This paper presents a structured framework for developing the embedded subsystem, called ESDMP (Embedded Subsystem Development Methodology for POP), which is one of core components at the development of POP (Point Of Production) system. It is essential that embedded subsystem development methodology must be closely related to the general information system development methodology from the early stage of system development. Therefore, this paper investigates the PDSM (Production System Development Methodology) that is developed by Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs and widely utilized at the fields of POP system development, and proposes the embedded subsystem development methodology aligned with each step of PSDM. The main characteristics of proposed methodology are as follows : First, it is developed to link each step of embedded subsystem development with relating steps of PSDM from the early stage of feasibility study. Second, it provides the procedure for designing and implementing hardware and software simultaneously. Third, it includes the method of reusability for developed products and modules.

A methodology is often used in solving complex problems. As a typical case of complex problem solving, development of information systems mostly requires a use of system development methodology. However, it is not always easy or smooth for organizations to adopt the methodology and to achieve a positive outcome from their application in real project situations. Although there are a few studies to find out success factors in the implementation of the methodology, they did not take into consideration essential characteristics of the methodology. This study aims to analyze the quality of the methodology as a key determinant to influence the performance of the methodology application.
Recently, most of the information system use environment is changing to GUI environment based on windows and web. Most of the development tools for building such a GUI-based information system support object-oriented and event-driven programming concepts. However, there is still a lack of a development methodology that systematically supports event-based information system construction. From a business perspective, an information system is one that supports business processes efficiently and effectively to improve business performance. These business processes are composed of business activities which involve a series of business events. A business event is executed according to a business scenario. Therefore, it is necessary to grasp these events in the requirements analysis stage and to apply it on the system development methodology. However, information systems development methodology which systematically reflect the event processing concept still is insufficient. From this viewpoint, this paper proposes an event-driven scenario-based development methodology that can meet the recent development environment of information systems, and applies the proposed methodology to a small scale information system development case.
The methodology for maintenance system development should overall be considered with all of task characteristic, schedule, and the technical condition of investment sources. This research applies Waterfall model to methodology for the development and construction of maintenance system through customizing the CD (Custom Development) procedure of "HSDM (Hyundai System Development Methodology)" based on information engineering. The waterfall model called as classic life cycle paradigm is defined for the sequent development procedure, which make progress a next step after that a previous step is admitted with thorough review. This model which is popular and the oldest paradigm is used for system development by four steps; demands analysis, design, construction, and maintenance. This methodology advances higher abstract step from higher lower step using top-down approach from concept definition to construction, which notices the end of a step whenever a step is over. Therefore, each step is exactly divided, and consequently the output is clearly yielded.
Recently, many enterprises have attempted to construct data warehousing systems for decision-support. Data warehouse is an intelligent store of data that can aggregate vast amounts of information. Building DW requires two important development issues:(i) DW for the decision making of business users and (ii) metadata within it. Most DW development methodologies have not considered metadata development; it is necessary to adopt a DW development methodology which develops a DW and its metadata simultaneously. Metadata is a key to success of data warehousing system and is critical for implementing DW. That is, metadata is crucial documentation for a data warehousing system where users should be empowered to meet their own information needs; users need to know what data exists, what it represents, where it is located, and how to access it. Furthermore, metadata is used for extracting data and managing DW. However, metadata has failed because its management has been segregated from the DW development process. Metadata must be integrated with data warehousing systems. Without metadata, the decision support of DW is under the control of technical users. Therefore, integrating data warehouse with its metadata offers a new opportunity to create a more adaptive information system. Therefore, this paper proposes a DW development methodology from a metadata perspective. The proposed methodology consists of five phases: preparatory, requirement analysis, data warehouse (informational database) development, metastore development, and maintenance. To demonstrate the practical usefulness of the methodology, one case is illustrated
Purpose: This paper is to study the methodology of the development stage of the submarine vessel through the QMST/QCG system. Methods: In order to study the methodology for supporting the development stage of the submarine vessel system, the mission and role for QMST were defined, and the timing and detailed plans of the QCG review were established. Results: Through the analysis of the development stage of the ship's weapon system, QMST was formed, and roles were divided for each subdivision, and methods to effectively support the DAPA IPT were specified. In addition, QCG review timing and plans for submarine safety control lists were established. Conclusion: It is expected that the methodology in the development stage discussed in this study will be useful as a reference when supporting the general weapon system development stage in addition to similar equipment.
Many enterprises are interested in using the IS development methodologies as a means of increasing system performance and solving the problems of delayed delivery time, excessive budget, and failure of integrated systems. Even if previous researches showed that the system productivity and quality improvement using the system development methodologies are very poor, we tried to find that the methodologies are meaningful as an innovative means for IS performance. We defined that the IS development methodology as a technical and managerial innovation for IS department. We intended to study the relationship between the implementation process of the IS development methodology divided into four steps and IS performance. A cross-sectional field survey with IS departments of domestic companies was conducted, and we used LISREL 8.12a to perform the structural equation model analysis and hypothesis verification. We found the meaningful relationship between the development methodology and qualitative performance. We reconfirmed that the relationship between the development methodology and quantitative performance is not meaningful as expected, which is the same result with the previous researches. But the qualitative performance affects very strongly to the quantitative performance. As a results, we suggest that IS managers and developers keep the principles of the IS development methodologies to get the quantitative performance through the qualitative performance improvement.
A decrease in the fertility rate leads to a reduction of troops, so the need to efficiently operate the troops is growing. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a system for estimating warship manpower. In this study, system development was performed according to the CBD methodology. The user requirements were defined and the system function that satisfies the requirements was derived. And through the development process, the CBD methodology and the systems engineering process were compared. As a result, similarities were confirmed in the analysis and concept design stages, so the possibility of merging the two processes was suggested.

Estimating optimum hardware capacity of an e-learning system is very important process to grasp reasonable size of designing technique architecture and budget during step of ISP(information strategic planning) and development. It hugely influences cost and quality of the whole project. While investment on information system hardware has been continuously increased, there was no certified hardware capacity estimating method in e-learning system development. A guideline for hardware sizing of information systems was established by Telecommunication Technology Association in 2008. However, the guideline is not appropriate for estimating optimum hardware capacity of an e-learning system because it was designed to provide general standards for estimating hardware capacity of various types of projects. The purpose of this paper is to provide a methodology for estimating optimum hardware capacity in e-learning system development. To develop the methodology, this study, first of all, analyzes two e-learning development projects, in which the guideline was applied to estimate optimum hardware capacity. Then, this study finds out several key factors influencing on hardware capacity. Finally, this study suggests a methodology for estimating optimum hardware capacity of an e-learning system, in which weights for the factors are determined through AHP analysis.
