This thesis will select one of the books that went out of print, and republish it using the ePub and PDF format to observe the effective and economic method to republish it as an e-book. Conclusively, e-book in PDF format was advantageous over ePub production. The ePub has limitations of electronically publishing the books went out of print prior to 21st century when storing the original text was not common, as well as book with complex layouts. The PDF format was able to capture and recreate the sensitivity that can only be presented by vintage books, also adding to the cultural value. To publish PDF e-books, the foremost requirement is to prepare a standardized system that allows comprehensive browsing of the current status of the book, and also creating an environment for copyrighted publishers to more actively publish e-books by diversifying the distribution platforms and properly allocating the profit generated by use of the copyright. This thesis provides a simulation of e-book publications, for small and medium size publishers and writers who are hesitant to publish e-books, to take more aggressive approach in entering the business.

The fact that soil loss causing to increase muddy water and devastate an ecosystem has been appearing upon a hot social and environmental issues which should be solved. Soil losses are occurring in most agricultural areas with rainfall-induced runoff. It makes hydraulic structure unstable, causing environmental and economical problems because muddy water destroys ecosystem and causes intake water deterioration. One of three severe muddy water source areas in Soyanggang-dam watershed is Jawoon-ri region, located in Hongcheon county. In this area, many cash-crops are planted at illegally cultivated agricultural fields, which were virgin forest areas. The purpose of this study is to estimate soil loss with current land uses (including illegal cash-crop cultivation) and soil loss reduction with land use conversion from illegal cultivation back to forest. In this study, the Sediment Assessment Tool for Effective Erosion Control (SATEEC) ArcView GIS system was utilized to assess soil erosion. If the illegally cultivated agricultural areas are converted back to forest, it is expected to 17.42% reduction in soil loss. At the Jawoon-ri region, illegally cultivated agricultural areas located at over 30% and 15% slopes take 47.48 ha (30.83%) and 103.64 ha (67.29%) of illegally cultivated agricultural fields respectively. If all illegally cultivated agricultural fields are converted back to forest, it is expected that 17.41% of soil erosion and sediment reduction, 10.86% reduction with forest conversion from 30% sloping illegally agricultural fields, and 16.15% reduction with forest conversion from 15% sloping illegally agricultural fields. Therefore, illegally cultivated agricultural fields located at these sloping areas need to be first converted back to forest to maximize reductions in soil loss reduction and muddy water outflow from the Jawoon-ri regions.
This paper presents a constrained-based routing (CBR) algorithm called, Dynamic Possible Path per Link (D-PPL) routing algorithm, for MultiProtocol Label Switching (MPLS) networks. In MPLS on-line routing, future traffics are unknown and network resource is limited. Therefore many routing algorithms such as Minimum Hop Algorithm (MHA), Widest Shortest Path (WSP), Dynamic Link Weight (DLW), Minimum Interference Routing Algorithm (MIRA), Profiled-Based Routing (PBR), Possible Path per Link (PPL) and Residual bandwidth integrated - Possible Path per Link (R-PPL) are proposed in order to improve network throughput and reduce rejection probability. MIRA is the first algorithm that introduces interference level avoidance between source-destination node pairs by integrating topology information or address of source-destination node pairs into the routing calculation. From its results, MIRA improves lower rejection probability performance. Nevertheless, MIRA suffer from its high routing complexity which could be considered as NP-Complete problem. In PBR, complexity of on-line routing is reduced comparing to those of MIRA, because link weights are off-line calculated by statistical profile of history traffics. However, because of dynamic of traffic nature, PBR maybe unsuitable for MPLS on-line routing. Also, both PPL and R-PPL routing algorithm we formerly proposed, are algorithms that achieve reduction of interference level among source-destination node pairs, rejection probability and routing complexity. Again, those previously proposed algorithms do not take into account the dynamic nature of traffic load. In fact, future traffics are unknown, but, amount of previous traffic over link can be measured. Therefore, this is the motivation of our proposed algorithm, the D-PPL. The D-PPL algorithm is improved based on the R-PPL routing algorithm by integrating traffic-per-link parameters. The parameters are periodically updated and are dynamically changed depended on current incoming traffic. The D-PPL tries to reserve residual bandwidth to service future request by avoid routing through those high traffic-per-link parameters. We have developed extensive MATLAB simulator to evaluate performance of the D-PPL. From simulation results, the D-PPL improves performance of MPLS on-line routing in terms of rejection probability and total throughput.

