  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of self-directed practice of core nursing skills using an immersive virtual reality (VR) program based on a head-mounted display (HMD) on nursing students' Learning flow, practice satisfaction, and self-efficacy. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. Among 42 second-year nursing students at a university in City B, 21 students in the experimental group participated in self-directed practice using the HMD-based VR program, while 21 students in the control group engaged in traditional self-directed practice using models. Data were collected through self-reported questionnaires and analyzed using Chi-square tests and independent t-tests. The results showed that practice satisfaction in the experimental group increased by 0.41 points, while it decreased by 0.11 points in the control group, demonstrating a significantly higher satisfaction in the experimental group compared to the control group (t=2.18, p=.035). However, no significant differences were found in class engagement and self-efficacy between the two groups. Therefore, self-directed practice using the HMD-based VR program could be considered a viable alternative to traditional practice using models. This study aims to provide foundational data for the future development of virtual reality programs for nursing practice education.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the market potential of 'Hwanggeumsantari', a new oyster mushroom variety developed in Gyeonggi Province in 2019, and to derive effective market entry strategies. To objectively assess the marketability of 'Hwanggeumsantari' from various perspectives, a panel of 50 consumers was formed, and surveys and interviews were conducted. Additionally, two Focus Group Interviews were held with distributors in the agri-food sector. The results showed that potential consumers were positive about the color and texture of 'Hwanggeumsantari', but expressed relatively less satisfaction with its shelf life and aroma. Distributors, through tow Focus Group Interviews, evaluated that the product had sufficient market competitiveness, but called for efforts to improve cultivation techniques and enhance price competitiveness. Based on the results of market evaluations by consumers and distributors, a SWOT analysis was conducted. The main strengths identified were its outstanding color and texture, while the main weakness was its freshness issue. Meanwhile, the growing demand for healthy foods and various online sales channels could provide market entry opportunities for 'Hwanggeumsantari', but high sensitivity to price in the case of premium pricing could pose a threat. Consequently, a market entry strategy for 'Hwanggeumsantari' was proposed using a 4P mix approach based on the SWOT analysis results. The product strategy emphasized premium positioning, small packaging, and the development of packaging technology to maintain freshness. The price strategy proposed premium pricing and the operation of incentive programs. The distribution strategy suggested channel diversification, direct stores, or direct sales, while the promotion strategy emphasized storytelling and collaboration with influencers.

  • Technological innovation is a key driver of firm survival and prosperity in a competitive market. Though most economists consider the determinants of technological innovation as firm-level activities, concentrations of innovative performance within particular regions have been observed almost everywhere. We examine if performance of technological innovation for photonics industry in Korea will be affected by different regions as well as firm specific factors. By applying Heckman's selection model, we found that specific regions such as Gwangju and Honam region have significant effects on the probability of obtaining patents, but there is no significant evidence that the location on specific regions increases the number of patents. On the contrary, firms with main plants in the SMA have not only significantly lower chances of obtaining patents but also produce significantly fewer patents than do firms in other regions. The analysis also found that the R&D spending-capital ratio, total employment-capital ratio of firms, and firm location in metropolitan cities are all positively related to the number of patents. As a policy implication, more active cooperation between the R&D cluster and the surrounding firms will be required to enhance the technology diffusion effects from the R&D cluster to innovative activity of the firms. This paper contributes relevant literature by showing empirically that regional location is an important determinant of technological innovation for photonics firms.

