다구찌 기법을 이용한 윈드실드 수직축 풍력 터빈의 기초 실험 연구 (Basic Experiment Using Taguchi method for Vertical Wind Turbine with Wind-shield)

  • This study aimed to develop a wind turbine system for the domestic wind environments. The Taguchi method was applied to obtain the optimal design for a wind turbine with a wind-shield. The design parameters were defined to look for the shape of the wind turbine. Optimal parameters were determined on the basis of the analyzed level averages of the characteristics. According to the test results to which the optimal parameters were applied, the rpm improved. It was also found that a windshield 3/4 the size contributes to improving the efficiency of existing turbines.

  • The effect of manufacturing parameters on wear and improve cooling of motorcycle break system was studied using a disk-on-pad type friction tester. Such parameters conditions have an effect on the wear and improve cooling factor such as applied load, sliding speed, frictional time and number of ventilated disk hole. However, it is difficult to know the mutual relation of these factor. In this study, the wear and cooling characteristics using design of experiment containing 4 elements were investigated for an optimal condition for the best motorcycle disk break system employing Taguchi robust experimental design. From this study, the result was shown that vents have an effect on convection area improving more cooling ability and reduced wear of the disk.

  • An automobile outside rear view mirror system has been analyzed and designed to reduce vibration with a finite element model. model analysis is conducted for the calculation of natural frequencies. harmonic analysis is utilized to estimate the displacements of the glass surface under dynamic loads. The model is verified with the vibration experiment of the parts and the assembled body. The structure of the mirror system is optimized for the robustness defined by the Taguchi concept. At first, many potential design variables are defined. Final design variables are selected based on the amount of contribution on the objective function. That is, sensitive variables are chose. The SN ratio in the Taguchi method is replaced by an objective function with the mean and the standard deviation of the quality characteristic. The defined objective function is appropriate in the structural design in that the vibration displacements are minimized while the robustness is improved.

  • Numerical simulations of coal combustion were carried out to identify what kind of burner design parameters are affecting the NOx emission. Where used burner design parameters are primary air velocity, secondary air velocity, $2^{nd}/3^{rd}$ air ratio, tertiary air velocity, and tertiary air injection location. Taguchi method was used to find the effective burner design parameters related to NOx formation. The results of numerical simulations showed that secondary air velocity and $2^{nd}/3^{rd}$ air ratio was the key parameters reducing the NOx emission. The total number of simulation cases was reduced by Taguchi method.

  • The design of an occupant protection equipment has been considered as the important process in developing a new car since the crash performance plays an important role on the market. The cost is increased when an unexpected real test is carried out in the proto-design stage. Thus, the exact prediction of a crash performance can reduce the number of full-car test. In this research, the robust design of an airbag system considering the frontal crash is suggested to predict the more reliable responses. On the contrary, most existing researches do not consider the uncertainties. The uncertainties treated in this research are the tolerances of the vent hole, the time to fire and the length of a strap in airbag and the tolerance of the load limiter load in seat belt.   • By the reason of increased demand of high productivity, the researches on manufacturing process and equipments for reducing cycle time have been made in many directions of a machine tool industries. Among these, this paper proposed method of decreasing displacement in MC(machining center). Factors affecting displacement are a motor mass, head thickness, column thickness and base thickness. In this paper We could find design factors has much influence on decreasing the unclamping time using the Taguchi method and optimized the level of the factors using $ADAMS^{(R)}$.

  • In parameter design, Taguchi's stated objective is to find the setting of product or process design parameters that minimize average quadratic loss-that is, the average squared deviation of the response from its target value. Yet in practice to choose the settings of design parameters he maximizeds a set of measures called signal-to-noise(SN) ratios. In general, Taguchi gave no justification for the use the SN ratios and no explanation of why the two-step procedure that he recommened will minimize average loss. The purpose of this study is comparing and analyzing of performance statistics by Leon et al(PerMIA), Box(Transformation theory), Vining & Myers(Dual Response Systems) and Taguchi(Signal-to-Noise ratios).

  • In product design and manufacturing, axiomatic design provides a systematic approach for the decision-making process. Two axioms have been defined such as the Independence Axiom and the Information Axiom. The Information Axiom states that the best design among those that satisfy the independence axiom is the one with the least information content. In other words, the best design is the one that has the highest probability of success. On the other hand, the Taguchi robust design is used in the two-step process; one is "reduce variability," and the other is "adjust the mean on the target." The two-step can be interpreted as a problem that has two FRs (functional requirements). Therefore, the Taguchi method should be used based on the satisfaction of the Independence Axiom. Common aspects exist between the Taguchi method and Axiomatic Design in that a robust design is induced. However, different characteristics are found as well. The Taguchi method does not have the design range, and the probability of success may not be enough to express robustness. Our purpose is to find the one that has the highest probability of success and the smallest variation. A new index is proposed to satisfy these conditions. The index is defined by multiplication of the robustness weight function and the probability density function. The robustness weight function has the maximum at the target value and zero at the boundary of the design range. The validity of the index is proved through various examples.gh various examples.

Application of Taguchi method in optimization of process parameters of ODS tungsten heavy alloys

  • In the present work, a design of experiment (DOE) technique using Taguchi method, has been applied to optimize the properties of ODS tungsten heavy alloys(WHAs). In this work Taguchi method involves nine experiments groups for four processing parameters (compaction pressure, sintering temperature, binding material type, and oxide type) with three levels was implemented. The signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to obtain the optimal process parameter levels and to analyze the effect of these parameters on density, electrical conductivity, hardness and compressive strength values. The results showed that all the chosen factors have significant effects on all properties of ODS tungsten heavy alloys samples. The density, electrical conductivity and hardness increases with the increase in sintering temperature. The analysis of the verification experiments for the physical properties (density and Electrical conductivity) has shown that Taguchi parameter design can successfully verify the optimal parameters, where the difference between the predicted and the verified values of relative density and electrical conductivity is about 1.01% and 1.15% respectively.

마이크로스트립 패치 안테나 설계에서 타구치 직교배열표의 유용성 분석 (Analysis for Usefulness of Taguchi's Orthogonal Array in Microstrip Patch Antenna Design)

  • 타구치 직교배열표를 활용하여 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나 설계를 효율적으로 수행 가능한지를 분석하였다. 비교 및 분석을 위하여 U-슬롯 마이크로스트립 패치 안테나에서 U-슬롯의 모양과 변형된 급전부의 요소를 파라미터로 정했다. 해당 파라미터들의 스윕을 통해 도출된 모든 시뮬레이션의 결과와 타구치의 직교배열표를 이용하여 도출된 축소 시뮬레이션 결과를 비교분석하였다. 파라미터 스윕을 이용하여 진행된 19,683회의 시뮬레이션을 타구치의 직교배열표를 이용한 27번의 시뮬레이션으로 대폭 축소하였으며, 파라미터 스윕과 직교배열표를 이용한 시뮬레이션의 평균 10dB 대역폭은 3.7%의 오차를 가진다. 따라서, 시뮬레이션 횟수를 줄이고도 효율적으로 안테나 파라미터 특성을 파악할 수 있음을 확인했다.
