There are many types of linguistical system generally being used in modern society and it is essential to understand the primary components comprising the linguistical system when communication by the language system. In the linguistics point of view, the sign system has been developed from the simple linguistic symbols used by our ancestors in the ancient period, those visual linguistic sign can be so symbolize and express simply the significant meaning of it that people can understand and communicate with it so fast and easily. Therefore, the purpose of this report is how the sign system can be convenient, handy, safe, comfortable, and confusion-proof to the occupants as the public media; easily understandable to the individual by the development and constitution of effectual signage system concerning guidance, direction and safeguards in thee visual linguistics point of view. Consequently, the sign system have been studied based upon the theory of visual perception considering the cognitive and sociopsychological affects of user.

This study aimed to classify high school girls' frontal body shapes into a few representative types and to give each type a name to symbolize its typical shape clearly. Subjects consisted of 205 high school girls aged 15 through 17 years attending high schools in Kwangju. 55 anthropometric and 29 photographic measurements were taken from each subject. The data were reduced to a few factors and the main factors composing the frontal body shapes were classified into 3 clusters. as the results the frontal body shapes of the high school girls were classified into H, X, Y types.

Human frequently communicate non-linguistic information with gesture. So, we must develop efficient and fast gesture recognition algorithms for more natural human-computer interaction. However, it is difficult to recognize gesture automatically because human's body is three dimensional object with very complex structure. In this paper, we suggest a method which is able to detect key frames and frame changes, and to classify image sequence into some gesture groups. Gesture is classifiable according to moving part of body. First, we detect some frames that motion areas are changed abruptly and save those frames as key frames, and then use the frames to classify sequences. We symbolize each image of classified sequence using Principal Component Analysis(PCA) and clustering algorithm since it is better to use fewer components for representation of gestures. Symbols are used as the input symbols for the Hidden Markov Model(HMM) and recognized as a gesture with probability calculation.

This study is to analyze the geometrical composition system for the plan of S. Pietro by Michelangelo. In the result of study, the plan is based on the geometrical elements of circle square cross, and shaped to symbolize the Universe which consists of the Heaven the Earth the Man. The plan is constituted of the conception of composition into hierarchy and repetition intersecting 45 degree the same sized square with inscribed square in a circle. Such the geometrical composition system can be found out a large number of example to the geometrical composition of architecture and city planning from Vitruvius to Bramante and Da Vinci. This plan is disposed in balance as the regularly proportional system of 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, which is formed the principal space. And the interior space is constituted of the organic space system, expanding to the direction of horizontal, vertical(ascension), development for primary space and secondary space with center in the geometric composition system of altar.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how future images are embodied in contemporary fashion design. To find out future images expressed in contemporary fashion design, this paper characterized the future society as information society, network society, pluralistic society, and global village. Cyber design and techno-style expressed through metal or lustrous material which is influenced by information symbolize future image. Also, minimalism which is characterized as simplicity and purity affects the contemporary fashion design. The network society which affets t the horizontal and functional social system diminishes the meaning of socio-economic status. Therefore, street fashion has diffused to high fashion, and the formal wear has tendency to be changed into casual wear. In addition, the meaning of status symbol in contemporary fashion design become decreased. The pluralistic society affects to search for one's own personality and identity. Also, contemporary fashion design is influenced by post-modernism and deconstructionism. In order words, genderless, ageles, seasonless, and infra fashion appeared. The global village emphasizes extension of universality in life style and search for world quality. so, ethnic fashions appear frequently in contemporary fashion design. Also, the effects of Korean traditional costume to contemporary fashion design has increased.

The Soubise Mansin which construction ended in the latter half of 1730s has several rooms which symbolize Rococo which appeared in the 18 century. The work of the Soubis Mansion done by an architect, Boffrand , is a significant work in which he had introduced a new style of building , Rococo, based on a style of Regency, thereby showing a big leaf in that kind of art. In other words, with the elements already established in the days of Regency-white wood panel, gold molding, mirror technique, etc. -and the characteristics of unprecedent, outstanding spatial forms and Rococo decoration introduced. Rococo had enjoyed its peak of full flourish within the moderation of being never excessively magnificent, beautiful, and dignified. It is a remarkable thing that a model of such perfect ideal beauty was suggested even in the begining state of Rococo and it is deemed that such a point resulted in such influence on other places like the Versalilles Palace, etc.

Folk Remedies symbolize the medical art of the common people, and contain their special emotion and colloquial expressions. They are medical treatments in which the medical history and the tradition and the soul of a people are incorporated. They are handed down in various ways. This study introduces some of folk remedies. For example, powder of tigers' bones heals neuralgia. Rice wine brewing up with ginger is effective in a cold. Water boiling with safflower does good in neuralgia. Pasting herba houttuyniae takes effect in skin disease. To Decoct and drink old hardy orange is effective in urticaria. Water boiling with fructus corni alleviates a fever. Camellia oil or rhizoma cnidii or iris is used for the extermination of vermin and the antiseptic. In the end, the practical application of these remedies to the resources of industry and education will be discussed.

The purpose of this study contains evaluation of techno-cyber fashion, specifically in the area of dancing costume which symbolize the stage performing art of techno-cyber fashion's formative elements. The way of study is to make foundation with the theory and picture backgrounds to analyze the fashion trends and finally produce symbolic dance costume which applies modern dance stage costume design to techno-cyber elements. The 'Adieu 1999' is the modern dance work contains social mood in retrospect of 20 century and prepare 21 century. To make design of dance costume, apply the simple geometrical pattern design which utilize techno-cyber element like hi-tech fabrics, see-through and image of band and finally produce costume both 20 and 21 century.

The Study is to find out the thought of costume of the people who advocated the Wejung-chunksa. Conclusions are described as follows 1. The action to boycott western goods was the early response in the Wejung -chuksa Thought. The reason were in fear of ruin in chosun industry and worry about the westernizing the Korean. 2. The people of the Wejung-chuksa had the conservative character in order to maintain the traditional public order and the costume. They thought that costume have a role to distinguish between man and woman , the rich and the poor and so on. Therefore acceptance the wastern constume style meant that the Korean became a savage. So that they rejected the King's order about the dress-system reformation in 1884, 1895. That pointed that their ultimate purpose was to keep the traditional rule. 3. In appearance the purpose of the short-hair law was good for health. But it meant to destory the traditional order and to symbolize the civilization . Especially the short -hair in the people of Wejung-chuksa meant the destruction of the traditional rule and casting away the courtesy. Therefore they wanted to keep the value of the traditional costume.

This paper is the result of research about what imply the symbolic significance of the shamna's costume in Siberia and Central Asia by using plates, medias and exhibitions in JNME. The reselts of the present study are summarized as follows; 1) The researcher define the shamanism as incantation, religious phenomenon centering arround shaman who communicate with the existence of preternatualness by possession or trance. 2) Siberia and Central Asia's shamans are comunicated with the existence of preter naturalness by trance. 3) In Siberia and Central Asia, the shaman's costumes is presented in a shaman ritual are caps, jakets, ornaments, stick and shoes. They symbolize spiritual world, stupendous shaman and powerful animal. 4) A significant symbolic meaning of shaman's costumes is that they change shaman to the existence of preternatualness.
