Finite element analysis using modern constitutive equation is one of the most general tools to simulate the deformation behavior and to predict the life of the structure. Constitutive equation becomes complicated so as to predict the material behavior more accurately than the classical models. Because of the complexity of constitutive model, numerical treatment becomes so difficult that the calculation should be verified carefully. One-element tests, simple tension or simple shear, are usually used to verify the accuracy of finite element analysis using complicated constitutive model. Since this test is mainly focused on the time integration scheme, it is also necessary to verify the equilibrium iteration using material stiffness matrix and to compare FE results with solution of structures. In this investigation, viscoplastic solution of thick walled cylinder was derived considering axial constraints and was compared with the finite element analysis. All the numerical solutions showed a good coincidence with FE results. This numerical solution can be used as a verification tool for newly developed FE code with complicated constitutive model.

In this paper, the virtual reality system is tried to developed, which controls not only the sense of sight and hearing but also the sense of touch, In order to develope the sense of touch in this study, the stable tactual transaction system, based on summing up the basic algorithm and theory is embodied. Especially, the graphic deformation algorithm is developed in realtime with using the deformed FEM. To apply the FEM, a deformed material model is produced and then the graphic deformation with this model is able to force. Finally, the graphic transaction algorithm is deduced by the realtime calculation and simplification because the purpose of this system is to transact in real time. The result of this study is that the proposed system is possible to deform the graphics and transact the haptic in real time in PC. The simulation program has been made to prove this result.
Road or Railway construction over soft ground is needed to be considered on secondary consolidation which will be caused differential settlement, lack of transport serviceability, higher maintenance cost. Especially for the railway construction in the second phase of Gyung-Bu or Ho-Nam high speed railway, concrete slab track has been adapted as a safe and cost effective geotechnical solution. In this case controlling the total settlement under the tolerance is essential. And pile supported geogrid reinforced construction method is suggested as a solution for the problem of the traditional method on soft soil treatments. Pile supported geogrid reinforced construction method consists of piles that are designed to transfer the load of the embankment through the compressible soil layer to a firm foundation. The load from the embankment must be effectively transferred to the piles to prevent punching of the piles through the embankment fill creating differential settlement at the surface of the embankment. The arrangement of the piles can create soil arching to carry the load of embankment to the piles. In order to minimize the number of piles geogrid reinforced pile supported construction method is being used on a regular basis. This method consists of one or more layers of geogrid reinforcement placed between the top of the piles and the bottom of the embankment. This paper presents several methods of pile supported geogrid reinforced construction and calculation results from the several methods and comparison of them.
In a severe accident of light water reactor (LWR), molten core material (corium) can be released into the wet cavity, and a fuel-coolant interaction (FCI) can occur. The molten jet with high speed is broken and fragmented into small debris, which may cause a steam explosion or a molten core concrete interaction (MCCI). Since the premixing stage where the jet breakup occurs has a large impact on the severe accident progression, the understanding and evaluation of the jet breakup phenomenon are highly important. Therefore, in this study, the jet breakup simulations were performed using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) method which is a particle-based Lagrangian numerical method. For the multi-fluid system, the normalized density approach and improved surface tension model (CSF) were applied to the in-house SPH code (single GPU-based SOPHIA code) to improve the calculation accuracy at the interface of fluids. The jet breakup simulations were conducted in two cases: (1) jet breakup without structures, and (2) jet breakup with structures (control rod guide tubes). The penetration depth of the jet and jet breakup length were compared with those of the reference experiments, and these SPH simulation results are qualitatively and quantitatively consistent with the experiments.

