The purpose of this study was to examine new-silver women's fiber and material property preferences and purchasing behaviors. The survey subjects were 115 new-silver women ranging in age from 50 to 60 years old. This study utilized a questionnaire as a measurement tool. The results of this study were as follows: First, the home ownership rate of the participants in this was 81.4%, and 54.9% of them had a bachelor's degree or higher. Therefore, they turned out to be a new silver generation with higher education and stable income and assets. Second, regarding their purchasing behaviors, it was shown that they purchased the largest amount of clothing for themselves and their spouses, children, and grandchildren at the change of seasons. Third, with regard to their average spending on clothing, when they purchased clothing for themselves, it was shown that they purchased clothing at the price of KRW 500,000 or above for themselves but not for their family members. Fourth, their favorite type of fiber was synthetic fiber, and their favorite material property was heaviness, followed by roughness, stiffness, bulkiness, and glossiness. Moreover, with regard to their favorite functional textile, it was shown that the highest percentage of them preferred vitamin textiles, followed by ocher and scented textiles.

In this study, occupational exposures to man-made mineral fibers (MMMFs) including glass wool, rock wool, and continuous glass filament fibers were determined and evaluated on the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Threshold Limit Value (TLV). A total of 171 personal samples collected from 4 glass wool fiber, 2 rock wool fibers, 4 continuous filament glass fiber products manufacturing and a glass fiber and rock wool insulations using industries, and determined respirable fibers concentrations using the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Method 7400, "B counting rule. The fiber concentrations of samples from workers installing thermal insulations in a MMMF using industry showed the highest value: geometric mean (GM) = 0.73 f/cc and maximum = 2.9 f/cc, 70% of them were above the TLV, 1 f/cc. Workers' exposure level (GM= 0.032 f/cc) in the rock wool manufacturing industries was significantly higher than those of glass wool (GM=0.012 f/cc) and continuous filament glass fibers (GM=0.010 f/cc) manufacturing industries (p<0.01). No samples were more than the TLV in the MMMF manufacturing industries. There was a significant difference among companies in airborne fiber levels.
Unlike synthetic dyes, natural dyes do not affect the human body or create atmosphere pollution that are also mothproof, antibiotic and sterilized. This study examined the changes in dye adsorption properties according to mordant types and mordanting method to qualify trends using sage and rosemary extracts. Dyeability of sage extract is often similar to rosemary extract regardless of dyeing conditions. Dyeing properties of herb colorants on cotton, silk and wool fiber and effect of dyeing conditions on dye uptake were also compared. Dyed fabric showed a yellowish color and the dyeing affinity was somewhat good with rosemary extract. The surface color of the dyed fabrics was darkened by mordant treatment. The K/S value of herb colorants of protein fiber was higher than cellulose fiber. The concentration of mordant having the highest dyeing affinity was different from the mordant type. Regardless of the type of fiber, the K/S value of premordanting was the highest in mordanting method, and the K/S value of simultaneous mordanting indicated no noticeable mordant effect. The fastness of washing of silk fabric was reduced the most by mordant treatment. The lightfastness was reduced in Al mordant treatment regardless of the type of fiber. The lightfastness of wool increased somewhat by mordant treatment.
The purpose of this study was to survey the clothing behavior, care and the fiber preferences of multi-cultural families living in Korea. The data was collected using questionnaire surveys based on pre-tests, and a main survey conducted in Seoul, Gyeonggi Province and Chungcheong Province. The 258 participants came from 151 multi-cultural families and 107 Korean families. The results of this study were as follows: First, Filipinos owned more clothes than the Chinese and bought clothes more frequently. The Filipinos spent 10,000~30,000 Korean won on all types of clothing. Each time, the Chinese spent more money when purchasing jackets. Second, when health was the greatest concern for underclothes, they chose cotton fiber as their preferred fiber. When beauty was of greatest concern for blouses they chose cotton. When beauty was of greatest concern for skirts and jackets they chose natural fibers such as silk, wool or linen. Filipinos preferred synthetic fibers because they are easy to care for, and the Chinese preferred natural fibers due to their beauty, especially for pants. Third, multi-cultural families laundered at home using only a washing machine. All fibers were laundered together into the washer without any sorting. This study can contribute to providing basic data for an understanding of the clothing behavior and laundry styles of multi-cultural families which may be useful data in the apparel market in Korea given the relative and direct changes relevant to various clothing cultures.
Hollow filament yarns provide better warmth to the touch, lighter in weight, increased opacity, and subtle luster compared to the regular synthetic filament yarns. However, luster properties of textile fibers or fabrics are often difficult to characterize, partly due to the fineness of the surface texture, the anisotropic nature of the weave structure, the complexity of the fiber array comprising a yarn, and the fiber structure itself. In this study, the fabric surface luster image was analyzed using image analysis methods after image acquisition. The hollow filament fiber was modeled using a three-dimensional modeling software. It was then ray-traced for comparing the virtual luster images of the hollow fiber and the regular fiber models based on shading models including photon mapping. The luster object size of the actual hollow filament fabric was smaller than that of the regular filament fabric. The shape of the luster object of the hollow filament fabric was dual peak type while that of the regular filament was single.
The Application of Steel Fiber Shotcrete in tunneling construction has become part of tunneling practice at least since the 1970s because of its high bending and tensile properties. Over the past 3 decades, researcher from all over the world have been significantly developing the associated technologies for improved performance of SFRS. But still it has some major drawbacks in terms of durability, damage of pumping hose, wastage due to rebound concrete, corrosion and it costs high. To overcome this situation researcher has to look for some alternative material. Therefore, this part study deals with the three types of fiber in order to find good alternative for steel fiber. Polyamide and Polypropylene fiber were used in this study with 0.6, 0.5% mixing ratio. To evaluate its fresh and harden properties air content, slump, compressive, split tensile and bending strength were measured. After comparing the results of all three types of fiber reinforced concrete with its different mixing proportion this study propose that polyamide fiber with addition ratio of 0.6 % for field use.
The textile fabric have the functions of sanitation, decoration, wearing style and washing in the practical use. Among various texitle fiber, silk has less utilities than synthetic fiber in practical use although silk has good benefits of the high quality. Thus no textile fiber, neither natural nor synthetic, has all the functions. In this sence, many blend yarns have been improved various functions of fabric. However, this has been disturbed with the problem of dyeing, especially in the case of blend fabric of silk. In this study, we dyed silk/PET blend fabric in one step useing one bath dyeing method by acid dyes/disperse dyes. The results of the experiments can be summarized as follows; 1) Yellow index of silk fabric treated at $130^{\circ}C$ increased about 7.8 (color difference 4.5 NBS) and whiteness decrease about 5%. 2) Both elongation and tensile strength of silk fabric treated at $130^{\circ}C$ of pH 5-6 decreased about 10% and tensile strength of silk spun yarn treated at $60^{\circ}C$ of pH 10 have little changed. 3) While silk/PET blend frbric dyeing, silk soiling of disperse dyes causes from difference of dyeing rate and degree of silk soiling with dyes. 4) Fastness and soiling of silk/PET blend fabric dyed by one bath dyeing method of acid dyes/disperse dyes was same as two bath dyeing method.
To develop the multi-channel fiber-optic sensor array system, two-channel TDM(Time Division Multiplexing) fiber-optic sensor array was constructed and characterized. The sensor array topology was Mach-Zehender ladder type and PMDI(Phase-Matched Differential Interferometer) technique was used to exploit the efficiency of the array signal processing. By using a synthetic heterodyne demodulation technique, outputs of the two channels were monitored simultaneously. The sensitivities of channel #1 and #2 were measured ${\sim}60{\mu}rad/\sqrt{Hz}$ and ${\sim}80{\mu}rad/\sqrt{Hz}$, respectively. Crosstalk of sensors in the array was found to be approximately -36dB. Based on the results, we could conclude that TDM Mach-Zehnder ladder type sensor array can be used to detect the acoustic signal with stability and efficiency of the sensor array.

