  • Purpose: Test & Evaluation items are main contents which verify performance of the development system and they are deduced going through project management system stages. However, there is no systematic or standardized framework for Test & Evaluation items, so a lot of differences occur between projects and people are questioning whether verification items are selected for the optimization of the development system. In this regard, this research proposes the process of deducing Test & Evaluation items in a systematic way during a development stage by applying QFD (Quality Function Deployment) technique which reflects customers' requirements. Methods: Test & Evaluation items are recognized as customers' requirements, and QFD technique which refines and gathers various requirements of customers effectively during general products' development stage is applied to complete HOQ (House of Quality) Conclusion: There is no specific methodology for Test & Evaluation items, so currently, they are selected by including items which are given by similar projects or higher authorities. However, by utilizing QFD technique, selection of evaluation items which goes through more systematic process is expected to be possible.

  • Purpose. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a rehabilitation program on hope and self-efficacy in a sample of homeless adolescent substance abusers at a halfway house in Seoul, Korea. Methods. Five residents of a halfway house were provided with a 16-week rehabilitation program based on a cognitive-behavioral approach. To evaluate the effectiveness of the program, this study used a single-case experimental design with the variables - hope and self-efficacy - being measured at pre-, post-, and follow-up tests. Results. While three participants showed considerable positive changes in hope and self-efficacy after the program, two participants did not show any positive changes. Despite this lack of consistent patterns in the effectiveness of the rehabilitation program, there was a qualitative change in social status (such as academic and work status) for the participants at the follow-up test. Conclusion. A rehabilitation program based on a cognitive-behavioral approach may improve the hope and self-efficacy of homeless adolescent substance abusers at a halfway house and help them to reintegrate into society.

  • Thermal performance of test cell of model hot water Ondol house was simulated by equivalence heat resistence and heat capacity method. In this method wall was replaced by two equivalence and one heat capacity. This method enables to simulate the variation of temperature of each element of model house. The effect of pipe diameter, pitch of pipe and with or without consideration of inter-radiation between wall surfaces on the energy consumption rate were investgated. Results show that radiations between the ground surface of room and wall surfaces contribute to the heating of room air by reducing the convection heat loss through the wall surfaces.

  • Han-green building is one of the modernized Korean traditional buildings developed by Korea Forest Research Institute. This building was developed to increase the competitiveness of Korean traditional building using state-of-art technologies; hence Han-green building has the inherent characteristics of traditional building such as exposed wood frame in wall. Because of discontinuity in wall by the exposed wood frame, there is a concern on heat-air leaking in terms of energy performance. In this study, air-tightness of Han-green building was evaluated to investigate the influence of gaps between frames and in-fill walls. Blower door test was carried out to evaluate the air-tightness, and air-change rate (ACH50) was evaluated by averaging four set of pressurization and depressurization test. The air-change rate of Han-green house was 5.91 $h^{-1}$. To improve energy performance of Han-green house, thermal infrared images of Han-green house were taken in winter with heating to find out where the heat loss occurred. It was found that the building lost more heat through gaps between frames and in-fill walls rather than through other parts of this building. After covering all the gaps by taping, the blower door test was performed again, and the air-change rate was improved to 5.25 $h^{-1}$. From this analysis, it was concluded that the heated air can leak through the gaps between frames and walls. Therefore, when one designs the post and beam building with exposed frame, the detail design between frame and wall needs to be carefully dealt. However, Han-green building showed relatively high air-tightness comparing with other country research results.

  • Objectives: This study attempted to investigate the allergic histories and the distribution of offending allergens in the general public and further to help their diagnosis and treatment with Oriental Medicine. Methods: Allergic skin tests (AST) were performed and allergic histories were taken of 359 members of the general public who visited the International Exhibition on Oriental Medicine from Sept. 1 to Sept. 5, 2000. The allergen reagents for AST were three (House dust, D. farinae, Dog hair) and the control reagent was histamine solution. Results: 1.50.1 % of the subjects (n=359) were positive to AST. The ratio between males' positivity and females' was 1.06:1. 2. The younger the subjects were, the higher the positivity was. 3. The positive subjects' (n=180) positivity to three allergens was as follows: D. farinae 98.9%, House dust 30.0%, Dog hair 1.7%. 4. The younger the positive subjects were, the higher the positivity to House dust was. In contrast, the positivity to D. farinae was high in all age groups. 5.71.1 % of the positive subjects reacted positively to monotype allergen and 28.9% reacted positively to multiple allergens (2.46:1). The most common monotype allergen was D. farinae (98.4%) and the most common combination of multiple allergens was House dust and D. farinae (94.2%). 6.52.8% of the positive subjects (n=180) and 51.4% of the negative subjects (n=179) represented the history of allergic diseases. There was no relationship between allergic skin test and allergic diseases. Conclusion: To help in diagnosis and treatment with oriental medicine, research to analyze the relationship between allergic skin test and allergic diseases should be continued on the basis of Oriental medical theories.

  • Two field test installations are discussed. In the first one a new ammonia sensor and an accurate ventilation rate sensor are combined. They are installed in the exhaust chimney in a ventilated pig house. The relative humidity and the room temperature are measured as well. In the second one, an in situ NH$_3$longrightarrowNO converter with subsequent NOx analyser is also being added for accurate ammonia measurement . In this way , the continuous measurement of the total NH$_3$emission can be obtained , the performance of the NH$_3$ sensor can be evaluated, and the ammonia reduction techniques can be tested. The outputs of measurement are fed into a data acquisition system then to a PC in the laboratory. There has been realised the first test installation with which research on the new ammonia sensor is carried out. The primary research results are presented.
