Analysis of standby power for enhancing the energy efficiency of a hotel guestroom - Focusing on check-out status - (호텔 객실의 에너지 효율화를 위한 대기전력 분석 - 체크아웃 상태를 중심으로 -)

  • The issue of hotel energy use is growing more significant as the hotel industry expands. It is important to take into account the electrical installation and space-specific features in a room unit in order to comprehend the energy consumption of a hotel guestroom. In light of this, this study aimed to analyze standby power for enhancing the energy efficiency of a hotel guestroom during check-out status. This study was conducted in three steps: (i) data collection; (ii) analysis of energy consumption patterns; and (iii) analysis of energy efficiency improvement plan. The main findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First, 32.24% of energy was used in fan coil unit) during check-out status. Second, a hotel guestroom had a 4.30% energy saving potential, based on energy consumption patterns during check-out status. This study can contribute to support hotel management to operate guestrooms differently by helping them identify patterns in energy use and realize potential savings.

Food consumption behaviors of women by marital status: focus on the 2015 consumers survey data on food consumption behaviors (여성의 결혼여부에 따른 식품소비양상 연구 : 2015년 식품소비행태조사의 식품주 구입자 자료를 이용하여)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to analyze food consumption behavior of women by marital status based on the 2015 consumer survey data on Food Consumption Behaviors of the Korea Rural Economic Institute. Methods: We analyzed data describing 3,312 women aged 19 ~ 75 who were the main buyers of foods in their household. The food purchase patterns, dining-out behavior, and use of food-delivery and take-out were investigated. Results: Overall, 40.5% of unmarried women shopped for food once per week and 37.4% spent 200,000 ~ 400,000 won per month. Additionally, 43.1% of married women shopped 2 ~ 3 times per week and 26.6% spent 400,000 ~ 600,000 won (p < 0.0001). Dining-out frequency and one-time cost per person of dining-out for unmarried women were higher than those for married women. With delivery/take-out food frequency, 2 time per week was the highest rate among married women (34.6%) and once per week was the highest among unmarried women (31.2%) respectively. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate food consumption behaviors and trends of Korean women by marital status. This study provides basic data that will be useful for food industries establishing marketing strategies to better meet consumer demands.

  • In a power system, an out-of-step condition causes a variety of risk such as serious damage to system elements, tripping of loads and generators, mal-operation of relays, etc. Therefore, it is very important to detect the out-of-step condition and take a proper measure. Several out-of-step detection methods have been employed in relays until now. Most common method used for an out-of-step detection is based on the transition time through the blocking impedance area in R-X diagram. Also, the R-R dot out-of-step relay, the out-of-step prediction method and the adaptive out-of-step relay using the equal area criterion (EAC) and Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology have been developed. This paper presents the out-of-step detection algorithm using the time variation of the complex power. The complex power is calculated and the mechanical power of the generator is estimated by using the electrical power, and then the out-of-step detection algorithm which is based on the complex power and the estimated mechanical power, is presented. This algorithm may detect the instant when the generator angle passes the Unstable Equilibrium Point (UEP). The proposed out-of-step algorithm is verified and tested by using Alternative Transient Program/Electromagnetic Transient Program (ATP/EMTP) MODELS.

  • This paper proposes a new image processing algorithm to recognize korean documents. It take out the region of text area form input image, then it makes esgmentation of lines, words and characters in the text. A precision segmentation is very important to recognize the input document. The input image has 8-bit gray scaled resolution. Not only the histogram but also brightness dispersion graph are used for segmentation. The result shows a higher accuracy of document recognition.

  • This paper proposes a new image processing algorithm to recognize korean documents. It take out the region of syllable area from input character image, then it makes recognition of a consonant and a vowel in the character. A precision segmentation is very important to recognize the input character. The input image has 8-bit gray scaled resolution. Not only the shape but also vertical and horizontal lines dispersion graph are used for segmentation. Theresult shows a higher accuracy of character segmentation.

  • Recently, X-ray chest radiograph is showing a tendency to take an image of digital radiograph so as to diagnose the pathological pattern of chest in a usual. When the radiologist observes the chest image derived from digital radiograph system on the monitor. he feels difficult to find out because of the sensitivity of chest radiograph. It takes amount of time to adjust the proper image for diagnosis. Therefore, we provided the result and the method of the optimal image equalization for image enhancement.

  • This research is aimed at the development of the composite beam-column connection system by which the steel beam can be connected to the R/C column with smooth stress transfer. As the first step of the structural performance tests of the system, bearing resistance test has been carried out for actual size specimen. From the test, the connection system has been proved to take good bonding and stress transfer to the surrounding concrete with negligible relative displacements.