The ACI 318-05 code requires the maximum amount of shear reinforcement in reinforced concrete (RC) beams to prevent possible sudden shear failure due to over reinforcement. The design equations of the maximum amount of shear reinforcement provided by the current four design codes, ACI 318-05, CSA-04, EC2-02, and JCI-99, differ substantially from one another. The ACI 318-05, CSA-04, and EC2-02 codes provide an expression for the maximum amount of shear reinforcement ratio as a function of the concrete compressive strength, but Japanese code does not take into account the influence of the concrete compressive strength. For high strength concrete, the maximum amount of shear reinforcement calculated by the EC2-02 and CSA-04 is much greater than that calculated by the ACI 318-05. This paper presents the effects of shear reinforcement ratio and compressive strength of concrete on the maximum shear reinforcement in reinforced concrete beams. Ten RC beams having various shear reinforcement ratio were tested. Although the test beams were designed to have much more amount of shear reinforcement than that required in the ACI 318-05 code, all beams failed due to web concrete crushing after the stirrups reached the yield strain.
Building has been deteriorated over the year after construction. The deterioration has caused to hinder the living condition and to decrease the building value. Thus, it is important to prevent or delay the building deterioration as well as to proceed the maintenance. The long-term repair program for the apartment in Korea plays a key role to make the repair plan after construction and to assure the function decent. This is not flexible to the change of the material and component because the program is provided by the Korean-law. Many items are omitted in the long-term program so that the maintenance experts face many difficulties to make a repair plan. In this paper, it aimed at providing the repair cycle and repair ratio according to the repair scope, which are not provided in the current program. This study shows that the repair ratio is presented with quartile range in 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. This has an advantage to take an overall look in repair items. Under this presentation of the repair ratio, each item has a unique repair value. Second, the repair scope is divided into partly repair, fully repair, partly alteration and fully alteration. If a fully repair has a repair ratio close to 100%, it would mean that a fully repair is a fully alteration. Third, the short repair cycle means that it requires to maintain the function or performance of the components in a short term.
Over a few decades, off-site construction (OSC) has been widely used for building and bridge constructions. OSC is a construction method that build structures at a different location than the location of use, and normally it occurs in a manufacturing plant. There are many studies on the perceived benefits of OSC, yet relatively few studies which quantitatively assess the benefits and factors affecting the decision of the use of OSC have been investigated. This study investigates the influencing factors of the use of OSC system and its revitalization solutions in the construction industry. As the research method, interview and questionnaire survey are conducted by visiting industry experts of OSC and sending a questionnaire to the OSC stakeholders including engineers, manufacturers, contractors and clients in the United Kingdom (UK). The construction industry of the UK is targeted for the study since it has a number of commons with the Korean construction industry in terms of the structure of the construction industry and current low take-up of the OSC. The survey provides the results that the reluctance of clients to use OSC is the key factor of the slow use of OSC despite of the perceived benefits of OSC. In addition, in order to revitalize OSC in the construction market, three revival recommendations are suggested based on the survey results.

