The purpose of this study is to get a more fundamental definition of the term Architecture and Geonchuk through analyzing the origin and reception of the terminus technicus Architektonike. In Latin world the greek term Architektonike was adopted and replaced the term Constructio by Vitruvius and has played a significant role in the history of architecture. In the late 19th Century however, the word Architecture was translated into Geonchuk(建築) and has been dominantly used in countries such as Korea, Japan, and China. But the difference of the denotation between them has not yet been fully evaluated. The term Geonchuk signifies much the same as the Tektonik and remains as such in the architectural discourse. In this context, this study goes back to refer to the philosophy of Metaphysics by Aristotle. In his book the term Architektonike was defined for the first time as terminus technicus, and the philosophies in later Ages of Leibniz or of Kant adopted it to signify the world view in accordance with the time. However, the original thought of the Architektonike disappeared in architectural practice and has been used in most cases as a substitute for Oikodomike which denotes house-building. The usage of this word in later time shows that it lost its foundation to be interpreted not only in terms of principium cognoscendi, but also in terms of principium reale. From this the literal usage of the term architecture and Geonchuk has seldom to do with its original meaning and denotation of Architektonike and also they lost the status of terminus technicus for the discourse of arche which encompasses the meaning of both principle and universal order.

As the main mathematical concepts are presented and expressed in various ways through textbooks during the teaching and learning process, it is necessary to look at the representations used in elementary math textbooks to find effective guidance. This study analyzed sentences used in the definition of mathematical terms and unit assessments of current elementary mathematics textbooks according to word depth (Yngve, 1960) from a syntactic perspective. As a result of the analysis, it could be seen that the sentences in textbook were generally concise, the word depth was lower, and the sentence structure and form were different depending on the individual characteristics of each term. Also, the sentences in the lower grade textbooks were more easily constructed, and the sentences of the term definition were more complex than the sentences of the unit assessments. Efforts should be made to help learners learn mathematical concepts, such as clarifying sentences in textbooks, presenting visual materials together, and providing additional explanations to suit the level of individual learners.

Depending on the definition used, between 3% and 10% of live neonates are small for gestational age (SGA). The definition of SGA requires the following: (1) accurate knowledge of gestational age; (2) accurate measurements at birth of weight, length, and head circumference; (3) a cutoff, which has been variably set at the 10th percentile, 3rd percentile, or at less than 2 standard deviation from the mean, and (4) race and ethnicity-specific growth curve. Consensus statements are needed on the management of growth hormone therapy in SGA children, as well as treatment and long-term health outcomes such as impaired cognitive function, increased risk of adult cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes.

There is an increasing trend of medical devices and products moving out of hospitals and clinics into community and residual homes for use by the general public due to both the technological developments and demographic changes resulted from the increased life expectancy and decreased birth rate. In Korea, however, the definition of "home medical device" is rather ambiguous and we thus compared the definition of the term used in the global market with that in Korea. FDA definition of "home medical device" includes the devices intended for use in both professional healthcare facilities and home. The KFDA, does not provide the definition for the "home medical device"and the definition has only been inferred from the results of consumer surveys. With a paradigm shift in advent of u-healthcare era, the definition of "home medical device" in Korea should include the medical devices that could be used both at hospitals and at home.

An increasing concern is paid to short-term voltage stability with the growth of penetration of induction motor loads. Reactive power reserve(RPR) of power system is critical to improve voltage stability. A definition of short-term voltage stability-related RPR(SVRPR) is proposed. Generators vary their contributions to voltage stability with their location and system condition, etc. Voltage support coefficient based on the second-order trace sensitivity method is proposed to evaluate SVRPR's contribution to short-term voltage stability. The evaluation method can account for the generator's reactive support in transient process and the contingency severity. Then an optimization model to improve short-term voltage stability is built. To deal with multiple contingencies, contingency weight taking into account both its probability and severity is proposed. The optimization problem is solved by primal dual interior point method. Testing on IEEE_39 bus system, it is indicated that the method proposed is effective. Short-term voltage stability is improved significantly by the way of SVRPR optimization. Hence, the approach can be used to prevent the happening of voltage collapse during system's contingency.

