  • Mobile facility management system is a on-site management tool to collect and update various facility data. But there is a chance to make a data inconsistency between lot of concurrent workers. And facility management system requires to keep records about work log within a certain period of time. This paper describes the design and implementation of mobile facility management system, which provide efficient data synchronization mechanism using version managent technique on large facility data in concurrent work environment. And proposed system is able to keep workers update log persistently.

Synchronous 2D/3D Switching System for Service-Compatible 3DTV Broadcasting

  • This paper proposes a new broadcasting system for the service-compatible 3DTV in which the 3D service can coexist with the conventional digital TV broadcast. In the proposed system, the commercial 3DTV service can be implemented via the existing DTV channel without utilizing the dedicated 3DTV system. This 2D/3D system interworks with the conventional system and can switch to 2D or 3D service according to the broadcast programming and schedule. The system also provides a mechanism that can prevent the synchronization mismatch between left and right video streams and between the stream and the associated signaling in the 2D/3D transition periods. The picture quality measurements are carried out based on the ITU-R recommended test to check the level of quality of service provided by the proposed scheme. The conformity tests are also performed with the conventional channel and the receiver for the DTV system to confirm the feasibility of the proposed one for the commercial service.

  • Intensive studies have been made in the area of VOD server. Multimedia files in the VOD sever are characterized with the large volume of data, the requirements of synchronization and real-time playback of streams. The basic goal of the study is to find an efficient mechanism to allow maximum number of users under the limited resources such as Bu11er size and disk bandwidth. we propose a efficient user-grouping policy for multi-casting services with dynamic monitoring and management of VOD sever resources. Simulation results show that the rate of buffer usage and QOS change of proposed scheme are about 23% performance improved than that of traditional methods. This implies that our method can allow much more users for given resources.

  • The smooth handoff supported by the route optimization extension to the mobile IP standard protocol should support a packet buffering mechanism at the base station (BS), in order to reduce the degradation in TCP performance caused by packet losses within mobile network environments. The purpose of packet buffering at the BS is to recover the packets dropped during intersubnetwork handoff by forwarding the packets buffered at the previous BS to the new BS. However, when the mobile host moves to a congested BS within a new foreign subnetwork, the buffered packets forwarded by the previous BS are likely to be dropped. This subsequently causes global synchronization to occur, resulting in the degradation of the wireless link in the congested BS, due to the increased congestion caused by the forwarded burst packets. Thus, in this paper, we propose an implicit priority forwarding (IPF) packet buffering scheme as a solution to this problem within mobile IP based networks. In the proposed IPF method, the previous BS implicitly marks the priority packets being used for inter-subnetwork handoff. Moreover, the proposed modified random early detection (M-RED) buffer at the new congested BS guarantees some degree of reliability to the priority packets. The simulation results show that the proposed IPF packet buffering scheme increases the wireless link utilization and, thus, it enhances the TCP throughput performance in the context of various intersubnetwork handoff cases.

  • This paper is about the implementation of low cost WiMAX remote radio head system with Ethernet instead of optical link. We deployed a simplified frame structure on the data frames transmitted between a basestation and remote radio heads in order to maximize Ethernet link utilization which shows relatively lower maximum throughput compared to that of optical links. In addition, a synchronization mechanism was applied on a basestation and remote radio heads placed on remote sites in order for simultaneous data transmission and reception in all remote radio heads which are essential for proper communication with terminals. These schemes are implemented with FPGA. The results of experiment with a WiMAX Femtocell show that our remote radio head systems efficiently deliver radio frames with proper timing.

  • Our Digital Carousel enables user to share media objects through media synchronization mechanism. We implemented the Digital Carousel so that the users participated in collaborative work may refer shared media or error objects as the same view to others. This paper explains the design and implementation of the EC_DXS(Error Control in Digital Carousel System). EC_DCS is a system that is suitable for detecting sharing and recovering software error based on multimedia CSCW(Computer Supportes Cooperated Work). With error sharing system, a group cooperating users can share me. applications. From the perspective of multimedia collaborative environment, an error application becomes another interactive presentation error is shared with participant engaged in a cooperative work.

In this paper, we discuss a method for increasing reliability through fault tolerance. We describe the design and implementation of the ER running on distributed multimedia environment. ER is a system which is able to recover automatically a software error based on distributed multimedia. This paper explains a performance analysis of an error recovery system running on distributed multimedia environment using the rule-based DEVS modeling and simulation techniques. In DEVS, a system has a time base, inputs, states, outputs, and functions.

  • Visible light communication (VLC) is a short range optical communication technology using light emitting diodes. In this paper, we implement variable pulse position modulation (VPPM) defined in the IEEE 802.15.7 standard with a Cortex-M processor, which is a new modulation scheme for VLC providing a dimming control mechanism for flicker-free optical communication. The synchronization procedure between the transmitter and receiver is not defined clearly in the VPPM standard. In order to synchronize the transmitter and receiver easily, two overhead bits are used including one start bit and one stop bit modulated by on-off keying (OOK). Experimental results under various environmental conditions show that the proposed VPPM can support a seamless 100 Kbps data rate with 10 levels in the dimming control.

  • Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) are introduced as an enabling technology in tele-health for patient monitoring. Designing an efficient Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is the main challenge in WBANs because of their various applications and strict requirements such as low level of energy consumption, low transmission delay, the wide range of data rates and prioritizing emergency data. In this paper, we propose a new MAC protocol to provide different requirements of WBANs targeted for medical applications. The proposed MAC provides an efficient emergency response mechanism by considering the correlation between medical signals. It also reduces the power consumption of nodes by minimizing contention access, reducing the probability of the collision and using an efficient synchronization algorithm. In addition, the proposed MAC protocol increases the data rate of the nodes by allocating the resources according to the condition of the network. Analytical and simulation results show that the proposed MAC protocol outperforms IEEE 802.15.4 MAC protocol in terms of power consumption level as well as the average response delay. Also, the comparison results of the proposed MAC with IEEE 802.15.6 MAC protocol show a tradeoff between average response delay and medical data rate.

  • In this paper, we suggest a network game system that can support video game based on multi-platform for multi-user video game, Latency occurring from the load fluctuation in realtime network game is overcomed by using an initial delay buffering scheme on client, when a real-fire game is played, and shows that stable play for a game is achieved as the result of the scheme. Also, We suggest a retransmission algorithm based on the history of game commands, and this Algorithm supplement shortcomings for packet loss and pocket error on UDP communication.