Background: Cervical cancer, which is common in developing countries, is also a major health issue in Korea. Our aim was to evaluate the cost-effectiveness of Korea's National Cancer Screening Program (NCSP), implemented in 1999. Materials and Methods: The target population was Korean women 30 years or over who were invited to take part in the NCSP in 2002-2007. By merging NCSP records with Korean Central Cancer Registry data, patients diagnosed with cervical cancer who had been screened were assigned to a "screened group," while patients diagnosed elsewhere were assigned to a "non-screened group." Clinical outcomes were measured in terms of life-years saved (LYS), derived from 5-year mortality rates supplied by the Korean National Health Insurance Corporation and National Statistical Office. Direct and travel costs associated with screening were evaluated from the perspective of the payer, the NCSP. Results: A diagnosis via screening was associated with 2.30 LYS, and the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) estimate for screening was 7,581,679 KW/LYS (6,727 USD/LYS). ICER estimates were lower for older patients (${\geq}$ 50 years) than younger patients (4,047,033 KW/LYS vs 5,680,793 KW/LYS). The proportion of early-stage cancers detected was 16.3% higher in the screened group. Conclusions: In light of Korea's per capita gross domestic product (32,272 USD in 2012), the current NCSP's incremental cost per LYS appears acceptable.

The objective of this study is to examine the images of the current uniforms and to provide the basic references in designing female flight attendants uniforms. In Incheon International Airlines, 11 of the major airlines with the most passengers along with the highest capacity were chosen and 22 pieces of photographs were collected, two photos coming from each airline companies. The semantic differential scale has been formed by 16 pairs of adjectives. Then, it has conducted a statistical analysis using a SPSS WINDOWS that contains 475 copies of the selected questionnaires (375 of the non-flight attendants, and 100 of the female flight attendants). The following are the results and the conclusion of this study. According to this study, four main components of the uniforms of the female flight attendants were attractiveness, femininity, noticeability, and activity, which have occupied $65.9\%$ of the total variance. It was concluded that attractiveness and femininity were two main factors in perceiving the females' uniforms. According to the results of the uniform image difference, it was shown that Asiana Airline's uniform is the most attractive and Cathay Pacific Airline uniform is the most feminine. The most noticeable uniform was from Singapore airline which included cultural and traditional components of its own national colors. Pants suits of Lufthansa airline and Northwest airline were shown as the most active uniforms. There were significant differences in uniform images according to subjects' gender, age, education, and occupation. Men perceived uniforms more attractive, feminine, and active than women. People over 40 perceived uniforms more attractive, feminine, and active, and the High School graduates perceived uniforms more feminine and active. On occupational basis, Federal workers and Educators perceived uniforms more active on uniforms. Passengers who take planes once a month perceived uniforms more attractive, feminine, and active.
The goal of this research is to explore quantitative and residential features and spatial patterns of two-person households to suggest policy implications for housing supply and development in Seoul. Major findings of this study are as follows. First, the number of two-person households has increased rapidly mainly due to the growth of the elderly and single-parent households. They are mainly composed of the elderly over 60s and the youth of 30s of householder age. They are less likely to have well-paying jobs, and thus more likely to suffer from poverty. They are also inclined to live in rental and small-sized residential units and spatial segregation between the youth and the elderly became serious. In addition, their residential area can be classified into four types: area adjacent to employment centers, hinterland of urban centers, affordable multi-family housing area and redeveloped apartment area. It is necessary to change the current housing policy directions to take changing population and household structure into consideration. Also, diversified housing strategies and programs should be prepared to consider various household types and their needs and demands. Place-based strategies for housing supply and development are needed in consideration of spatial patterns and locational attributes of two-person households. Attention needs to be paid to resolving the social issue of residential segregation between different generations.
The potential impact of aircraft emissions on the current and projected climate of our planet is one of the more important environmental issues facing the aviation industry. Increasing concern over the potential negative effects of greenhouse gas emissions has motivated the development of an aircraft emission estimation and prediction system as one of the ways to reduce aircraft emissions and mitigate the impact of aviation on climate. Hence, in this research, using Piano-X software which was developed by Lissys Co., fuel consumption and emissions for 3 types of aircraft were estimated for different design payloads with various flight distances and flight paths. Fuel burns for economy speed, long range cruise speed, maximum range speed were also investigated with various flight distances and altitudes.