Ready-mixed shotcrete that mixed with high quality aggregate and can improve construction quality is produced in a dry mortar plant and transported to construction sites. Because of using aggregate that produced in a special plant, Ready-mixed shotcrete has many advantages : good grain-size distribution, minimum stone powder, high quality and standardization material, etc. In this basic study different from the existing study that limited to additive and accelerator, the improvement of aggregate quality was tried to upgrade the shotcrete performance. The investigation about the construction conditions of shotcrete was performed and the result of an opinion poll was analyzed for a good grasp of the problems in domestic shotcrete quality. Pilot Plant Test was also performed to minimize the material segregation in plant manufacturing process. In additions, the field test was performed to find the optimum contents of synthetic fiber, appearing the same flexible toughness with that of steel fiber, and to find the optimum replacement ratio of blast furnace slag.

Fiber is an important ingredient in strain-hardening cementitious composite (SHCC), which can control fracture of cementitious composite by bridging action. The properties of reinforcing fiber, as tensile strength, aspect ratio and elastic modulus, have great effect on the fracture behavior of SHCC. To apply SHCC to structural member, SHCC must have economical efficiency and workability as well as own excellent tensile performance. For these purposes, four-point bending and direct tensile tests on SHCC with only hybrid synthetic fibers, total fiber volume fraction, $V_f$, is 1.5%, are carried out. The research emphasis is on the mechanical properties of SHCC made in Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Polyethylene (PE) fibers, and how this affects the composite property, and ultimately its strain-hardening performance. Also, effect of hybrid type and water-cement ratio on the behavior of SHCC was evaluated in this paper.
