Events Ordering in Optimistic Distributed Simulation of DEVS Models (DEVS 모델의 낙관적 분산 시뮬레이션을 위한 사건 정렬 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a new events ordering mechanism for the optimistic distributed simulation of DEVS models. To simulate DEVS models in a distributed environment, a synchronization protocol is required for correct simulation. Time Warp is the most well-known optimistic synchronization protocol for distributed simulation. However, employing the Time Warp protocol in distributed simulation of DEVS models incurs events ordering problem due to the semantic difference between Time Warp and DEVS, Thus, to resolve such semantic difference, we devise the time-and-priority-stamp and $\varepsilon$ -delay schemes. The proposed schemes can order simultaneous events correctly in Time Warp-based distributed simulation of DEVS models.Time Warp and DEVS, Thus, to resolve such semantic difference, we devise the time-and-priority-stamp and $\varepsilon$ -delay schemes.   • The aim of synchronization of production and transportation planning in the supply chain is to increase the flexibility and to decrease various costs. The suggested model in this study synchronizes the timing to supply to a downstream manufacturer directly after production and to be consumed in a downstream manufacturer right after receipt. This model deals with the frequent delivery in small amount which is a new trend of the transportation not governed the economy of scale principle. Moreover, various types of transportation governed by the economy of scale principle or not are considered. Then, the two-phase mathematical model is suggested to obtain optimal job sequence and production quantity for each tasks. But, it is difficult to gain optimal solutions if there is a transportation governed by the economy of scale principle in the supply chain, or the size of the problem is increased. Thus, heuristic algorithms based on simulated annealing and genetic algorithm are suggested to find good solutions in the reasonable time.

  • In this paper, the architecture of a dataflow logic solving processor for programmable logic controller is proposed. As the proposed DFLSP (dataflow logic solving processor) is designed based on the dataflow architecture, it has inherently concurrent processing and data synchronization capabilities. The proposed DFLSP is adequate for high speed programmable logic controllers and gets rid of data synchronization problem in hardware level. The performance of the proposed DFLSP is analyzed using computer simulations and prototype hardware. With single processing element, the logic solving time is 144 usec per 1K steps of logic program and with eight processing elements, the logic solving time is 23 usec per 1K steps of logic program with reasonable assumptions.

  • With the rapidly increasing complexity of decision-marking or system development in the fields of industry, management, etc., modelling techniques using simulation has become more highlighted. Particularly, the advent of parallel computer systems not only has opened a new horizon of parallel simulation, but also has greatly contributed to the speed-up of the execution of simulation. The implementation of parallel simulation, however, is not a easy job for those who accustomed to the existing computer systems. And it is also necessarily confronted with the problem of synchronization conflict in the process. Thus, how to allow a wider community of users to gain access to parallel simulation while solving synchronization conflicts has become an important issue in simulation study. As a method to solve these problems, this paper is primarily concerned with the implementation of GPSS which is a generally used simulation language for discrete event simulation, onto a parallel computer using C-LINDA. For that, this paper, is to suggest a model and algorithm and to experiment it using a case.

  • The fundamental reason why inheritance anomaly occurs is that for a concurrent object, when synchronization code is not properly separated from the method code, the extension of code to produce a derived class may force the change of both the synchronization code and the method code in the super class, and inheritance is integrated inheritance in a simple and satisfactory way within a concurrent object-oriented language. The main emphasis on how to avoid or minimize inheritance anomaly. Therefore, in this paper we propose a new model, object model, and will minimizes the problem of inheritance anomaly found in concurrent object-oriented programming languages using Behavior Equation.

  • In manufacturing industries, one of the critical issues is to synchronize the sequence of production operations with materials needed at each operation to improve productivity. In order to solve this synchronization problem. We develop a code system entitled 'Work-Order-Number' for automated storage/retrieval systems(AS/RS) in this paper. The Work-Order-Number is designed for the purpose of integrating the engineering information. material handling, production and operations scheduling, point of production, and AS/RS systems. This paper implemented the Work-Order-Number in the electric motor manufacturing. The results of the implementation showed the reduction of the number of workers in material handling and cost-loss due lo a late delivery.

  • Electric vehicles and robots are real-time distributed control systems composed of multiple drive subsystems using micro controller units. Each control subsystem should be modular, compact, power saving, interoperable and fault tolerable in order to be incorporated into the networked real-time distributed control system. Under the networked real-time distributed control the synchronization problem can be occurred to the position and orientation tracking control due to the load variance, mismatch and time delay between the multiple drive subsystems. This paper suggests two types of position synchronization control of the single link manipulators. One of them is composed of cross controller, Kalman filter and disturbance observer, and the other uses the generation of target trajectories to minimize the gradient vector of the scalar function which is composed of the sum of square errors between the reference input vector and the output vectors. The availability of the proposed control schemes is shown through the control experiments.

  • In this paper, a synchronization control technique of dual-servo motor driven press system is proposed. An independent cascade PID control technique has been applied to the conventional press system for advancement of control stability. However, it is not easy to reduce synchronous error using the independent cascade PID control technique when some different load disturbances are involved in each motor. The eccentric error of the slide caused by the problem degrade the control performance of the BDC(Bottom Dead Center). In order to achieve reduction of the synchronous error between two servo motors and accurate position control simultaneously, a new control scheme comprised with cascade PID control loop and cross-coupling loop is proposed. In simulation using Matlab SIMULINK, the AC servo system is designed. The control performance of proposed technique is compared with conventional control technique to the model of AC servo system. Also, the sub-scale model of dual-servo motor driven press system which can replicate the slide motion is constructed for experimental verification for the performance of the proposed control technique. The cross-coupling control technique reveals more precise and stable performances in the position and synchronization controls.

Preamble Design for OFDM-based WLAM Systems with Multiple Transmit/Receive Antennas (다중 안테나 OFDM 기반 차세대 무선 LAN 시스템의 프리엠블 구조 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a preamble structure and synchronization/channel estimation methods for OFDM-based multiple antenna WLAN systems that have 200Mbps transmit rate. With the proposed preamble structure, multiple antenna WLAN systems are backward-compatible with IEEE 802.11a systems which use the same 5㎓ band and synchronization performance is better than that of single antenna OFDM systems. For channel estimation, the preamble overhead is small and performance degradation by timing synchronization error that causes the critical problem of conventional comb-type multiple antenna channel estimation method also can be minimized by frequency domain phase recovery. Synchronizer and channel estimator for proposed preamble structure are implemented and verified using Verilog HDL. For the system with 4 transmit antennas and 4 receive antennas, about 150K gates are needed for synchronizer and 12K gates for channel estimator.

A Method of Frame Synchronization for Stereoscopic 3D Video (스테레오스코픽 3D 동영상을 위한 동기화 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a method of frame synchronization for stereoscopic 3D video to solve the viewing problem caused by synchronization errors between a left video and a right video using the temporal frame difference image depending on the movement of objects. Firstly, we compute two temporal frame difference images from the left video and the right video which are corrected the vertical parallax between two videos using rectification, and calculate two horizontal projection profiles of two temporal frame difference images. Then, we find a pair of synchronized frames of the two videos by measuring the mean of absolute difference (MAD) of two horizontal projection profiles. Experimental results show that the proposed method can be used for stereoscopic 3D video, and is robust against Gaussian noise and video compression by H.264/AVC.
