  • Line-start motor has ability to start itself without using other methods, so, it is important to predict starting performance accurately. In this paper, the starting characteristics of single-phase capacitor-start, capacitor-run line-start motor was calculated by combination of d-q axis voltage equations and mechanical dynamic equations. D-q axis inductances of this machine varied with current phase angle and amplitude are considered. The validity of analysis method verified by comparing to test results.

  • This paper deals with a comparison between the secondary Halbach array and conventional array of permanent magnets(PMs) in linear synchronous motor(LSM). The finite element method(FEM) is employed for characteristic analysis of the machine. Two types of PMLSM are analyzed and compared, with reference to the following parameters as variables: magnetic field, detent force, static thrust and thrust/secondary weight ratio.

  • Transient Stability of a power systems is its ability to maintain synchronous operation of machine when subjected to a large disturbance. This paper presents a new methodology for speed-up transient stability evaluation in SIME. SIME is a hybrid direct method including time simulation to enhance flexibility. It is difficult to apply the classical SIME to stable cases. To solve this problem, we propose the improved SIME, applicable to stable cases as well as unstable cases. For more fast screening, a reduced order equivalent generator is used in the first step process

  • 본 논문에서는 회전자 인버터 내장형 동기 전동기에 고주파 신호 주입 센서리스 알고리즘을 적용하는 방법을 제안한다. 고주파 신호주입 센서리스는 자기적인 돌극성을 활용하여 자속축을 찾기 때문에, 자기적인 돌극성이 뚜렷하지 않은 회전자 인버터 내장형 동기 전동기에서는 이를 적용할 수 없는 문제가 존재 한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 회전자 인버터를 이용하여 가상의 돌극성을 생성하고, 이 가상의 돌극성을 이용한 고주파 신호주입 센서리스 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 실험을 통하여 검증되었으며, 추가적인 손실이나 하드웨어 없이 센서리스 운전이 가능함을 확인하였다.

Recursive Design of Nonlinear Disturbance Attenuation Control for STATCOM

  • In this paper, a nonlinear robust control approach is applied to design a controller for the Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM). A robust control dynamic model of STATCOM in a one-machine, infinite-bus system is established with consideration of the torque disturbance acting on the rotating shaft of the generator set and the disturbance to the output voltage of STATCOM. A novel recursive approach is utilized to construct the energy storage function of the system such that the solution to the disturbance attenuation control problem is acquired, which avoids the difficulty involved in solving the Hamilton-Jacobi-Issacs (HJI) inequality. Sequentially, the nonlinear disturbance attenuation control strategy of STATCOM is obtained. Simulation results demonstrate that STATCOM with the proposed controller can more effectively improve the voltage stability, damp the oscillation, and enhance the transient stability of power systems compared to the conventional PI+PSS controller.

  • The major deisng parameters that are considered in this paper are: 1) EMF according to width of field coil. 2) EMF according to magnetic shield length. Because of superconducting generator (SG) is actually and air cored machine with its rotor iron and stator iron teeth having been removed. In this case, the desing of the SG must be based on the 3D analysis of the magnetic field. This study presents an effective armature winding type with 3D FEM(Finite Element Method), and compares analyzed and measured results.

  • Racetrack coils are used in many areas of superconductivity applications such as generators, motors, maglev, wiggler magnets and so on. Especially now a days a few advanced nations including U.S., Japan are developing high temperature superconducting(HTS) wire which has better performance than low temperature superconducting(LTS) wire. Most of HTS wires such as BSCCO-2223 are manufactured with PIT(Power In Tube) process, so the shape of the wire looks like tape different from LTS wire with round cross-sectional appearance like normal conductors. Generally HTS racetrack coils are composed of a few partial double-pancake colis and then the double-pancakes are jointed each other according to their applications.

  • The adaptation to vector control theory is so generalized that it is widely used for implementing the high-performance of AC machine. Nowadays, One-Chip microprocessors or DSP chips are being well-used to implement Vector Control algorithm. DSP Chip have less flexibility for memory decoding and I/O rather than One-Chip microprocessor so that is requires more additional circuit and high cost. And the past One-Chip micro processors have difficult of implementation the complex algorithm because of small memory capacity and low arithmetic performance. Therefore we implemented the vector control algorithm of PMSM(Permanent Magnetic Synchronous Motors) using 80296SA form intel , which have many features as 6M memory space, 500MHz clock frequency, including memory decoding circuit and general I/O, Special I/O(EPA, Interrupt controller, Timer/Count, PWM generator) which is proper controller for the complex algorithm or operation program requiring so much memory capacity, So in this paper we fully digitized the vector control of PMSM included SVPWM Voltage controller using the intel 80296SA

  • The purpose of this paper is to explain techniques achieved while developing a transient stability program which is suitable to Korean power system. It concentrates on the development of a synchronous machine model, exciter models and turbine-governor models used in large-scale power system stability analysis. These proposed models enhance the performance of the developing program. This developing program has been tested with the KEPCO system, and the simulation results obtained from the program are compared to those of commercial programs.

  • In this paper, a new speed sensorless control based on an adaptive sliding mode observer is proposed lot the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor(IPMSM) drives. With using voltage equation only, the adaptive sliding mode observer was investigated. Since the parameter of the dynamic equation such as machine inertia or viscosity friction coefficient are not well known and these values can be easily changed during normal operation, there are many restrictions in the actual implementation. The proposed adaptive sliding mode observer applied to overcome the problem caused by using the dynamic equation. Furthermore, the Lyapunov function is used to prove the system stability included speed estimate and speed control. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is confirmed by the experiments.