  • This study was conducted to confirm the potential of adhesive resins formulated with rapeseed flour (RSF), which is a residue in the production of edible oil, for the manufacture of medium-density fiberboards (MDF). The RSF-based adhesive resins were formulated with the weight ratio of RSF hydrolyzates (80, 70, 60 wt%) to PF prepolymer(20, 30, 40 wt%), MDF was fabricated in accordance with its resin content and target density using the RSF-based adhesive resin, and then the physical properties(density, moisture content, bending strength, internal bonding strength and thickness swelling) and formaldehyde emission of the MDF were measured. The effect of the weight ratio of RSF hydrolyzate to PF prepolymer was the greatest, followed by that of target density and resin content. The values of MDF fabricated with RSF-based adhesive resins exceeded those with urea-formaldehyde resins, which is mostly used as a resin in the manufacture of MDF. Based on the results of MDF per experimental factors, the optimal conditions were determined to target density of 0.7 g/cm3, resin content of 5% and PF-prepolymer weight ratio of 40 wt% in RSF-based adhesive resin, and physical properties and formaldehyde emission of the MDF fabricated with the conditions satisfied the requirements for MDF and E0 grade, which was designated by National Institute of Forest Science, except for thickness swelling. In conclusion, the potential of RSF-based adhesive for the production of MDF could identify on the basis of the results of this study. However, the stable securement of RSF through the development of bio-refinery process for rape plant is required to commercialize RSF-based adhesive resins for MDF production.

  • The Purpose of this paper is to explore the meaning of Quandao(權道) in Cheng Yichuan(程伊川)'s thought. Especially, through these discussions, we will look at how Confucian philosophy explains the changes of the times and the logic of adaptation to them. As we know, the concepts of Jing(經) and Quan(權) are important subjects from the philosophy of Confucius and Mencius. In general, the former means principle and the latter means flexibility. Cheng Yichuan did a very systematic and logical analysis of these concepts in his philosophy. I have divided the meaning of 'Quan' into three parts as follows. First, the concept refers to the ability to judge which is right in the context of a moral dilemma. Second, the concept means the ability to make the right choices at the right time. This ability includes to select traditional heritage and to choose to move forward and back in a political situation in which an individual is present. Third, the concept of 'Quan' refers to the flexibility and creativity of the Sage who adapt and respond to the transition of the civilization paradigm and the development of technology. Through the third dimension, we can not only see a new aspect of Cheng's concept of 'Quandao' but also understand Confucian scholar's strategy for adapting to the times.

  • Most of the phantoms currently in use are composed of acrylic and bone, which have technical limitations in perfectly reproducing the complex density and shape of human tissue. This study addresses the limitations of existing phantoms by using anonymized DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) data to create 3D printing phantoms with filaments mimicking soft tissue, skin, fat, and bone. We then measured and compared the CT numbers of the produced 3D-printed phantom, the conventional acrylic phantom, and the anonymized DICOM file. The CT number measurement results for the acrylic knee phantom showed bone at 1586.64±269.78 HU and acrylic at 45.5±22.79 HU. For the 3D-printed phantom, the measurements were skin 53.2±11.5 HU, fat -116.5±5.3 HU, soft tissue 62.9±3.7 HU, and bone 892.6±38.3 HU. The measurements from the anonymized DICOM file revealed skin at 52.5±17.7 HU, fat -115.7±2.8 HU, soft tissue 65.2±0.7 HU, and bone 929.3±103.3 HU. This study demonstrates that the CT numbers of the 3D-printed phantom are similar to those of actual human tissue, indicating its potential for educational and clinical use. Furthermore, this study suggested that 3D printing is a practical alternative for medical phantom production and it is anticipated that further research will contribute to advancements in medical technology.

  • In this paper, AI models for predicting peak power usage were developed and comparatively analyzed using data collected from the Jeju Samdasoo factory through a big data collection system based on IoT sensing technology. The LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) model demonstrated the highest prediction accuracy for univariate time-series data, achieving an R2 of 0.98, RMSE of 0.039, and MAE of 0.026. Meanwhile, the XGBoost (eXtreme Gradient Boosting) model effectively handled multivariate data, achieving an R2 of 0.93, RMSE of 0.018, and MAE of 0.013. Various data preprocessing methods and feature combinations were experimentally applied to optimize model performance, highlighting the significant impact of preprocessing and variable selection on prediction accuracy. The findings suggest that optimized AI models for peak power prediction can reduce power costs and achieve approximately 10-15% reductions in carbon emissions. This study offers companies pursuing ESG (environmental, social, and governance) management practical and specific strategies for achieving sustainability, while demonstrating the applicability of the predictive model across various industries, including manufacturing, logistics, and smart factories.
