  • As the propellant mass is being accelerated out of the gun chamber along with the projectile, a continuous pressure gradient exists between the end of chamber and the base of the projectile. For this reason, the base pressure-travel curve is very important to design a conventional gun barrel in the interior ballistics, but it is not obtained briefly by empirical or theoretical method. In this paper, a simple relation between chamber pressure and base pressure was determined by the factor of base pressure(Cb) obtained from the experimental method. The simple relation gives a reasonable prediction for the reduction of pressure between the breech and the base of projectile owing to the axial gradient in the gun tube. The predictions have been validated by the infrared screen sensor and the PRODAS(PROjectile Design and Analysis System) for interior ballistic systems. Therefore, the base pressure-travel curve could be calculated from the chamber pressure measured by piezoelectric sensor. The base pressure-travel curve obtained from the simple relation offers initial information to gun barrel designer and is used for calculation of muzzle velocity.

  • Through a series of precise text handling processes, including automatic extraction of information from documents with knowledge from various fields, recognition of entity names, detection of core topics, analysis of the relations between the extracted information and topics, and automatic inference of new knowledge, the most efficient knowledge base of the relevant field is created, and plans to apply these to the information knowledge management and service are the core requirements necessary for intellectualization of information. In this paper, the knowledge base, which is a necessary core resource and comprehensive technology for intellectualization of science and technology information, is described and the usability of academic information services using it is evaluated. The knowledge base proposed in this article is an amalgamation of information expression and knowledge storage, composed of identifying code systems from terms to documents, by integrating terminologies, word intelligent networks, topic networks, classification systems, and authority data.

  • Unusual data patterns or outliers can be generated because of human errors, incorrect measurements, or malicious activities. Detecting outliers is a difficult task that requires complex ensembles. An ideal outlier detection ensemble should consider the strengths of individual base detectors while carefully combining their outputs to create a strong overall ensemble and achieve unbiased accuracy with minimal variance. Selecting and combining the outputs of dissimilar base learners is a challenging task. This paper proposes a model that utilizes heterogeneous base learners. It adaptively boosts the outcomes of preceding learners in the first phase by assigning weights and identifying high-performing learners based on their local domains, and then carefully fuses their outcomes in the second phase to improve overall accuracy. Experimental results from 10 benchmark datasets are used to train and test the proposed model. To investigate its accuracy in terms of separating outliers from inliers, the proposed model is tested and evaluated using accuracy metrics. The analyzed data are presented as crosstabs and percentages, followed by a descriptive method for synthesis and interpretation.

  • How to determine the right number of small base stations to activate in multi-cell uplinks to match traffic from a fixed quantity of K users is an open question. This paper analyses the uplink cooperative that jointly receives base stations activation to explore this question. This paper is different from existing works only consider transmitting power as optimization objective function. The global objective function is formulated as a summation of two terms: transmitting power for data and coordinated overhead for control. Then, the joint base stations activation and beamforming problem is formulated as a mixed integer second order cone optimization. To solve this problem, we develop two polynomial-time distributed methods. Method one is a two-stage solution which activates no more than K small base stations (SBSs). Method two is a heuristic algorithm by dual decomposition to MI-SOCP that activates more SBSs to obtain multiple-antennae diversity gains. Thanks to the parallel computation for each node, our methods are more computationally efficient. The strengths and weaknesses of these two proposed two algorithms are also compared using numerical results.

  • Attempts were made to fix acetaldehyde on base materials, which were selected from carbohydrates, by freeze drying. More acetaldehyde was fixed, in general, on combined base materials than single base materials, and mannitol+lactose were the best among the combined base materials tested. But the combination of mannitol and maltodextrin appeared to be more economical for the mass production. Loss of acetaldehyde during freeze drying was decreased as the concentration of the combined base material was increased, and it reached minimum at 40% of the base material. As dryer chamber pressure was reduced, loss of acetaldehyde during drying was decreased.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of denture cleansers on the flexural bond strength of heat curing denture base resin and reliners. Methods: The denture base resin was bonded to the reliners(vertex self curing, kooliner, rebase II) to make the specimen. The specimens were immersed in denture cleansers(Polident, Cleadent) and evaluated after 1week, 3week, 5weeks. After denture reliners were injected, flexural bond strength was measured. Results: The bond strength of denture base resin and vertex self curing resin as reliner was significantly decreased at 5 weeks in cleadent and polident(p<0.05). The bond strength of kooliner and rebase II was significantly decreased at 5 weeks in denture cleaners(p<0.05). Kooliner was significantly decreased at 3 and 5 weeks in polident and rebase II was significantly decreased at 3 and 5 weeks in all denture cleansers(p<0.05). Conclusion : The flexural strength between the denture base resin and the reliners decreased significantly as the treatment time increased.

  • The aim of the study was to investigate the diameter and base curve changes of soft contact lens by protein deposition. Soft contact lenses were soaked in artificial tear or protein solution which had the same composition with tear for 2min, 10min, 30min, 1hr, 3hr, 6hr, 12hr, and 24hr. Diameter and base curve changes of soft contact lenses were examined by using the high speed camera(Fastcam ultima 1024). The longer the soaking time of soft contact lenses in the artificial tear, the diameter and base curve changes of soft contact lenses was more increased. In the case of soft contact lenses adsorbed only protein, the similar pattern was shown and the diameter and base curve were decreased. However, the influence of calcium ion was found to be less than that of protein. These results suggest that the tear protein causes the diameter and base curve decrease of soft contact lens, which might be related to the discomfort after soft contact lens wearing.

  • In this work, process optimization techniques for high frequency performance of HBTs are presented. The techniques are focused on reducing parasitic base resistance and base-collector capacitance, which are key elements determining the high frequency characteristics of HBTs. Several fabrication techniques, which can significantly reduce the parasitic elements of the HBTs for improved high frequency performance, are proposed and verified by the measured data of the fabricated devices.