A coupled dynamic analysis of a semisubmersible-type FOWT has been carried out in time domain under the combined action of irregular wave and turbulent wind represented respectively by JONSWAP spectrum and Kaimal spectrum. To account for the turbine-floater motion coupling in a more realistic way, the wind turbulence has been incorporated into the calculation of aerodynamic loads. The platform model was referred from the DeepCwind project and the turbine considered here was the NREL 5MW Baseline. To account for the operationality of the turbine, two different environmental conditions (operational and survival) have been considered and the aerodynamic effect of turbine-rotation on actual responses of the FOWT has been studied. Higher mean offsets in surge and pitch responses were obtained under the operational condition as compared to the survival condition. The mooring line tensions were also observed to be sensitive to the rotation of turbine due to the turbulence of wind and overestimated responses were found when the constant wind was considered in the analysis. Additionally, a special analysis case of sudden shutdown of the turbine has also been considered to study the swift modification of responses and tension in the mooring cables.
In this paper, forced vibration was used to regulate the droplet migration, fully recording the transient migration of droplets on a micro-textured substrate under the resonance frequency by a high-speed camera. The influence of resonance frequency and dynamic migration characteristics of droplets on the solid micro-texture surface under lateral vibration were researched. The experiment demonstrates that the driving force is caused by the difference between the left and right contact angles made the droplet oscillate and migrate, and as time t increases, the left and right contact points are periodically shifted and the amplitude of migration increases. Therefore, based on the droplet migration behavior and its force balance mechanism, a spring vibration model of migration behavior of the vibrating droplet micro unit was set up to predict the complete trajectory of its migration on a solid surface. The calculation results show that the theoretical displacement is less than the experimental displacement, and the longer the time, the larger the difference. Affected by the vibration, part of the droplet permeates through the micro-texture, resulting in the droplet losing height and the contact angle becoming smaller as well. While the other part of droplet overcomes the internal surface tension to migrate.
Perfobond rib connectors are widely used in composite structures to achieve the composite action between the steel and the concrete, and empirical expressions for their strength and secant stiffness have been obtained by numerical simulations or push-out tests. Since perfobond connections are generally in an elastic state in the service process and the structural analysis are always based on the elastic properties of the members, the secant stiffness is not applicable for the normal structural analysis. However, the tangent stiffness of perfobond connections has not been introduced in previous studies. Moreover, the perfobond connections are bearing tension and shear force simultaneously when the composite beams subjected to torque or local loads, but the current studies fail to arrive at the elastic stiffness considering the combined effects. To resolve these discrepancies, this paper investigates the initial elastic stiffness of perfobond connections under combined forces. The calculation method for the elastic stiffness of perfobond connections is analyzed, and the contributions of the perfobond rib, the perforating rebar and the concrete dowel are investigated. A finite element method was verified with a high value of correlation for the test results. Afterwards, parametric studies are carried out using the reliable finite element analysis to explore the trends of several factors. Empirical equations for predicting the initial elastic stiffness of perfobond connections are proposed by the numerical regression of the data extracted by parametric studies. The equations agree well with finite element analysis and test results, which indicates that the proposed empirical equations reflect a high accuracy for predicting the initial elastic stiffness of perfobond connections.
Emotional awareness is the image of a person is represented by different tendencies. Currently, the emotion computing to objectively evaluate the emotion recognition research is being actively studied. However, existing emotional computing research has many problems to run. First, the non-objective in emotion recognition if it is inaccurate. Second, the correlation between the emotion recognition is unclear points. So to test the regularity of image sensitivity to the need of the present study is to control emotions in the computing system. In addition, the screen number of the emotion recognized for the purpose of this study, applying the method of objective image emotional computing system and compared with a similar degree of emotion of the person. The key features of the image emotional computing system calculates the emotion recognized as numbered digital form. And to study the background of emotion computing is a key advantage of the effect of the James A. Russell for digitization of emotion (Core Affect). Pleasure emotions about the core axis (X axis) of pleasure and displeasure, tension (Y-axis) axis of tension and relaxation of emotion, emotion is applied to the computing research. Future research will need to be maintained weight room and the study of the emotional equation of a higher concordance rate improved.

The simplified method drawing the S-N curves in welding joints of the cover plates, the transverse stiffners and the gusset plates of the plate girders by calculation and its computer program without the direct fatigue tests, was established. And the method was applied to the Young- Dong Great Bridge, the 3 th Han River Bridge and the Kang Chon Bridge. Before this, SS 41, SS 50, SWS 50 and SWS 58 were selected, then the compact tension specimens were made by the use of these materials, the things welded by these materials transversely and the ones longitudinally to the crack propagation direction. The fatigue tests were performed by the use of these 'specimens, and the values of material constants c and m were obtained. By these results the followings were obtained. It was showed that the fatigue: strength in the case of the cover plates was much lower than in the case of other two cases. It was showed that, in the case of the cover plates with the cover plates thicker the fatigue strength was lower, but besides this the fatigue strength was not much influenced by the size of specimens. It was showed that in the difference from this the fatigue strength was sensitively influenced by the values of c and m. It was showed that in accordance with the lower values of c and m the fatigue strength was fairly higher, in accordance with the lower values of m the gradient of the S-N curves was abrupter. It was considered that if such data were accumulated continuously, in the near future the basic pattern used availably in providing the indicater of the fatigue design of the plate girders, and presuming the life-proof of the existing plate girders.

This paper describes the specifications on balanced steel ratio and maximum reinforcement for the design of RC flexural members by the Korean Highway Bridge Design Code based on limit states design. The Korean Highway Bridge Design Code (Limit States Design) is not provide for the balanced steel ratio specification for the calculation of required steel area of RC flexural members design. The maximum steel area limited the depth of the neutral axis at the ultimate limit states after redistribution of the moment, and also recommended the maximum steel area should not exceed 4 percent of the cross sectional area. However, from the maximum neutral axis depth provisions should increase the cross section is calculated to be less the maximum reinforcement area, and according to the 4% of the cross sectional area of the concrete, the tensile strain of the reinforcement is calculated to be greater than double the yielding strain, so can not guarantee a ductile behavior. This study developed a balanced reinforcement ratio that is basis for the required reinforcement calculation for tension-controlled RC flexural members design in the ultimate limit states verification provisons and material properties and applied the ultimate strain of the concrete compressive strength with a simple formular to be applied to design practice induced. And assumed the minimum allowable tensile strain of reinforcement double the yielding strain, and applying correction coefficient up to the ratio of maximum neutral axis depth, proposed maximum steel ratio that can be applied irrespective of the reinforcement yield strength and concrete compressive strength.
