  • Purpose: The aims of the study were to develop and to establish reliability in Korean versions of World Health Organization Disability Assessment Schedule 2.0(KWHODAS 2.0): 12 item-self(12-self) and 12 item-interviewer(12-interviewer) versions. Methods: KWHODAS 2.0: 12-item versions were developed in idiomatic modern Korean with a process involving independent translation, synthesis of the translations, independent back translation, and review by an expert committee to achieve equivalence with the original English. 88 participants were included in the study. 33 of participants filled the 12-self version twice to examine test-retest reliability and 55 of participants were assessed simultaneously by four interviewers using the 12-interviewer version. Intra-rater reliability was evaluated using the intra-class correlation coefficient(ICC) and inter-rater reliability was evaluated using both the ICC and k statistic. Results: Test-retest reliability for the 12-self version was excellent with $ICC_{(2,1)}$ value ranged from 0.94(CI 0.88-0.98) to 0.96(CI 0.90-0.98). Inter-rater reliability for the 12-interviewer version showed excellent agreement with $ICC_{(2,1)}$ from 0.94(CI 0.91-0.96) to 1(CI 1.0-1.0). K value was observed from 0.95 to 1. Conclusion: KWHODAS 2.0: 12-self and 12-interviewer versions were successfully translated and both scales showed excellent reliability. It is now suitable for use in clinical and research applications.

  • This thesis aims to investigate the mediatorial effect of peer attachments and self-esteem between the child abuse by their parents and the adolescents' life-satisfaction. In order to achieve this goal, the author analyzed the data gathered over 6 year period, which subjected 1823 third-year middle school students, a sample selected by the stratified-multilevel-sampling from the "Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey". The author collected the source material by means of SPSS WIN. 21.0 Program, frequency analysis, technological statistic analysis, relative analysis, path analysis (for satisfaction), and sobel test, etc. The results of analysis are as follows: Firstly, the child abuse by their parents has had a significant negative maladjustment on the participants' life satisfaction level. Secondly, the peer attachments had an influence on partial mediatorial effect between the child abuse by their parents and adolescents' content(satisfied) lives. Lastly, the self-esteem had an influence on the complete mediatorial effect between the child abuse by their parents and the adolescents' happy lives. The author gave an improved counterplan for peer attachments and self-esteem. The author suggests following researchers to include the impact of versatile environmental factors on adolescents' life satisfaction level which was excluded in the present research.

  • The aim of this study is to examine the mediating effect of self-esteem in the relationship between adolescent stress and delinquency. For this study, a survey with 565 middle and high school students in Daegu Metropolitan City was carried out, and using the data collected, frequency analysis, descriptive statistic analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis and Sobel Test were conducted. The study results are as follows. First, stress had a positively significant effect on delinquency. Second, stress had a negatively significant effect on self-esteem. Third, self-esteem had a negatively significant effect on delinquency. This shows that a high level of stress among adolescents led to an increase in delinquency. Also, a high level of stress perceived by adolescents negatively influenced self-esteem, a low level of self-esteem is related to an increase in delinquency, and self-esteem had a partial mediating effect. Based on these results, therefore, this study suggested methods of introducing a mental health program for reducing adolescent stress and improving self-esteem and of preventing and intervening in delinquency.

  • Because cancer is not curable, patients who suffer from the cancer disease may have physical, psychological and spiritual problems for the rest of their lives. Especially, when cancer patients do not have the meaning in their lives, they will experience spiritual distress seriously. This study was conducted to provide a basis for nursing intervention strategies to minimize the cancer patients' spiritual distress and understand the relationship between the meaning of life and the spiritual distress in cancer patients. The samples were composed of 62 cancer patients who were inpatients or outpatients of three university hospital and one general hospital in Seoul. Data collection was carried out from January 10,1998 to May 30, 1998. Data were analyzed using a SAS program for descriptive statistic, Pearson correlation, t-test, ANOVA, LSD test and linear regression. The results were as follows; 1. The scores on the meaning of life scale ranged from 20 to 140 with a mean of 94. 16(Standard error: 2.79). 2. The scores on the spiritual distress scale ranged from 13 to 91 with a mean of 62. 29(Standard error: 1.38). 3. There were significant correlations between the meaning of life and the spiritual distress(r=.53. p=.00). 4. The linear regression analysis showed that the meaning of life explained 29% of the spiritual distress. 5. In the degree of the meaning of life and the spiritual distress according to the general characteristics, the level of the meaning of life in cancer patients were different by age(F=3. 42, p=.03), marriage status(F=6.06, p=.00), religion(F=4.21, p=.01), thought about treatment of cancer(F=3.76, p=.04). And the level of the spiritual distress in cancer patients were different by religion(F=7.56, p=.00). • This paper proposed symbol rate method which does not require a priori knowledge on the symbol rate and simplified modulation identification method to classify BPSK, QPSK, 8PSK signal. In order to estimate the unknown symbol rate, sliding FFT and simple moving average to estimate the spectrum of the signals is utilized, and sliding window and decimation, LPF blcok to estimate the proper symbol rate is used. Although conventional modulation ID method must use SNR value as the test statistics, the receiver cannot estimate the SNR value since the receiver cannot know the modulation type at the start of communication, and bit resolution is high due to using nonlinear function such as log, cosh. Therefore, we proposed the simplified fixed SNR value method. The performance of symbol rate estimation and modulation ID is shown using Monte Carlo computer simulation. This paper show that symbol rate estimation also has good performance in low SNR, and proposed simplified fixed SNR method has almost equivalent performance compared to conventional method.

  • In the correlation formulas related to consolidation proposed at present, the analyzed areas are limited to certain overseas or domestic areas and in order to increase the number of data, experimental data of different areas are integrated and therefore in many cases application is difficult. In addition, models have been developed without clear statistic evaluation of the obtained data. Accordingly, this study divided the soft areas of the west coast into Hangang, Kumgang and Yeongsangang in order to maximally reduce uncertainty of the experimental data and performed normality test and regression analysis on the physical and dynamic characteristics. According to the analysis result, the compression index and the modified compression index had strong linearity and in all areas modified compression index and initial void ratio had closest correlation, followed by total unit weight, water contents and liquid limits. As for overconsolidation ratio with depth, the width of overconsolidation ratio was large when the depth was less than 5 to 6 m in all areas and when the depth was over 5 to 6 m, the ratio was constant.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the flexure stregth of posterior 4-unit acrylic resin bridge with different pontic designs : 1) Conventional pontic 2) Hygienic pontic and 3) Modified hygienic pontic. All specimens were made of self-curing acrylic resin for provisional restorations. Self-curing acrylic resin was filled in a silicone mold by the drop-on technique ; and was polymerized in a pressure spot under 20 psi pressure. The test specimens which were simply shaped posterior 4-unit bridge were 38mm ion 4mm wide, and 35mm thick(connector : 3mm thick). Each specimen was subjected to an increasing load of Instron machine with its tip centered on the specimen at 90-degree angle, and the machine was operated with its load cell of 50kg and its crosshead speed, 2mm/minute : and then the load values at the moment of the fracture of them were recorded. This study was also performed to analyze their stress distributions by the finite element method. The obtained results were as follows : 1. Flexure strength of the hygienic pontic(9.78kg) and the modified hygienic pontic(10.17kg) was higher than that of conventional pontic(6.96kg). But no significant difference was found between the hygienci pontic and the. modified hygienic pontic. The above statistic values were appraised by ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test 2. Stress was concentrated on the middle portion in every group : and the stress of conventional pontic was found the greatest of all pontic designs.
