  • in this paper, each methodology, e.g. normal single PID controller, direct synthesis method and inverse response compensator, will be compared to determine the best inverse response plant control method, by based on the appearance of the control performance and robustness from the simulation results. The flexibility of being able to maintain the system stability during the presence of plant model mismatch is one of the criteria to measure the robustness of overall control system. Once, plant has changed the condition, the model will need to be updated. Hence, the designed controller will not work properly. The caused of plant model mismatch is stayed by definition unknown but the most possib...

  • In order to control the transient torsional vibration of rotational shaft system, the torsional stiffness of it has been taken into account in modelling the plant. In this paper the observer and controller has been designed in two ways. One is to consider the torsional stiffness and the other is to idealize the rotational shaft as rigid body. The third order observer considering torsional stiffness shows stable response on computer simulation. When the observer is designed on assumption of the rotational shaft being rigid body, the reduced order observer shows stable response whereas the full order observer shows unstable response.

  • The influence of the dam-reservoir interaction on the seismic response of concrete dam is studied. The dam body is assumed to behave elastically and modeled by FEM. The impounded water is assumed to be inviscid and compressible fluid and modeled by BEM. The seismic response of dam-reservoir system is analyzed by coupling two regions : the dam body and reservoir.

  • New Thrie-Beam guardrail section has been developed. The Characteristic of its geometry, energy absorbing capability and response to impact has been studied and compared with those of conventional W-Beam guardrail system. To compare the response to impact computer simulation using Barrier Ⅶ program was made. Stretch tests and static loading tests were conducted for the performance verifications.

  • In the field of population dynamics and chemical reaction the possibility or the existence of spatially and temporally nonhomogeneous solutions is a very important problem. For last 50 years or so there have been many results on the pattern formation of chemical reaction systems studying reaction systems with or without diffusions to explain instabilities and nonhomogeneous states arising in biological situations. In this paper we study time-dependent properties of a predator-prey system with functional response and give sufficient conditions that guarantee the existence of stable limit cycles.

  • The subject of nonlinear control is an important area of automatic control. The behavior of nonlinear systems is much more complex. If the operating range of a control system is small, and if the involved nonlinearities are smooth, then the control system may be resonably approximated by a set of linear differential equations. This paper presents the deadbeat response attribute of some nonlinear systems, e.g., magnetic levitation, pendulum, van der pol oscillator etc.. The studied results through the computer simulation are shown a promising attribute of deadbeat response that the outputs of the systems are reached relatively fast the steady state.

  • A new structure-vibration-control approach is proposed which uses a passive coupling element between two parallel structures to reduce the seismic response of a system due to earthquake excitation. Dynamic characteristics of the two coupled single-degree-freedom systems subject to stationary white-noise excitation are examined by means of statistical energy analysis (SEA) techniques. Optimal parameters of the passive coupling element such as damping and stiffness under different circumstances are determined with an emphasis on the influence of the structural parameters of the system on the optimal parameters and control effectiveness. Numerical results including the root mean square values of the response due to the filtered white-noise excitation and the time-histories of response to El Centro 1940 NS excitation are presented.

  • The correlation identification of the subsurface is a novel electrical prospecting method which could suppress stochastic noise. This method is increasingly being utilized by geophysicists. It achieves the frequency response of the underground media through division of the cross spectrum of the input & output signal and the auto spectrum of the input signal. This is subject to the spectral leakage when the cross spectrum and the auto spectrum are computed from cross correlation and autocorrelation function by Discrete Fourier Transformation (DFT, "To obtain an accurate frequency response of the earth system, we propose an improved correlation identification method which uses all phase Fast Fourier Transform (APFFT) to acquire the cross spectrum and the auto spectrum. Simulation and engineering application results show that compared to existing correlation identification algorithm the new approach demonstrates more precise frequency response, especially the phase response of the system under identification.

  • The dynamic response characteristics of Tension Leg Platforms(TLPs) in waves are examined for presenting the basic data for design of TLPs. The numerical approach is based on a combination of the three dimensional source distribution method and the dynamic response analysis method, in which the superstructure of TLP is assumed to be flexible instead of rigid. Restoring forces by hydrostatic pressure on the submerged surface of a TLP have been accurately calculated by excluding the assumption of the slender body theory. The hydrodynamic interactions among TLP members, such as columns and pontoons, and the structural damping are included in the motion and structural analysis. Numerical results are compared with the experimental ones, which are obtained in the literature, concerning the motion and tension responses of a TLP in waves. The results of comparison confirmed the validity of the proposed approach.

  • The smart grid is a next-generation power grid to create a new value-added information technology. Power providers and consumers exchange information in real-time bi-directional, and optimize energy efficiency with using the smart grid. This paper describes the concept of demand response of the communication system used in the protocol, implementation of demand response systems with demand response scenarios for power reduction through the air conditioning control.
