과학기술의 발전으로 세계 각국의 경쟁은 지상을 넘어 우주로 나아가고 있다. 현재 미국을 비롯한 세계 우주기술 선진국들은 달 및 행성탐사 우주선 개발과 같은 유인 우주기술 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다. 따라서 미국, 러시아, 유럽연합(독일, 프랑스 등 11개국), 캐나다, 일본을 중심으로 운영되고 있는 우주정거장은 유인 우주행성탐사 시 생명체 유지에 필요한 시스템 개발과 검증을 위한 기초/응용과학 실험실로 활용되고 있다. 특히 우주환경에서 화재의 발생과 감지/소화의 메카니즘을 이해하고자 다양한 연소실험이 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 가장 기본적인 우주환경인 미세중력환경에서의 화염의 점화 및 형상특성을 고찰해보고 우주환경 화재안전에 관한 일반적인 내용을 기술하였다.

This paper is about an recent overview of the fire regulations of several countries as for the use of XPS related insulation in building application. The data compiled in this paper is based both on in-house expertise at SP Fire Technology, in particular in relation to European Building legislation, and on replies to a questionnaire distributed to a selected group of colleagues internationally, and subsequent discussions with these colleagues.

The tendency of multimedia services and market of specialized information is currently much debated issur in our country. Nevertheless, the systematic investigation of demand for multimedea database is nowadays nowhere to be found. The purpose of this study is to gain a general overview of market and demand of service relating to multimedea database. At first, various definitions of multimedia, multimedia content, and multimedia database are analysed and evaluated from the point of technical and practical views. For the study on the demand for multimedia database of specialized information, database catalogue of DPCK 1997 and multimedia database on internet are analysed. After that the results of expert survey to estimate an accurate tendency of multimedia services in Korea are analysed.

The use of telematics, or of data communications, for the information services is a much debated issue currently in the information science. The purpose' of this study is to gain a general overview of the use of data communications in specialized information centers in order to find out the direction of development in furture. In this study, the state of the specialized information services by data communications in Korea was analysed from the following points of view: (1) What kind of role play the liberalization of telecommunication to help develope the specialized information services? (2) Which problems have happend to the specialized information services using data communications? (3) How are technical, economical, and methodical problems handled for the new services? The background research stems from interview with managers and researchers in 5 specialized information centers.

3GPP (Third Generation Partnership Project) is defining UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunication System) releases which span the transition from GSM/UMTS coexistence to All-IP UMTS networks. The deployment of an UMTS network depends, in the first place, on the intended service offerings and the release an operator chooses to start service with. Other key decisions in-fluencing UMTS deployment relate to the timing of the functional enhancements and capacity increases along the economic life of the network. This paper gives an overview on the architectural and technical options for UMTS deployment. It also outlines the methodology underlying the business plan aimed at estimating the returns from investments in the UMTS infrastructure, thus helping to tune operators’ strategies for UMTS deployment.

Over the years of decades, the memory technology has progressed a long, marble way. As we have evidenced from the Intel's 1Kb DRAM in 1970 to the Gigabit era of 2000's, the road further ahead towards the Terabit era will be unfolded. The technology once perceived inconceivable is in realization today, and similarly roadblocks as we know of today mayvecome trivial issues for tomorrow. For the inquiring mind, the question is how the "puzzle"of tomorrow's memory technology is pieced-in today. The process will take place both in evolutionary and revolutionary ways. Among these, note-worthy are the changes in DRAM architecture and the cell process technology. In this paper, some technical approaches will be discussed to bring these aspects into a general overview and a per-spective with possibilities for the new memory technology will be presented.presented.

This study reviews an overview of the current tax support system in Local Tax Law for venture company. And this study provides the directions for developing tax support system in Local Tax Law related policy for the venture company in Korea. The tax authority provides a supporting directions of venture company in three ways: a financing viewpoint, a technical and manpower viewpoint, and the location viewpoint. And the supporting system for venture company is devide into tax support system through tax laws and support system through other law. The requirements of receiving tax supporting for venture company in Local Tax Law are a venture company, a small and medium company, a newly starting firm, and so forth. To mitigate the restriction imposed by the current tax law on venture company encourage venture activities in Korea.

This paper proposes a model for assessing enterprise network maturity. We define maturity in terms of the institutional and member support for the network(organizational maturity) and its technical sophistication(technological maturity), and examine their relationships. We build several hypotheses about the relationships between the maturity types and between the maturity of the network and various organizational factors including industry, size, and performance of the enterprise. We test the hypotheses using data collected from a questionnaire survey with Korean firms. The results show that there is a positive correlation between organizational and technological maturity. It is also found that investment in the network infrastructure has a positive influence on the organizational efficiency. However, it is found that industry type does not affect network utilization, but size does, suggesting that large firms utilize network infrastructure more than small ones do. We also identify various relationships among performance, satisfaction level and the maturity of the enterprise networks. Finally, we provide an overview on the current technological state of the Korean enterprise networks.

Tritium and $^{14}C$ are two most important radionuclides released from nuclear facilities to the environment, and $^{14}C$ contributes dominant radiation dose to the population around nuclear power plants. This paper presents an overview of the production, pathway, species and levels of tritium and $^{14}C$ in nuclear facilities, mainly nuclear power plants. The methods for sampling and collection of different species of tritium and $^{14}C$ in the discharge gas from the stack in the nuclear facilities, atmosphere of the nuclear facilities and environment are presented, and the features of different methods are reviewed. The on-line monitoring methods of gaseous tritium and $^{14}C$ in air and laboratory measurement methods for sensitive determination of tritium and $^{14}C$ in collected samples, water and environmental solid samples are also discussed in detailed. Meanwhile, the challenges in the determination and speciation analysis of tritium and $^{14}C$ are also highlighted.

The CDMA Mobile System (CMS) has been developed by Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) and field-tested for commercial service deployment in Korea. The project was started in 1989 and completed in 1995 with the CMS commercial test. During the course of development, there had been active technical cooperation with Qualcomm, Inc. and Korean manufacturers. The CMS adopted the basic CDMA concepts conforming to Korean CDMA system which was derived form IS-95. The CMS functions are allocated to subsystems by considering efficiency and expandability. The CMS consists of mobile stations and the infrastructure which is composed of base stations, mobile exchanges and home location register/authentication center. The commercial field tests performed both in Taejon and Seoul have indicated that the CMS capacity is 10 to 15 times larger than that of AMPS. This paper overviews the development history, system characteristics, architecture and test results.
