In order to establish informations important to the measurement of lipoxygenase (LOX) activity, providing conditions most favorable for its action and determining factors that inhibit activity, the influence of extraction buffer, substrate, pH, storage, temperature, NaCl, $CaCl_2$, other cations and antioxidants on LOX activity, and localization of LOX in cucumber tissues were carried out. The most favored substrate for LOX was linolenic acid followed by linoleic and arachidonic acids. LOX activity in both peel and mesocarp tissue extracts was maximum at pH 5.5 and relatively stable at $40^{\circ}C\;and\;50^{\circ}C$ temperature. The condition of 0.2 M NaCl with pH 5.0 was observed to provide optimum LOX stability. The enzyme activity was reduced by addition of cations, $Mn^{2+},\;Cu^{2+}\;or\; Al^{3+}$, except $Ca^{2+}$ which stimulated activity of LOX. Butylated hydroxy anisole (BHA) and propyl gallate decreased LOX activity with increasing concentration. Cucumber peel had higher activity than other tissues, locule or mesocarp, of cucumber.

The test equipment becomes more important with the development of semiconductor industry. MEMS probe is an important testing component to detect the defects from the generated electric signal when it contacts the metal pad of semiconductor devices. Ni-Pd alloy has been paid attention to as a candidate of MEMS probe material because of its high surface hardness and relatively low resistivity. In this study, electroplated Ni-Pd alloy has been prepared by using ethylene diamine as a complexing agent. Solid solution alloy coating could be formed when concentration of palladium chloride and current density were in the ranges of 1~5 mM and $0.2{\sim}1.5A/dm^2$, respectively. The increase of current density brought about an decrease in palladium content, which made both of lattice parameter and grain size smaller. As a result of grain refinement, high hardness could be obtained. However, surface cracking was observed due to residual stress when the current density was above $1.3A/dm^2$. When effects of heat treatment temperature on hardness and sheet resistance were investigated, the accompanied grain growth decreased both of them. The decrease of hardness remained stable at a temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. The sheet resistance was drastically reduced at $100^{\circ}C$. After that, it was found to become constant.
Lithium secondary battery with gel polymer electrolyte, which was composed of POAGA and TEGDMA, was prepared and its cell performances were evaluated. Collation time decreased with increasing the contents of the monomer in the POAGA-based gel polymer electrolyte. The polymer electrolyte was stable up to 4.5V electro-chemically and its ionic conductivity was $5.2\times10^{-3}Scm^{-1}$ at room temperature. The lithium-ion polymer battery with $3.0wt\%$ curable monomer and $1.0wt\%$ monomer showed rate-capability, low-temperature performance and cycleability.

Fly ash has the advantages, among others, of improving the characteristics of concrete, reducing the price of concrete products, improving the durability, and reducing hydration heat. However, when added in mass, it leads to problems such as insufficient concrete intensity, increase of AE use, and others, resulting in a limitation of the use volume. Therefore, this study is undertaken to solve the problems associated with themass use of fly ash through the high concentration powder ($4000{\sim}8000cm^2/g$) of fly ash, curing method, the addition of an alkali stimulation agent and others for the purpose of increasing the added value of the fly ash. The research showed that the intensity manifestation has an outstanding status, with the hydrates reaching a very stable condition if the rate of addition of a stimulation agent is appropriately used with the heightening of the fineness of the fly ash in the temperature range of $40^{\circ}C$, and if the applicable study is continued, it is likely to result ineffective value generation on the massive replacement of fly ash.
We have fabricated $SiO_2$ oxidation thin films by TCP-CVD (transformer coupled plasma chemical vapor deposition) method for passivation layer of OLED (organic light emitting diode). The purpose of this paper is to control and estimate the deposition rate and refracive index characteristics with process parameters. They are power, gas condition, distance of source and substrate and process temperature. The results show that transmittance of thin films is over 90%, rapid deposition rate and stable reflective index from 1.4 to 1.5 at controled process conditions. They are $SiH_4$ : $O_2$ = 30 : 60 [sccm] gas condition, 70 [mm] distance of source and substrate, no-biased substrate and under 80 [$^{\circ}C$] process temperature.

