  • The variation of critical current by the formation of crack in a high temperature super-conducting tape was studied by experimental and numerical analyses. The current-voltage relation of HTS tape is measured by the four-point measurement method. Numerical analyses are used to solve two dimensional heat conduction equation, considering the temperature distribution. By comparing current-voltage relation of experimental and numerical results, the validity of numerical method is verified.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of meteorological environment variation before and after construction of Nak-dong river estuary barrage. We used meteorological data(air temperature, precipitation, relative humidity, visibility, wind) at Gimhae airport meteorological station. The construction of river estuary barrage can change climate at the neighboring districts and influence human's health and vegetable. The construction of Nakdong river estuary barrage brought rise of temperature, decrease of relative humidity and increase of poor visibility frequency.

  • An oceanographic measurement by Senjyu and Watanabe (1999) shows that a sudden drop of temperature in the northern Japanese coastal regions occurs with the passing of Typhoon Oliwa, September in 1997. The temperature variation ranges 6 to 7$^{\circ}C$. A three-dimensional primitive model (Princeton Ocean Model) is implemented to examine how it happens. (omitted)

  • Biological Activated Carbon (BAC) process is widely used for the advanced water treatment, but it's mechanisms have not been well understood, especially the relationship between biodegradation and carbon adsorption. Also the phenomenon of bioregeneration has been confused that previously occupied adsorption sites appear to be made available through the actions of microorganisms. Therefore, the objectives of this study examines closely the mechanism of bioregeneration by temperature variation, especially low temperature.

A Variation of Summer Rainfall in Korea (한국의 여름철 강수량 변동 - 순별 강수량을 중심으로 -)

  • Daily rainfall data from 14 stations during 1941 to 2000 were analyzed in order to examine the characteristics of the variation of summer rainfall and the identify relationship between the variation of summer rainfall and the variation of SOI(Southern Oscillation Index) and NPI(North Pacific Index), global temperature. For further investigation, study period is divided into two 30 year intervals, 1941-1970 and 1971-2000. There are the trend of increase in August and decrease in September in the later period compared with the earlier one. It was Mid-west in August where there is the largest variation. It is related to the increase of the frequency of heavy rainfall. The second period of extreme rainfall by ten days is absent, or it change from early in September to late in August. According to the result, the dry spell in August disappears and Changma is continued to early in September. Gradually, there is change from negative (or positive) to positive (or negative) to the rainfall anomaly of the mid of August and the mid of September (or July). The correlation between the variation of rainfall and oceanic variation and global temperature is statistically significant.

  • The spatial distribution of sea water temperature variation pattern in the South-eastern coastal region of Korea was studied by empirical orthogonal function (E. O. F) analysis in several depths from surface to 300m using the monthly mean water temperature averaged for 23 years, water mass analysis by T. S diagram and sectional diagram of water temperature. Typical type of water temperature variation in this area can be divided into surface (0m-50m), subsurface (100m-150m) and intermediate (200m-300m) layer. The first mode value of water temperature change on the surface layer showed $99\%$ of total variation, and decreased with the increase of the depth. It is deduced to be in the range of $60-70\%$ on the 300m layer. The representative type of water temperature fluctuation by the first mode in each layer is as follows. Water temperature change in the surface layer showed a seasonal variation. In the subsurface layer, it is governed by the interaction of the Tsushima Warm Current water with the cold water and by the heat transfer process from the upper layer. In the intermediate layer, water temperature variation seems to be governed by the advection of the bottom cold water.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the thermal conductivity of cement mortar for apartment housing floor using expansive admixture, copper fiber, cower lathe, hollowed aluminum plate. According to test results, temperature at point (a) located above heating pipe does not show significant variation with age, and temperature at (b), which is located at the finishing surface above heating pipe, and temperature at (c), which is located at center surface between heating pipe has remarkable change. Temperature distribution sat (b) are in order for, structure containing copper fiber>plain structure>structure containing hollowed aluminum plate>structure containing expansive admixture. Temperature distribution, shows high tendency in order for, structure containing copper fiber>structure containing copper lathe>structure containing hollowed aluminum plate>plain structure>structure containing expansive admixture. (a) estimation of temperature distribution is determined with the variation of temperature between (b) point and (c) point during 60 minutes heating.

  • This paper presents an embedded RC oscillator which has temperature compensation circuits. The conventional RC oscillator has frequency deviation about 15%, which is caused by variation of resistors and the reference voltage of schmitt trigger from the temperature condition. In this paper, the proposed circuit use a CMOS bandgap reference having balanced current temperature coefficients as a triggering voltage of schmitt trigger. The constant current sources consist of current mirror circuit with the positive and negative temperature coefficient. The proposed circuit shows less 3% frequency deviation for variation of temperature, supply voltage and process parameters.

  • Measuring temperature with ultrasonic wave apparatus is desirable in the case of both below 300$0^{\circ}C$ and ideal gas because of the fact that the temperature of gas is the function of only sound velocity. In this study, being used a heatable wind channel and a blower, the variation of temperature is observed in accordance with diverse flow rate(air velocity). The frequency modulation method is used to measure the temperature which is varying in hot air flow till 10$0^{\circ}C$. The length changed in the position of ultrasonic sensors is considered. Also, the effects of air velocity at the same temperature and various facing angles of ultrasonic sensors are considered. As a result of this study, it has been found that the temperature in gas flow is correctly measured regardless of both the distance of ultrasonic sensors and the variation of air velocity, and that there is just a little influence of facing angles.

  • Long-term temperature monitoring has been performed for ground heat exchanger at the Earthquake Research Center (ERC) building in Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM). For the 3 years of monitoring, overall temperature increases are observed at various depths within a borehole heat exchanger. But monitoring of ground temperature variation at the monitoring well beforehand showed that geothermal utilization is not the only source for the temperature increase, Because various kinds of sources can cause the ground temperature change, more thorough investigation should be followed.
