  • This paper presents a high accuracy and fast hybrid on-chip temperature sensor. The proposed temperature sensor combines a SAR type temperature sensor with a ${\Sigma}{\Delta}$ type temperature sensor. The SAR type temperature sensor has fast temperature searching time but it has more error than the ${\Sigma}{\Delta}$ type temperature sensor. The ${\Sigma}{\Delta}$ type temperature sensor is accurate but it is slower than the SAR type temperature sensor. The proposed temperature sensor uses both the SAR and ${\Sigma}{\Delta}$ type temperature sensors, so that the proposed temperature sensor has high accuracy and fast temperature searching. Also, the proposed temperature sensor includes a temperature error compensating circuit by storing the temperature errors in a memory circuit after chip fabrication. The proposed temperature sensor was fabricated in 3.3V CMOS $0.35{\mu}m$ process. Its temperature resolution, power consumption, and area are $0.15^{\circ}C$, $540{\mu}W$, and $1.2mm^2$, respectively.

  • This study aims to evaluate theoretically heat transfer characteristics and heat flux performance in ondol system of dried type is composed of panel of ceramics to improve of thermal conductivity and fin to expand heat. To this end, we analyzed effect of design factors(temperature of hot water, set temperature of room and thermal conductivity of finishing materials) in ondol system of dried type by heat transfer analysis. The main results of this study are summarized as follows; The deviation of heat flux and temperature was reduced by heat expansion from fin decreasing heat loss generated in air layer. The temperature and heat flux in upper finishing materials surface linearly increased according to temperature increment of hot water, but the temperature distribution in upper surface was assessed uneven. The greater heat resistance value of upper finishing materials, the deviation of maximum temperature and minimum temperature was decreased. Also, we suggested a basic design data about ondol system of dried type through an analysis of simulation results on heat transfer characteristics and heat flux performance.

  • This paper presents the temperature dependence of transmission-type and reflection-type PPG measurement devices that have been developed in the previous research. PPG signal can be distorted by external temperature such as skin temperature so that many of research was focused on the skin temperature effect. However, this paper focuses on the temperature of the device itself and we studied on the effect of device internal temperature. Experimental results showed that the temperature was increased like an irrational function graph and the transmission-type was not affected by the internal temperature but the reflection-type was affected by the internal temperature.

  • Objectives: A women's body type or body temperature is often thought to be associated with gynecologic disorders or dysmenorrhea. The purpose of this study is to analyse the characteristics of body type and body temperature in relation to gynecologic disorders and dysmenorrhea. Methods: We studied 40 patients visiting Kangnam Kyung-hee Medical Center from Jan. 1st, 2010 to March 31st, 2012. Body type and body temperature were compared between Gynecologic disorder group and non-Gynecologic disorder group. Body type and body temperature were compared again between Dysmenorrhea group and non-Dysmenorrhea group. SPSS 18.0 for Windows was used to analyse the data. Results: There was no statistically significance difference in body type and body temperature between Gynecologic disorder group and non-Gynecologic disorder group. Dysmenorrhea group had more developed lower body and greater temperature difference between lower abdomen and foot compared to non-Dysmenorrhea group. Conclusions: The results suggest that women with developed lower body and greater temperature difference between abdomen and lower extremity are more prone to dysmenorrhea.

  • Objectives: The main purpose of this study was to investigate the possible differences in sleepiness, performance, and body temperature during the night between morning(M) and evening(E) type subjects. Methods: After a survey study, to verify the validity and reliability of the Korean translation of the Home' and $\ddot{O}stberg's$ Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire(1976), 8 extreme M-type subjects(3males, 5 females) and 8 extreme E-type subjects(3 males, 5 females) were selected from the university student population who had participated in the survey study. All subjects underwent sleep latency test and a battery of performance tests at intervals of 2 hours through the night, from 23:00 to 07:00. Oral temperature of each subject was taken every hour from 21 : 00 to 8 : 00. Between the testing times, the experimenters ensured that subjects remained awake. Results: More profound sleepiness was found in the M-type compared to the E-type throughout the night, with significant differences in sleepiness occuring at 23:00 and 01:00 hours. Overall performance efficiency tended to be lower through, the night in the M-type than in the E-type on all tests. A difference in time of temperature minimum between the two types was not noteworthy. Rather, there appeared to be a substantial difference in temperature level during the declining phase, with the temperature of the M-type being lower than that of the E-type. Conclusions: These results indicate the existance of a temporal relationship between sleepiness, perfonnance and body temperature during night work. Since the M-type exhibited greater sleepiness and lower performance efficiency overnight than the E-type, it may be assumed that the E-type is more suitable for and tolerable to night work. There was some discussion of the limitations in generalizing these results together with some suggestions for future studies.

  • The present study was conducted for a comparative evaluation of wet and dry floor heating systems using geothermal heat pump. We circulated hot water from geothermal heat pump which is $10{\sim}15^{\circ}C$ lower than that from boiler. In order to access indoor temperature ($25^{\circ}C$) it took 74 minutes for dry type and 247 minutes for wet type. Average floor temperature was $23.9^{\circ}C$ for wet type and $32.7^{\circ}C$ for dry type. Energy saving rate gradually increased by 66% after 138 minutes. As a result, in case of floor heating system using low temperature circulation water, dry type was more practicable for stable floor heating than wet type in terms of floor temperature and access time to indoor set temperature.

  • Effects of high-temperature environment and low-temperature environment on corrosion behaviours of 18Cr stainless steels (type 304L, type 441) in simulated selective catalytic reduction (SCR) environments were studied using weight loss test in each environment and rust analysis. With time to exposure to the high-temperature environment, type 441 was more resistant to corrosion than type 304L due to both higher diffusivity of Cr and lower thermal expansion coefficient in α-iron. The former provides a stable protective Cr2O3 layer. The latter leaded to low residual stress between scale and steel, reducing the spallation of the scale. With time to exposure to the low-temperature environment, on the other hand, type 304L was more resistant to corrosion than type 441. The lower resistance of type 441 was caused by Cr-depleted zone with less than 11% formed during the pre-exposure to a high-temperature environment, unlike type 304L. It was confirmed by results from the crevice corrosion test of sensitised 11Cr steel. Hence, to achieve higher corrosion resistance in simulated SCR environments, ferritic stainless steels having lower thermal expansion coefficient and higher diffusivity of Cr but containing more than 18% Cr are recommended.
