  • The specific objectives of the study were (1) to determine the preferences for three home economics curriculum designs(HECD) categorized by Majorie Brown(Technical HECD, Self Actualization HECD, and Practical Reasoning HECD), (2) to determine the differences between middle school HE teachers and high school HE teachers on each curriculum element, and (3) to determine the relationships between preferences for three HECD by curriculum elements and personal and professional characteristics of HE teachers. For these objectives, the subjects were randomly selected from HE teachers of secondary schools in the areas of Seoul, In-Cho, and Keungi. The 300 data collected by mailed survey were analyzed into frequency, percentage, Chi-square, and contingency coefficient using SAS program. The major findings were as follows: 1) the majority of HE teacher respeondents preferred the Practical Reasoning HECD about the following curriculum elements: Purpose of HE education, knowledge, subject matter, teaching method, society and culture, learner, learning atmosphere, and HE teacher's role. 2) No significant difference emerged when Chi-square was applied to determine difference between the two groups(middle and high school HE teachers) on three HECD according to each curriculum element. 3) The contingency coefficient between preferences of HE education purpose for three curriculum designs and age was 21, years of teaching was 23, between preferences of learning atmosphere of three curriculum designs and location of school was. 17. These mean that the younger and more beginning teachers perferred HE purpose of the Practical Reasoning HECD, and HE teachers working in urban area more preferred learning atmosphere of Practical Reasoning HECD.

  • Recently, as smart devices are distributed more and more, the need for education of developing contents based on smart media increases. In order to develop contents based on smart media, it is necessary to learn new programming language as well as to understand the structure of platforms as device-manufacturers and communication companies have different platforms. Generally, the problem in education of programming is that it can provide learning to understand the language stage by stage, but it is difficult to suggest a clear result such as completion of learner's project from macroscopic and integrated approach. Especially, there is a difficult of learning several programming languages due to the characteristics of platforms in developing smart contents. Accordingly, in the education of programming for developing smart contents, it is not appropriate to use the traditional teaching method of programming which conducts projects from an integrated point of view after learning the grammatical elements of the language. This paper aims to suggest the top-down teaching method as an effective teaching method for developing contents based on smart media, and to analyze the effect after developing and applying the suggested teaching model.

  • The aim of this study is to analyze critically the meaning of 'good instruction'. In this article, the researchers emphasized the activities of teaching and learning as two essential elements of good instruction. The antecedent studies on good instruction have limitations in that they regarded good instruction as an instrument rather than valuable activity itself. This study consisted of three parts. Firstly, the researchers tried to clarify the meaning of good instruction underlying antecedent studies on instruction. Secondly, the researchers tried to analyze characteristics of good insturction suggested by antecedent studies. Thirdly, the researchers attempted to define a new meaning of good instruction. A new meaning of good instruction should be defined in accordance with characteristics of three commonplaces composing instruction such as teaching activity, learning activity and good interactions between teacher and learner. Good instruction can be defined as followings. Good instruction means an instructional activity which can change the student's meanings of experience as a result of interactions among teacher, learner, and educational materials.

  • Purpose - The purpose is to present an efficient library-use education model in the form of flip learning, reflecting traditional teaching methods and gamification elements even in such non-face-to-face and face-to-face situations after COVID-19. Research design, data, and methodology - Research on library use education, research on ubiquitous environment and gamification instructional design, flip the learning, and gamification elements are classified, compared, and analyzed to present educational models for library education, COVID-19 Pandemic situation, and subsequent library use education. Result - We propose an e-learning content development strategy for flipped learning-based library education. First, benchmark and use the existing educational contents. Second, a user-friendly interface is configured so that learners can flexibly organize their learning contents. Third, it allows learners to experience it directly or indirectly in a virtual space. Conclusion - If the e-learning environment can be standardized to the level of schools or educational institutions, a good educational model that can be used not only in library user education but also in other fields will be possible.

  • This study developed and implemented a teaching · learning process plan for Home Economics in middle school by converging Habermas's three systems of action. It also examined the effect of the class through the evaluation of students and teachers who participated in the class. This study developed 10 sessions for a teaching and learning process plan by converging three systems of action and reconstructing learning elements related to 'balanced meal plan' and 'food choice' according to the practical action teaching model. After class, we surveyed the degree of help for students, analyzed the learning activity sheets, and analyzed the reflection journals of teachers to evaluate the effects of the class. This class was found to be the most helpful in practicing the healthy dietary life of students, expanding their thoughts, understanding learning contents, and helping them change their lives. As a result of analyzing the learning activity sheet, students gained enlightenment by reflecting and evaluating their action through the class; in addition, changes in interest, awareness, and action appeared. Through the convergence of three systems of action, teachers who practiced the class criticized and realized the act that students were unconsciously accepted. In addition, it confirmed the possibility that students could change their lives, family and society by promoting optimal nutrition and health for a good life that pursues the best good.

  • The critical point in this research is that the research on the phenomenon "teaching geography" should include how various elements consisting of the phenomenon are interrelated with each other in diverse angles, not deal with only teaching methods. This research focused on the relationships of the three components of teaching geography : contents of geography subject matter; learner; and scaffolding. Firstly, the characteristics of contents of geography subject matter were analyzed. Geographical knowledge was classified into four categories based on the way of perception. And then the selected geographic contents for this study were done didactic transposition into materials for geography education. These can be presented in a specific classification system from a context of geography education. Secondly, four categories of learning styles were divided by the way learners perceive and process information : Diverger; Assimilator; Converger; Accommodator. Each was connected with learner′s preferred contents of geography subject matter. The correlation between divergers and typical CulturalㆍHistorical Geography and Environmental Geography was high. So was between assimilators and typical Physical Geography and UrbanㆍEconomic Geography. Learners of Converger style tend to prefer GIS and Cartography. Finally, Regional Development and Regional Environmental Problems were highly correlated with accommodators.
