  • This paper presents a new 3.3-1 V synchronous buck DC/DC converter that employs CMOS operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs) as circuit-building blocks. An error amplifier OTA in a PWM circuit is compensated for to improve temperature stability. The temperature coefficient of the transconductance gain of the compensated OTA is less than $150\;ppm/^{\circ}C\;over\;0-100^{\circ}C$. The HSPICE simulation results of the $0.3{\mu}m$ standard CMOS technology show that the efficiency of the proposed converter is as high as 80% in the load current range of 40-125 mA. These results show that the proposed converter is adequate for use in battery-operated systems.

  • This paper presents development of a 4-inch WVCA OCB (Optical Compensated Bend)-mode display panel. The developed panel has a built-in circuit of the LTPS (low temperature poly-Si)-integrated gate driver circuit with the function of black data insertion. The function of black data insertion makes it possible to realize rapid response time of 4ms and wide viewing angle of $160^{\circ}$. We also applied the RGBW pixel structure for the brighter image with relatively low power consumption. The developed panel showed improved optical efficiency and driving capability of stable image quality for OCB mode. We developed high efficiency OCB-mode panel with built-in integrated gate driver circuit using LTPS on panel without any external driver IC.

  • Recently, according to the rapid development of mobile system, the development of relative mobile components has been required, and especially, with the miniaturization of mobile component, the complex with nearby components has been progressed. In this paper, multi-output VC-TCXO (Voltage Controlled-Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator) for WCDMA integrates the additional CMOS inverter, so it can be the normal clipped sinewave output and additional CMOS output, and also it can be satisfied the VC-TCXO's requirements for WCDMA system. And the important characteristics of reference oscillator, like phase noise and frequency short term stability, are satisfied with WCDMA(UMTS) system's requirement In this paper, however, 25MHz is used for reference frequency, similarly and practically, we think that it can be used from 10MHz to 40MHz.

  • We describe a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO) which compensates the frequency variations for process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) variations with an accuracy of ${\pm}2.6%$ at 2.5 GHz. The DCO includes an 8 phase current-controlled ring oscillator, a digitally controlled current source (DCCS), a process and temperature (PT)-counteracting voltage regulator, and a bias current generator. The DCO operates at a center frequency of 2.5 GHz with a wide tuning range of 2.2 GHz to 3.0 GHz. At 2.8 GHz, the DCO achieves a phase noise of -112 dBc/Hz at 10 MHz offset. When it is implemented in an all-digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL), the ADPLL exhibits an RMS jitter of 8.9 ps and a peak to peak jitter of 77.5 ps. The proposed DCO and ADPLL are fabricated in 65 nm CMOS technology with supply voltages of 2.5 V and 1.0 V, respectively.

  • In order to implement the integrated capacitive pressure sensors, which contains integrated interface circuits to detect the electrical output signal, several main factors that have a bad effect on the characteristics of sensors must be improved, such as parasitic capacitance effects, temperature/thermal drift, and the leakage current of a readout circuitry. This paper describes the novel design of the dedicated CMOS readout circuitry that is consists of two capacitance to frequency converters and 4 bit digital logic compensating circuits. Dividing the oscillation frequency of a sensing sensor by that of reference sensor, this circuit is designed to eliminate the thermal/temperature drift and the effect of the leakage currents, and to access a digital signals to obtain a high signal-to-noise(S/N)ratio. Therefore, the resolution of this circuit can be increased by increasing the number of the digital bits. Digital compensated circuits of this circuits, except for the C-F converters, are fabricated on a FPGA chip, and fundamental performance of the circuits are evaluated.

  • This paper presents a Spread Spectrum Clock Generator (SSCG) based on Relaxation oscillator using Up/Down Counter. The current is controlled by a counter and the spread spectrum of the Relaxation Oscillator. A Relaxation Oscillator with temperature compensation using the BGR and ADC is presented. The current to determine the frequency of the Relaxation Oscillator can be controlled. The output frequency of the temperature can be compensated by adjusting the current according to the temperature using the code that is the output from the ADC and BGR. EMI Reduction of SSCG is 11 dB, and Spread down frequency is 150 kHz. The current consumption is $600{\mu}A$ from 5V and the operating frequency is from 2.3 MHz to 5.75 MHz. The rate of change of the output frequency with temperature was approximately ${\pm}1%$. The SSCG is fabricated in a 0.35um CMOS process with active area $250um{\times}440um$.

  • In this paper, maximum output of three different temperature conditions of the photovoltaic modules have been tested and compared to obtain the optimum conditions for the maximum power operation. Temperatures of the cell and module have been set to $20^{\circ}C$, $25^{\circ}C$ and $30^{circ}C$ under the constant light intensity of 1kW/$m^2$. 125${\times}$125mm 36 single crystal solar cells having 80 [W] each have been serially connected in the module. From the results, maximum output deviation of 4.67% has been obtained under the ceil temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ and module temperature of $30^{\circ}C$ while minimum deviation of 0.41${\sim}$0.92% has been measured under the same temperatures of cell and module. Therefore it has been found that the temperature of both cell and module should be fixed to $25^{\circ}C$ to obtain stable data unless the temperature coefficient should be compensated for the testing sample.

  • Using industrial robots and sensors, we developed an inline car body inspection system which proposes high flexibility and sufficient accuracy. Car Body Inspection(CBI) cell consists of two industrial robots, two corresponding carriages, camera vision system, a process computer with multi-tasking ability and several LDS's. As industrial robots guarantee sufficient repeatabilities, the CBI cell adopts the concept of relative measurement instead of that of absolute measurement. By comparing the actual measured data with reference data, the dimensional errors of the corresponding points can be calculated. The length of the robot arms changes according to ambient temperature and it affects the measuring accuracy. To compensate this error, a robot arm calibration process was realized. By measuring a reference jig, the differential changes of the robot arms due to temperature fluctuation can be calculated and compensated.

  • InGaAsP/InP uncooled LDs emitting at 1.3$\mu$m wavelength are of interest for several application of fiber-to-the-home, optical interconnection, long-haul high-bit-rate optical transmission systems, etc. The strain compensated PBH-MQW-LD employing 1.4% compressive strained well (${\lambda}=1.3{\mu}m$) and 0.7% tensile strained barrier (${\lambda}=1.12{\mu}m$) layers grown by low pressure metallicorganic vapor phase epitaxy was found to be low threshold current and stable temperature characteristics. The average threshold current of 5.6mA and average slope efficiency of 0.27mW/mA at room temperature were obtained for uncoated uncooled-LD.

  • This study investigates drying condition when a small fan is added to a operating the free-breathing proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) with dry $H_2$ and Air. Polarization tests were conducted on PEMFCs at cell temperatures between 30 and $50^{\circ}C$ under dry operation. In the results, the cell performance strongly depended on the cell temperature and the cathode gas stoichiometric flow rates. The cell performance increases as cell temperature decreases from 50 to $30^{\circ}C$. In the domain where the stoichiometry of air is quite large, reduction of the concentration overpotential compensated the increased internal resistance due to drying. The maximum performance was obtained at the small air flow rate beyond which flooding occurs. This indicates that the fan should be operated in the stoichiometry domain with a well designed cell structure to avoid flooding.
