An enhancement in the performance and safety of a high-level waste repository requires a validation of its engineered barrier. An engineering-scale test (named "KENTEX") has been conducted to investigate the thermal-hydro-mechanical behaviors in the engineered barrier of the Korean reference disposal system The validation test started on May 31, 2005 and is still under operation. The experimental data obtained allowed a preliminary and qualitative interpretation of the thermal-hydro-mechanical behaviors in the bentonite blocks. The temperature was higher as it became closer to the heater, while it became lower as it was farther away from the heater. The water content had a higher value in the part close to the hydration surface than that in the heater part. The relative humidity data suggested that a hydration of the bentonite blocks might occur by different drying-wetting processes, depending on their position. The total pressure was continuously increased by the evolution of the saturation front in the bentonite blocks and thereby the swelling pressure. Near the heater region, there was also a significant contribution of the thermal expansion of bentonite and the vapor pressure in the pores of the bentonite blocks.
The Electrical Test Bed(ETB) integrates the test environment, required for acceptance tests of system level, prior to FM testing. The ETB will be used for the validation of system-level functions and interface between each subsystem. The FTB supports early functional and limited performance checkout of electrical subsystems. Therefore, it provides the environment for the verification of the Flight Software including AOCS, EPS, and TC&R simulators. These ETB will be composed of engineering version of spacecraft BUS, which are laid on the laboratory table.

In this paper, validation of Driver Steering Model has been conducted. The comparison between the simulation model and vehicle test results shows that the model is very feasible for describing combined human driver and actual vehicle dynamic behaviors. The 3D vehicle model is consisted of 6-DOF sprung mass and 4-quarter car model for vehicle body dynamics. Powertrain model including differential gear and Pacejka tire model are applied. The driver steering model is also validated with vehicle test result. The driver steering model is based on angle and displacement error from the desired path, recognized by driver.
The comming of high speed computers with large memory size in recent years has allowed the practical development of codes which solve the Reynolds-averaged NAvier-Stokes (RANS) equations in three dimensions. Such codes are already used by the large engine manufacturers for the advanced design of some engine components. Different computational fluid dynamics approaches and turbulence models exist, and it seems essential today to establish their degree of validity for application to typical configurations in turbomachinery. In 1993 the Turbomachinery Committee of the IGTI of ASME has issued an open invitation to predict the flow details of an isolated transonic fan rotor called as NASA ROTOR 37. This paper reports this test case.

In this paper, a new extension of Lindley distribution has been introduced. Certain characterizations based on truncated moments, hazard and reverse hazard function, conditional expectation of the proposed distribution are presented. Besides, these characterizations, other statistical/mathematical properties of the proposed model are also discussed. The estimation of the parameters is performed through different classical methods of estimation. Bayes estimation is computed under gamma informative prior under the squared error loss function. The performances of all estimation methods are studied via Monte Carlo simulations in mean square error sense. The potential of the proposed model is analyzed through two data sets. A modified goodness-of-fit test using the Nikulin-Rao-Robson statistic test is investigated via two examples and is observed that the new extension might be used as an alternative lifetime model.
This study aims to develop the corporate philanthropy scale focusing on the guidelines of ISO26000 and to test its reliability and validity. For the purpose of this study, author conducted focus group interview, individually interview, consult and pilot test in order to clarify description and relevance of scale items. To test reliability and validation of scale, 94 staffs in charge of the corporate philanthropy work in the companies were surveyed as research subjects. The results of the explanatory factor analysis on scale found the six factor structure and 27 items. The construct validity and discriminant validity were confirmed through the confirmatory factor analysis. The reliability of the scale also remained at a high level. Based on these results, implications for corporate philanthropy was suggested.
The needs for satellite formation flying are gradually increasing to perform the advanced space missions in remote sensing and observation of the space or Earth. Formation flying in low Earth orbit can perform the scientific missions that cannot be realized with a single spacecraft. One of the various techniques of satellite formation flying is the determination of the precise baselines between the satellites within the formation, which has to be in company with the precision validation. In this paper, the baseline of Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE) A and B was determined with the real global positioning system (GPS) measurements of GRACE satellites. And baseline precision was validated with the batch and sequential processing methods using K/Ka-band ranging system (KBR) biased range measurements. Because the proposed sequential method validate the baseline precision, removing the KBR bias with the epoch difference instead of its estimation, the validating data (KBR biased range) are independent of the data validated (GPS-baseline) and this method can be applied to the real-time precision validation. The result of sequential precision validation was 1.5~3.0 mm which is similar to the batch precision validation.
The substation is a critical node in the power network where power is transformed in the power generation, transmission and distribution system. The IEC 61850 is a global standard which proposes efficient substation automation by defining interoperable communication and data modelling techniques. In order to achieve this level of interoperability and automation, the IEC 61850 (Part 6) defines System Configuration description Language (SCL). The SCL is an XML based file format for defining the abstract model of primary and secondary substation equipment, communications systems and also the relationship between them. It enables the interoperable exchange of data during substation engineering by standardizing the description of applications at different stages of the engineering process. To achieve the seamless interoperability, multi-vendor devices are required to adhere completely to the IEC 61850. This paper proposes an efficient algorithm required for verifying the interoperability of multi-vendor devices by checking the adherence of the SCL file to specifications of the standard. Our proposed SCL validation algorithm consists of schema validation and other functionalities including information model validation using UML data model, the Vendor Defined Extension model validation, the User Defined Rule validation and the IED Engineering Table (IET) consistency validation. It also integrates the standard UCAIUG (Utility Communication Architecture International Users Group) Procedure validation for quality assurance testing. Our proposed algorithm is not only flexible and efficient in terms of ensuring interoperable functionality of tested devices, it is also convenient for use by system integrators and test engineers.

Recently, research on the application of artificial intelligence in the chemical process has been increasing rapidly. However, overfitting is a significant problem that prevents the model from being generalized well to predict unseen data on test data, as well as observed training data. Cross validation is one of the ways to solve the overfitting problem. In this study, the time-series cross validation method was applied to optimize the number of batch and epoch in the hyperparameters of the prediction model for the 2,3-BDO distillation process, and it compared with K-fold cross validation generally used. As a result, the RMSE of the model with time-series cross validation was lower by 9.06%, and the MAPE was higher by 0.61% than the model with K-fold cross validation. Also, the calculation time was 198.29 sec less than the K-fold cross validation method.

There are relatively many research results of the validation of the cryptography. But few researches on the validation of cryptography implementations were accomplished. However, developer\`s misunderstanding the crypto-algorithm or a mistake in implementation of the crypto-a1gorithm leads to lose reliability of security products. Therefore, as validation of the crypto-algorithm itself also validation of the implementation is important. The major objective of this paper is to propose Security Products Validation Tool. Our tool validates implementation of the public key algorithm (RSA. KCDSA) and hash algorithm (SHA-1, HAS-170). The validation process is composed of several items and our tool performs validation teats for conformance to related standard.