Hydrogen as new energy sources is highly efficient and have very low environmental emissions. The proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is an emerging technology that can meet these demands. Therefore, the preparation of stable polymeric membranes with good proton conductivity and durability are very important for hydrogen production via water electrolysis with PEM at medium temperature above $80^{\circ}C$. Currently Nafion of Dupont and Aciflex of Asahi, etc., solid polymer electrolytes of perfluorosulfonic acid membrane, are the best performing commercially available polymer electrolytes. However, these membrane have several flaws including its high cost, and its limited operational temperature above $80^{\circ}C$. Because of this, significant research efforts have been devoted to the development of newer and cheaper membranes. In order to make up for the weak points and to improve the mechanical characteristics with cross -linking, acid-base complexes were prepared by the combination PSf-co-PPSS-$NH_2$ with PEEK-$SO_3H$. The results showed that the proton conductivity decreased in 17.6% and 40% but tensile strength increased in 78% and 98%, about $20.65\;{\times}\;10^6N/m^2$, in comparison with SBPSf/HPA and SPEEK/HPA complex membrane.

Self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) were grown by the atomic layer epitaxy (ALE) and molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) techniques, The structure and the thermal stability of QDs have been studied by high resolution electron microscopy with in-situ heating experiment capability, The ALE and MBE QDs were found to form a hemispherical structure with side facets in the early stage of growth, Upon capping by GaAs layer, however, the apex of QDs changed to a flat one. The ALE QDs have larger size and more regular shape than those of MBE QDs. The QDs collapse due to elevated temperature was observed directly in atomic scale, In situ heating experiment within TEM revealed that the uncapped QDs remained stable up to $580^{\circ}C$, However, at temperature above $600^{\circ}C$, the QDs collapsed due to the diffusion and evaporation of In and As from the QDs, The density of the QDs decreased abruptly by this collapse and most of them disappeared at above $600^{\circ}C$.

A gene encoding a putative glycogen-debranching enzyme in Sulfolobus shibatae(abbreviated as SSGDE) was cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The recombinant enzyme was purified to homogeneity by heat treatment and Ni-NTA affinity chromatography. The recombinant SSGDE was extremely thermostable, with an optimal temperature at $85^{\circ}C$. The enzyme had an optimum pH of 5.5 and was highly stable from pH 4.5 to 6.5. The substrate specificity of SSGDE suggested that it possesses characteristics of both amylo-1,6-glucosidase and $\alpha$-1,4-glucanotransferase. SSGDE clearly hydrolyzed pullulan to maltotriose, and $6-O-\alpha-maltosyl-\beta-cyclodextrin(G2-\beta-CD)$ to maltose and $\beta$-cyclodextrin. At the same time, SSGDE transferred maltooligosyl residues to the maltooligosaccharides employed, and maltosyl residues to $G2-\beta-CD$. The enzyme preferentially hydrolyzed amylopectin, followed in a decreasing order by glycogen, pullulan, and amylose. Therefore, the present results suggest that the glycogen-debranching enzyme from S. shibatae may have industrial application for the efficient debranching and modification of starch to dextrins at a high temperature.

Degradation due to delamination occurs frequently in the high temperature superconductors (HTS) coil of rotating machines made with 2nd generation (2G) HTS wire, and the authors have observed other similar cases. Since an HTS field coil for a rotating machine is required to have stable current control and maintain a steady state, co-winding techniques for insulation material and epoxy resin for shape retention and heat transfer improvement are applied during coil fabrication. However, the most important limiting factor of this technique is delamination, which is known to be caused by the difference in thermal expansion between the epoxy resin and 2G HTS wire. Therefore, in this study, the experimental results of mixing the ratio of epoxy resin and alumina ($Al_2O3$) filler were applied to the fabrication of small and large test coils to solve the problem of degradation. For the verification of this scheme, eight prototypes of single pancake coils with different shapes were fabricated. They showed good results. The energization and operation maintenance tests of the stacked coils were carried out under liquid neon conditions similar to the operation temperature of an MW-class rotating machine. In conclusion, it was confirmed that the alumina powder mixed with epoxy resin in an appropriate ratio is an effective solution of de-lamination problem of 2G HTS coil.

In solar photovoltaic systems, power generation is greatly affected by the weather conditions, so it is essential to predict solar energy for stable load operation. Therefore, data on weather conditions are needed as inputs to machine learning algorithms for solar energy prediction. In this paper, we use 15 kinds of weather data such as the precipitation accumulated during the 3 hours of the surface, upward and downward longwave radiation average, upward and downward shortwave radiation average, the temperature during the past 3 hours at 2 m above from the ground and temperature from the ground surface as input data to the algorithm. We analyzed the statistical characteristics and correlations of weather data and extracted the downward and upward shortwave radiation averages as a major elements of a feature vector with high correlation of 70% or more with solar energy.
