은 피복 Bi-2223 고온 초전도 선재의 교류손실 (Ac Losses of Ag sheathed Bi-2223 High-$T_{c}$ Superconducting Wire)

  • AC losses per cycle properties at 77K have been investigated on the Ag sheathed Bi2223 wire through two kinds of measuring methods(transport method and magnetic method). In case of transport method, the absolute value of losses agree with the results of Norris theory(strip and ellipse). In case of 19-filamentary tape, AC transport losses almost agree with those of magnetic method. In case of 1-filamentary tape, However, AC losses of magnetic method is smaller than AC transport losses

  • For the fast dry of the aqueous tape, the process which water was reaplaced by organic solvent was proposed. Socalled, it was the solvent washing dry. Three organic solvents (methanol, ethanol and acetone) were selected for the washing solvent. The weight loss of the washed tapes was measured to evaluate the dry rate of the tapes and dried tapes were examined the generation of the cracks with the variations of the organic solvent and the washing time. Methanol, ethanol and acetone were available organic solvents for this method. The tapes washed in methanol, ethanol and acetone were dried rapidly for twenty minutes. After thirty minutes, the weight losses were not found any more, The solvent of the lower surface tension can decreases the crack of dried tape. If solvent substitutes water completely, though it was fast dried, crack can be eliminated.

  • In this study, we investigated $Li_2ZrO_3$ membrane as a candidate material for high-temperature $CO_2$ separation and evaluated mechanical property. $Li_2ZrO_3$ powder was synthesized by solid state reaction of $Li_2CO_3\;and\;ZrO_2$. Then we fabricated $Li_2ZrO_3$ tape using tape casting method. Dense $Li_2ZrO_3$ membrane prepared by sintering at $1600^{\circ}C$ for 2 h after pressing $Li_2ZrO_3$ tape using lamination machine. Mechanical properties before and after $CO_2$ absorption of fabricated $Li_2ZrO_3$ membrane such as Hertzian indentation, Victors hardness and 3-point bending testing were evaluated.

  • Contact type Ic measurement system is needed to measure Ic continuously for long Bi-2223 tapes. Voltage and current terminals were designed several shapes for 4-probe method Ic measurement. Voltage terminals were made with brass and current terminals were made with Cu. We used 2 kinds of Bi-2223 tapes with different strength. When we measured Ic of Bi-2223 tape with Ag-Mg sheath, The proper weight was 0.3 kg and sharp pin type was better. according to voltage terminal shape and load. In case of Bi-2223 tape with Ag-Mn sheath, the proper terminal weight was 4 kg and sharp pin type was bad. It was possible to make continuous contact type Ic measurement system because We could get proper data - terminal shapes and loads - through these experiments.

  • Gas pressure sintered silicon nitride based composites with 3 wt% $\beta$-Si3N4 whiskers were prepared and change of properties according to the whisker orientation and sintering temperature was studied. The tapes with whiskers were fabricated by two different method ; conventional tape casting and a modified tape casting by using guide pins,. Orientations of the whiskers were controlled by different stacking sequences of the sheets cut from the tape. Samples were fully densified by gas pressure sintering at 2148-2273K. As the sintering temperature increased size of the large elongated grains increased. In case of unidirectional samples sintering shrinkage normal to the whisker alignment direction was larger than that of parallel to the direction and the shrinkage anisotropy increased slightly as sintering temperature increased. As sintering temperature increased the crack length parallel to whisker alignment direction became shorter but that normal to the direction did not depend on sintering temperature. In case of cross-plied samples the anisotropy of mechanical properties disappeared.

Fabrication and Characterization of High Temperature Electrostatic Chucks

  • It was suggested that tape casting method can be used to fabricate high-temperature electrostatic chucks(HTESC) based on a metal substrate coated with a glass-ceramic insulating layer. The adhesion of the coating was excellent such that it was able to withstand temperature cycling to over $300^{\circ}C$ without spalling. The electrostatic clamping pressure reached a very high value of about 9 torr at 600V and generally followed the theoretical voltage-squared curve. Based on these results, we believe that we successfully developed a viable technique for manufacturing low cost HTESC.

  • The stainless steel sheathed MgB$_2$ tapes with Cu addition were fabricated by PIT method without heat treatment. The $J_{c}$ value of 5,600 A/ $cm^{2}$and 16,000 A/$cm^{2}$ at 4.2 K and 5 T were obtained for the $MgB_{2}$ tape and 10 vol % of Cu added $MgB_{2}$ tape respectively. The $J_{c}$-B curve shows enhancement in J$_{c}$ under magnetic field, which suggests enhancement in flux pinning property with Cu addition.n.
