method is based on p-convergence concepts and can be easily appended to existing finite element computer codes. In this study, the stress state at crack tip has been investigated and the path independence of J-integral values has been tested with respect to different contours expressed by normalized distance apart from the crack tip. Numerical results by p-convergence for the problems such as centrally cracked panels, single and double edged cracks in rectangular panels have been compared with those by the conventional h-convergence. The comparison demonstrates the accuracy and stability of the proposed method.

In this study, J-integral values obtained by various methods, i.e, R-Curve, Unloading Compliance, Strectched Zone Width [SZW], and Acoustic Emission [AE] methods are investigated. Elasto-plastic fracture toughness [$J_IC$] estimations by R-curve method are overestimated than those by SZW method, and those by unloading compliance method is around middle value of them. And the difference between them is little. The $J_IC$ value by AE method was almost agreed with that by SZW, and then proved to be useful. Crack propagation mechanism on fractography is a stable ductile fracture. For the identification of ductile fracture, both fractography analysis and AE method were applied to estimate the characteristics more precisely.

Some new nonlinear retarded integral inequalities of Gronwall-like type are established, which mainly generalized some results given by Cho, Dragomir and Kim (J. Korean Math. Soc. 43 (2006), No.3, pp. 563-578) and can be used in the analysis of various problems in the theory of certain classes of differential equations and integral equations. Applications examples are also indicated.
