  • In this paper, we study on a higher order extremal problem relating the Ahlfors map associated to the pair of a finitely connected domain in the complex plane and a point there. We show the power of the Ahlfors map with some error term which is conformally equivalent maximizes any higher order derivative of holomorphic functions at the given point in the domain.

  • Functions of the building structures are recently expended, because the structures are getting larger and people's indoor staying times are getting longer. Therefore, various functional materials such as yellow mud, carbon soot, and jade are widely used. But functions of those materials have not permanent and continued an effect. Specially, the development of construction materials containing anti-insect is highly important to delight the environment of residence. This research try to examine to develop the mortar and concrete which contain microcapsules with long-term effect of anti-insect.

  • This paper deals with the scheduling and simulation for FMC(Flexible Manufacturing Cells). In order to achieve CIM, there is a critical need to link factory level and machine level. The primary functions performed by this link for all jobs issued to the shop floor and cell include short-term scheduling and dynamic operational scheduling. Here, hierarchical control structure is introduced to define these functions. And Intelligent scheduling through expert module is adopted for efficiency of FMC operation. Computer simulation reveals that expert scheduling method is better than heuristics in various performance index.

  • From a notion of d-pseudo-orthogonality for a sequence of poly-nomials ($d\;\in\;{2,3,\cdots}$), this paper introduces three different characterizations of natural exponential families (NEF's) with polynomial variance functions of exact degree 2d-1. These results provide extended versions of the Meixner (1934), Shanbhag (1972, 1979) and Feinsilver (1986) characterization results of quadratic NEF's based on classical orthogonal polynomials. Some news sets of polynomials with (2d-1)-term recurrence relation are then pointed out and we completely illustrate the cases associated to the families of positive stable distributions.

  • In this article, we establish Hilbert-type integral inequalities with the help of a non-homogeneous kernel of hyperbolic function with best constant factor. We also study the obtained inequalities's equivalent form. Additionaly, several specific Hilbert's type inequalities with constant factors in the term of the rational fraction expansion of higher order derivatives of cotangent and cosine functions are presented.

  • In this paper, the long-term hemispheric variation of the polar faculae is investigated. It is found that, (1) both the N-S asymmetry and N-S asynchrony of the polar faculae exhibit a long-term persistence, which suggests that they should not be regarded as a stochastic phenomenon; (2) both the N-S asynchrony and N-S asymmetry of the polar faculae are functions of the latitude, implying that the N-S asynchrony of the polar faculae is related to the N-S asymmetry of the polar faculae; (3) from a long-term view, the dominant hemisphere of the polar faculae seems to have close connection with the phase-leading hemisphere of the polar faculae.

  • This article introduces the five functions of the national innovation system (NIS). As the national innovation system is a kind of social systems in the national level, the five generic functions of open system-production boundary spanning, maintenance, adaptation management functions-are applied to the NIS. The production function is the primary process, which produces innovative products and services of the NIS. The boundary spanning function is the function of procuring the input and disposing the innovation output or aiding in these process. Experienced R&D human resources, R&D funds, technology etc. belong to the input of the NIS. The maintenance function is responsible for the smooth operation and upkeep of the system in terms of various conditions. The adaptive function is to help the system change and adapt, scan the environment for problems, opportunities, and technological developments. It faces outward for the survival of the system from the long-term view. The management function carries out planning and controlling the overall activities for the other four functions in order to run the system. Finally it discuses implications for the diagnosis and the decision making process of S&T policy.

  • Common problems encountered when orthogonal functions are used in system analysis and state estimation are the time consuming process of high order matrix inversion required in finding the Kronecker products and the truncation errors. In this paper, therefore, a method for the analysis of bilinear systems using Walsh, Block pulse, and Haar functions is devised, Then, state estimation of bilinear system is also studied based on single term expansion of orthogonal functions. From the method presented here, when compared to the other conventional methods, we can obtain the results with simpler computation as the number of interval increases, and the results approach the original function faster even at randomly chosen points regardless of the definition of intervals. In addition, this method requires neither the inversion of large matrices on obtaining the expansion coefficients nor the cumbersome procedures in finding Kronecker products. Thus, both the computing time and required memory size can be significantly reduced.

  • What changes in the eigen values and eigen functions are produced if the boundary surface S is no longer rigid but has a specific acoustic admittance which may vary from point to point on S. In this paper, changes in eigen values and eigen functions are derived by using Kirchhoff-Helmholtz integral equation. And acoustic potential energy, which is representative measure describing the physical quantity in cavity, is defined. Acoustic potential energy can be divided into primary one and secondary one. Primary one is the acoustic potential energy through unchanged eigen functions, and secondary one is through changed eigen functions. Using these two term, we can find the eigenvalue problem, which gives the control performance when the boundary condition is changed.

  • One of the reasons students have difficulty in studying probability is that they do not understand the meaning of mathematical terms precisely. One such term is a continuous random variable. Students tend not to think of the accurate definition of continuous random variables but to understand the definition of continuity of functions and the meaning of continuity in probability as equal. In this study, we try to explore the degree of pre-service teachers' understanding on the concept of continuation of functions and continuous random variables. To do this, the questionnaire items related to continuous random variables and continuity of functions were developed by experts and examined by pre-service teachers. Based on this, we make suggestions on implications for teaching and learning about continuous random variables.