There are certain polemics regarding what kind of approach is most appropriate in the study of urban cluture. The tension seems to come from the misunderstanding of each other. A major source of the misunderstanding is different usage of the term 'culture' The lerm 'culture' may be interpreted either as way of life (fig. 1), system of meaning (fig. 2), the fourth structural condition (fig. 3), sophisticated taste (fig. 4), a superstructure of intellect and arts (fig. 5), biological supporting system (fig. 6), or all encompassing conditions (fig. 7). Whatever definition is taken for the term 'culture', there is a parallel definition of 'environment' for each stance (figures 1 - 7) What kind of definition is adopted matters because each of them is deeply rooted in different perspectives and focuses. It however, seems impossible to completely deny or disprove the utility of any of the slances. This, we may have to accept the diversity of definitions and consider urban cultural geography as a basket in which diverse concepts and perspectives are collected and nurtured.

A systems biology approach for the identification of perturbed molecular functions is required to understand the complex progressive disease such as breast cancer. In this study, we analyze the microarray data with Gene Ontology terms of molecular functions to select perturbed molecular functional modules in breast cancer tissues based on the definition of Gene ontology Functional Code. The Gene Ontology is three structured vocabularies describing genes and its products in terms of their associated biological processes, cellular components and molecular functions. The Gene Ontology is hierarchically classified as a directed acyclic graph. However, it is difficult to visualize Gene Ontology as a directed tree since a Gene Ontology term may have more than one parent by providing multiple paths from the root. Therefore, we applied the definition of Gene Ontology codes by defining one or more GO code(s) to each GO term to visualize the hierarchical classification of GO terms as a network. The selected molecular functions could be considered as perturbed molecular functional modules that putatively contributes to the progression of disease. We evaluated the method by analyzing microarray dataset of breast cancer tissues; i.e., normal and invasive breast cancer tissues. Based on the integration approach, we selected several interesting perturbed molecular functions that are implicated in the progression of breast cancers. Moreover, these selected molecular functions include several known breast cancer-related genes. It is concluded from this study that the present strategy is capable of selecting perturbed molecular functions that putatively play roles in the progression of diseases and provides an improved interpretability of GO terms based on the definition of Gene Ontology codes.

According to it, a final goal of this study sets up 'Renovation of the Red brick architecture' and development of theoretical foundation and substantial conservation about Red brick architecture through historical records must be settled without delay. Firstly, it analyzes related terminology and adjusts brick architecture's history and features for architectural authenticity about Red brick architecture. It would study production and construction process of brick in korea. From analysis of records, brick of traditional meaning is 'Jeondol' and western brick of modern meaning is 'Red brick'. 'Brick' defines a common designation. This study shows definition of words based on documents published until 19th century and a korean language and architecture terms dictionary. In view of this results, the meaning of brick which combines different types extensively uses 'Chu', 'Jeon', 'Byeok' according to the purpose of use and the current of the times. In case of 'Jeon', it uses jointly different types such as '塼', '磚', '甎'. but '塼' is frequently used. Even though these words like 'byeok' used individual or combination types until the late 19th century, there is no use because of japanese terms in japanese colonial. After liberation, it was the term of the traditional brick. Brick is generally used through modern times. In an unabridged Korean language dictionary, it defines this term as orthodox korean '壁乭' and '?乭'. At that time of japanese colonial, 'Yeonwa(煉瓦)' used in combination with brick. Due to influence it, it partly uses until now but it is not in common use. Also, a Korean language dictionary contains transcription of 'Yeonwa' with same definition as 'Byeokdol'. In the other side, it results from translating japanese into Korean. It would make exact definition of 'Yeonwa'.

The purpose of this study is to present solutions to expanding added-term relations which will fit new information retrieval environment. This report reviews standards for ISO 2788 and ANSI/NISO Z 39.19, and compares and analyzes 20 thesaurus added-term relations currently used to find out problems and limitations. Based on findings of the study, this report suggests how to expand thesaurus added-term relations to accomodate changes in information retrieval environment. In order to solve those problems, this report presents solutions to expanding added-term relationships as follows: First, definition was separated from scope note and scope note is categorized by type. Second, principles for the use of qualifiers are presented. Third, principles for expanding of descriptor term information are presented.

The department of education developed editing data of fisheries and shipping high school subject in 1987. But as change to informational society, the new term and predicate were built on a textbook of fisheries and shipping that was not in the past. Terms came into being in this way, it was used indiscreetly by spending a different expression on a textbook. In this study based on currently subject of fisheries and shipping high school 36books, examined an elementary school junior high school and a definition related term in order to solve these problems. Specialist on each field selected term and the predicate which is objective and proper. Especially field of fisheries and shipping uses a japanese term as it is. So there are a lot of the terms that is hard for students. Using these terms yet, the term that meaning delivery is uncertain and hard expression is going to carry out role to convert to a clear and easy term through this study.
