  • This paper was concerned with pool fire about many used kerosene and diesel oil. In order to know the thermal effects of kerosene and diesel oil, temperature change in the pool fire of these fuels were obtained as a variation of combustion time and the tank's height and diameter by using the data acquisition system, And fuel combustion velocity were derived as a function of the diameter and wall thickness of tanks and combustion time. As a result, when the tank's height was 15㎝, the greater diameter the higher temperature rising regardless of tank's wall thickness and fuels. But, when the tank's height is 30㎝, temperature rising was not higher than 15㎝. Also, temperature rising in the pool fire of kerosene much higher than diesel oil. Kerosene's combustion velocity was about two times faster than diesel oil. And, kerosene's combustion velocity was increased according to the increasing of tank's diameter and combustion time. But, diesel oil's combustion velocity was a little increased or not. Surrounding temperature change of tank with the pool fire was obtained temperature distribution of 0∼35℃ according to the change of tank's diameter and distance from the tank's wall.

  • Photosynthesis and respiration of seagrasses are mainly controlled by water temperature. In this study, the photosynthetic physiology and respiratory changes of the Asian surfgrass Phyllospadix japonicus, which is mainly distributed on the eastern and southern coasts of Korea, were investigated in response to changing water temperature (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, and 30℃) by conducting mesocosm experiments. Photosynthetic parameters (maximum photosynthetic rate, Pmax; compensation irradiance, Ic; and saturation irradiance, Ik) and respiration rate of surfgrass increased with rising water temperature, whereas photosynthetic efficiency (α) was fairly constant among the water temperature conditions. The Pmax and Ik dramatically decreased under the highest water temperature condition (30℃), whereas the Ic and respiration rate increased continuously with the increasing water temperature. Ratios of maximum photosynthetic rates to respiration rates (Pmax : R) were highest at 5℃ and declined markedly at higher temperatures with the lowest ratio at 30℃. The minimum requirement of Hsat (the daily period of irradiance-saturated photosynthesis) of P. japonicus was 2.5 hours at 5℃ and 10.6 hours at 30℃ for the positive carbon balance. Because longer Hsat was required for the positive carbon balance of P. japonicus under the increased water temperature, the rising water temperature should have negatively affected the growth, distribution, and survival of P. japonicus on the coast of Korea. Since the temperature in the temperate coastal waters is rising gradually due to global warming, the results of this study could provide insights into surfgrass responses to future severe sea warming and light attenuation.

  • The aim of the research is analyzing the simple adiabatic temperature rising properties and the heat of hydration based on different placing timing of the mass concrete depending on various replacing ratios of blast furnace slag to comparative analyze the thermal cracking index and cracking possibility. As a result from the experiment, a suggested adiabatic temperature rising equation based on various blast furnace slag replacing ratios can be provide favorable correlation with over 0.99 of $R^2$ value by applying the initial induction period. With this relationship, more accurate prediction of the amount of the hydration heat rising and heating timing, and it is known that there is an approximately $13.1^{\circ}C$ of gap between plain concrete without blast furnace slag and concrete with 80 % of replacing blast furnace slag. To control the setting time and heat rising gap, the mix designs between top and bottom concrete casts were changed 15 cases, and D, E, H, I, and L models of controlling the heat of hydration showed 41.23 to $46.88^{\circ}C$ of core temperature and 0.98 to 1.27 of thermal cracking index. Therefore the cracking possibility was 15 to 52 % of favorable results of possibly controlling both the cracking due to the internal and external retainment and concrete temperature at early age.

  • In this paper, film thickness and temperature distribution are measured in EHL point contact at high slip ratios. Infrared temperature mapping with two band pass fillers. proposed by Ausherman (1976). is used to measure temperature distribution. And the optical interferornetric method with two filters (red and green filters) is used to measure film thickness. Result of experiment showed that temperature rising at film and ball surface occurred very dramatically in Dimple zone. As slip velocity, slip ratio and load increased, size of Dimple and temperature rising became more large In addition, Position and shape of Dimple we changed by slip ratios, and increasing of Dimple size decreased traction coefficient. In short, it is appointed that the Dimple phenomenon be developed by the effect of viscosity wedge.

  • This work deals with the optimal design of a coreless PMLSM (Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor) with consideration of rising winding temperature. The temperature distribution caused by copper loss in the coreless PMLSM was analyzed using a FEM (Finite Element Method). The thrust and current density where the winding temperature reaches the allowable temperature were calculated. The optimal model provides maximum thrust per unit weight.

  • Now the world will regulate the CO2 emission due to environmental issues. For an alternative plan photovoltaic system is watched. So, photovoltaic system is trend of big city and it is mandatory for renovation of construction. Oil & gas filling station existed in city is suitable to found the photovoltaic system. But the general photovoltaic system in oil & gas filling station is difficult to found because it is classified into hazardous area. This paper evaluates intrinsic safety evaluation of solar cell for making basic data to found for the photovoltaic system on hazardous area. The intrinsic safety characteristic is evaluated by short-circuit ignition test using IEC type spark ignition test apparatus and temperature rising test. The result of short-circuit ignition test, propane-air mixture gas is exploded on condition that 4 solar cells(9[V], 90[mA]) are connected serially under insolation 800[W/$m^2$]. So, if a larger solar module will be used at oil & gas filling station than we were tested, it needs explosion proof. As the result of rising temperature test, the temperature rising due to short circuit is not so much, but when the temperature rises due to radiant heat, it demands careful consideration for environmental influence.

  • Recently, gypsum boards are widely used as interior finishing boards for constructions because of their features of absorbing heats and little temperature rising at the early stage of fire. Therefore, in this research, basic data were suggested to secure fireproof stability by investigating interior processing features, which change together with the backside temperature of test materials from Flash Over (within 30 minutes after firing), at which temperature reaches its highest point, to survey the features of materials due to rising temperature in the chase of gypsum boards (general and fireproof gypsum boards)

  • Plasma Arc Curing(PAC) units operate at relatively high intensity and claimed to result in optimum properties of composite resin in a short curing time, so the interest of pediatric dentists about PAC units have been increased recently. But PAC units used for polymerizing restorative resins produce heat during operation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate temperature transmission through dentin of various depths using two types of PAC units(Flipo, Q-Lux plasma 100). The results from the present study can be summarized as follows : 1. When PAC be used continuously, temperature on tip was increased as curing times, and Q-Lux showed greater temperature rising(p<0.001). 2. Compared temperature transmission as dentin depth, temperature rising rate was decreased as dentin thickened(0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0mm)(p<0.05). 3. Compared temperature transmission as resin depth, temperature rising rate was also decreased as resin thickened(1.0, 2.0mm)(p<0.05).
