The disease known as cerebral cavernous malformations mostly occurs in the central nervous system, and their typical histological presentations are multiple lumen formation and vascular leakage at the brain capillary level, resulting in disruption of the blood-brain barrier. These abnormalities result in severe neurological symptoms such as seizures, focal neurological deficits and hemorrhagic strokes. CCM research has identified 'loss of function' mutations of three ccm genes responsible for the disease and also complex regulation of multiple signaling pathways including the WNT/β-catenin pathway, TGF-β and Notch signaling by the ccm genes. Although CCM research is a relatively new and small scientific field, as CCM research has the potential to regulate systemic blood vessel permeability and angiogenesis including that of the blood-brain barrier, this field is growing rapidly. In this review, I will provide a brief overview of CCM pathogenesis and function of ccm genes based on recent progress in CCM research.

Objectives : This study was performed to review the research trends in treatment for acute alcohol intoxication in traditional Chinese medicine. Methods : 19 studies were selected by searching CNKI(China National Knowledge Infrastructure) from 2006 to 2011, and we performed a systemic review of them. Results : All studies are controlled clinical trials using pharmacopuncture therapy. Each experimental group was given various kinds of pharmacopuncture therapy, whereas each control group was given another western medicine or treatment. Emergent treatment was used in both groups. The results of 15 studies showed that pharmacopuncture therapy has an effect on the treatment of acute alcohol intoxication. However the quality of these clinical trials wasn't high. Conclusions : It seems that the researches for acute alcohol intoxication have been performed actively in traditional Chinese medicine. We hope that our study can activate clinical research for this disorder in Korean traditional medicine.

Background: Inflammation is a host-defensive innate immune response to protect the body from pathogenic agents and danger signals induced by cellular changes. Although inflammation is a host-defense mechanism, chronic inflammation is considered a major risk factor for the development of a variety of inflammatory autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatic diseases. Rheumatic diseases are systemic inflammatory and degenerative diseases that primarily affect connective tissues and are characterized by severe chronic inflammation and degeneration of connective tissues. Ginseng and its bioactive ingredients, genocides, have been demonstrated to have antiinflammatory activity and pharmacological effects on various rheumatic diseases by inhibiting the expression and production of inflammatory mediators. Methods: Literature in this review was searched in a PubMed site of National Center for Biotechnology Information. Results: The studies reporting the preventive and therapeutic effects of ginseng and ginsenosides on the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases were discussed and summarized. Conclusion: Ginseng and ginsenosides play an ameliorative role on rheumatic diseases, and this review provides new insights into ginseng and ginsenosides as promising agents to prevent and treat rheumatic diseases.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare disorder characterized by the proliferation of dendritic cells resulting in local or systemic symptoms. The clinical symptoms of patients with Langerhans cell histiocytosis depend on the site and the degree of involvement. This article describes two case histories of unifocal bony Langerhans cell histiocytosis with mandibular involvement and further discusses the appropriate management of such via a review of the literature.

This study aims to analyze users' assessment of electronic libraries in the mobile app market and promote service improvement based on this. To this end, the basic background and purpose of the research, research method, and research scope were first set, and the relevant literature and empirical prior studies were analyzed. Next, users' evaluations of electronic libraries were collected and analyzed from Google Play Store. Based on the results analyzed, measures to improve the quality of electronic libraries were discussed. Based on the results of the study, the following improvement measures are proposed. Need for systemic improvement and stabilization. Provision of applications suitable for multi-device environments. Resumption of services after systematic inspection after updating. Simplification of sign up, log in, and authentication procedures. User support through real-time chat. Introduction of a detailed assessment of reviews. Provision of guidance and user manual for electronic libraries. Improvements to expand user convenience, and Securing differentiation from other similar services.

This study is an attempted content analysis study to analyze recent studies on clinical practice of nursing college students to identify problems with clinical practice and provide evidence for desirable clinical practice. For data collection, a total of 14 papers published in academic journals between 2017 and 2021 were selected. The analysis method was performed according to the systematic review reporting guidelines presented by Cochrane Collaboration and the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) group. As a result of the analysis, two themes, Four sub-themes, and seventeen concepts were derived, and the clinical practice study of nursing college students showed the necessity of standardized clinical practice protocol regulations for nursing college students and respect for patient human rights. Based on the above research results, it is proposed to prepare a nursing and clinical practice protocol that can clearly present the role of nursing college students during clinical practice.

Topical anesthetics are routinely used in dental practice for various purposes. They are usually available at higher dosages and have serious potential adverse reactions, such as seizures, anaphylaxis, and acquired methemoglobinemia. To date, the scope of application of herbal plants and their extracts, which have medicinal properties, has been elaborated in the field of dentistry. The growing interest in herbal medication can be attributed to the increased safety profile of herbal agents, in contrast to synthetic preparations that have a higher risk of systemic complications. Herbal preparations can induce topical anesthesia with minimal side effects. Recently, many studies have reported the use of topical herbal preparations. The current review aimed to evaluate data from various articles comparing the capacity of herbal topical anesthetic formulations and conventional synthetic anesthetics in reducing pain perception when used as local anesthesia before dental procedures.

Nursing majors are a combination of theoretical and practical education, and since the advisor cannot participate in all practices in clinical practice, the efficiency and effectiveness of practical education are limited in judging the results according to students' reactions. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze the domestic literature on the efficiency of clinical practice of nursing college students.The analysis target was selected through PRISMA flow, and the results were derived through categorization and questioning based on content analysis. Looking at the results, research related to the adaptation of trainees was mainstream, and specifically, research related to the characteristics, conflicts, clinical practice environment, and interpersonal anguish of trainees was conducted. In addition, it was confirmed that active and systematic intervention of practical guidance professors was required, such as possible safety accidents, emotional labor problems, and dilemmas during the practice period. Through this study, it is suggested that a systematic framework for nursing and clinical practice should be prepared.

Advances in perinatal and pediatric intensive care and recent advances in mechanical ventilation during the last two decades have resulted in an exponential increase in the number of children undergoing home mechanical ventilation (HMV) treatment. Although its efficacy in chronic respiratory failure is well established, HMV in children is more complex than that in adults, and there are more considerations. This review outlines clinical considerations for HMV in children. The goal of HMV in children is not only to correct alveolar hypoventilation but also to maximize development as much as possible. The modes of ventilation and ventilator settings, including ventilation masks, tubing, circuits, humidification, and ventilator parameters, should be tailored to the patient's individual characteristics. To ensure effective HMV, education for the parent and caregiver is important. HMV continues to change the scope of treatment for chronic respiratory failure in children in that it decreases respiratory morbidity and prolongs life spans. Further studies on this topic with larger scale and systemic approach are required to ensure the better outcomes in this population.

Allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) is presumed to modulate the natural course of allergic disease by inducing immune tolerance. However, conventional AITs, such as subcutaneous immunotherapy and sublingual immunotherapy, require long treatment durations and often provoke local or systemic hypersensitivity reactions. Therefore, only <5% of allergy patients receive AIT as second-line therapy. Novel administration routes, such as intralymphatic, intradermal and epicutaneous immunotherapies, and synthetic recombinant allergen preparations have been evaluated to overcome these limitations. We will review the updated views of diverse AIT methods, and discuss the limitations and opportunities of the AITs for the treatment of allergic diseases in humans.
