The purpose of this study is to suggest the way of reformation of the korean policeman's uniform through the precise investigation and analysis both at home and abroad. The domestic investigation was carried out through the research into the concerned documents on how to emprove the policeman's uniform, the investigation into the focused group interview not only for the policeman but also for policeman's uniform, the analysis on the domestic policeman's service in general and the similar uniforms inside the country. The overseas-research was accomplished by visiting six different countries such as United Kingom, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany and Japan while interviewing and analyzing on their own uniforms respectively. The result of thes survey indicates that Korean Policeman's Uniform is comparatively lacking in dignity, functionability, uniformity and symbolic representation of Korea. In conclusion, this study suggests the way how to improve Korean Policeman's Uniform as follows : 1. To pursue the simplification and the uniformity 2. To give the functionability and flexibility by seasons and functions. 3. To inspire the symbolic character and the dignity of policeman's own.
In this paper, we present a overview of content-based image retrieval (CBIR) systems: its results and its problems. We propose our CBIR system currently based on color and texture. From the CBIR systems. we discuss the way to add semantic values in image retrieval systems. There are 3 ways for adding them: concept definition, machine learning and man-machine interaction. Along with this we introduce our preliminary results and discuss them in the goal of reaching semantic retrieval. Different result representation schemes are presented. At last, we present our work to build a complete annotated image database and our image annotaion program.

The queue theory is based on the assumption that most system are normally assigned to stay under steady state. Therefore, the initial problem can be represented by a symbolic model but such a representation does not permit analysis of all the interesting alternatives. When the solution to the problem is thus restricted to a particular subclass of available alternatives, the symbolic model can be solved by mathematics to deduce which alternative is optimal. However, when be consider slightly more complicated alternatives, the analytic procedures become interactable. The purpose of this study is to show how a simulation model enable us to handle the more complicated system after examining the characteristics of the complications that negate more complicated system. Then construct a simulation model and compare the solution of simulation models with analytic methods.
Comparative studies on mathematical modeling cognition feature were carried out between 15 excellent high school third-grade science students (excellent students for short) and 15 normal ones (normal students for short) in China by utilizing protocol analysis and expert-novice comparison methods and our conclusions have been drawn as below. 1. In the style, span and method of mathematical modeling problem representation, both excellent and normal students adopted symbolic and methodological representation style. However, excellent students use mechanical representation style more often. Excellent students tend to utilize multiple-representation while normal students tend to utilize simplicity representation. Excellent students incline to make use of circular representation while normal students incline to make use of one-way representation. 2. In mathematical modeling strategy use, excellent students tend to tend to use equilibrium assumption strategy while normal students tend to use accurate assumption strategy. Excellent students tend to use sample analog construction strategy while normal students tend to use real-time generation construction strategy. Excellent students tend to use immediate self-monitoring strategy while normal students tend to use review-monitoring strategy. Excellent students tend to use theoretical deduction and intuitive judgment testing strategy while normal students tend to use data testing strategy. Excellent students tend to use assumption adjustment and modeling adjustment strategy while normal students tend to use model solving adjustment strategy. 3. In the thinking, result and efficiency of mathematical modeling, excellent students give brief oral presentations of mathematical modeling, express themselves more logically, analyze problems deeply and thoroughly, have multiple, quick and flexible thinking and the utilization of mathematical modeling method is shown by inspiring inquiry, more correct results and high thinking efficiency while normal students give complicated protocol material, express themselves illogically, analyze problems superficially and obscurely, have simple, slow and rigid thinking and the utilization of mathematical modeling method is shown by blind inquiry, more fixed and inaccurate thinking and low thinking efficiency.
This researcher has sorted out the development process of death aesthetics contained in human art through advanced research. This research is a follow-up study of related research, which studies the aesthetic meaning of death in Alexander McQueen's fashion works. This study first classifies the aesthetic characteristics of death, and then analyzes and sorts out the aesthetics of death in Alexander McQueen's clothing works based on this. The results of this study are as follows: first, the aesthetic manifestations of death are divided into three categories: reproducibility, symbolic and religious. Among them, the representation of reproducibility includes the representation of real objects and the representation of virtual objects, and the symbolic performance includes two types of external performance and internal performance. Second, in Alexander McQueen's works, the reproducibility of death was mainly reflected by virtual stage scenes and costumes. Thirdly, the symbolic death is not only reflected in the skeletons and blood etc. directly related to the death of the body, but also in the various emotions and psychological states caused by the death. Fourth, the religious nature of death was represented in Alexander McQueen's works through such representative things as crosses and religious stories.

This study examined how the tradition and culture based on the historical experience of the region are regenerated on the making regional identity and symbolic representation in Kurim-ri, Youngam. Kurim has represented the most typical community of the aristocratic class through Daedong-gae of 400 years. But, since 1970's Kurim has undergone a rapid change in regional identity in Kurim ; from the beginning of the spot of Wangin festival to the village of earthenware, the village of pottery culture heritage most recently. The process of history-making around Wangin in Kurim was connected with the strategy of the pottery culture village-making centering around the Youngam Pottery Culture Center. These projects ultimately were resulted in expression the regional identity, 'Kurim of Wang-in'. The regional tradition of Daedong-gae and Wangin in Kurim was linked together solidly through the Wangin festival procedures. And the excavation of a kiln site in Kurim which was going on with the process of history-making at the same time around Wangin in Kurim provided the cultural episode on related 'earthenware' with an archeological foundation. As a consequence of these, the cultural space, the Young-am Pottery Culture Center has came to establish in Kurim finally. However, recently the Kurim of Wangin and Daedong-gae which was representative of regional identity in Kurim is bringing Dosun who was distorted and estranged during the history-making focused on Wangin in Kurim. Now, there are some cultural issues in Kurim ; an authentical settlement of the Youngam Pottery Culture Center in Kurim and how Wangin and Dosun is linked together into the cultural strategy of 'the traditional village, Kurim'.
Since the invention of the integrated circuit (IC) in 1950s, semiconductor technology has undergone dramatic development up to these days. A complete semiconductor is manufactured through a diversity of processes. For better semiconductor productivity, fault detection and classification (FDC) has been rigorously studied for finding faults even before the processes are completed. For FDC, various kinds of sensors are attached in many semiconductor manufacturing devices, and sensor values are collected in a periodic manner. The collection of sensor values consists of sequences of real numbers, and hence is regarded as a kind of time-series data. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for detecting and clustering faults in semiconductor processes. The proposed algorithm is a modification of the existing anomaly detection algorithm dealing with symbolically-represented time-series. The contributions of this paper are: (1) showing that a modification of the existing anomaly detection algorithm dealing with general time-series could be used for semiconductor process data and (2) presenting experimental results for improving correctness of fault detection and clustering. As a result of our experiment, the proposed algorithm caused neither false positive nor false negative.

This thesis examines the origin, the change and the symbolic meanings of class representation, and offers a comparative study on the differences of class representation in the history of Korean and western costume on the basis of class representation methods and types shown from ancient times to 18C. In both eastern and western costume, the differences in status are commonly represented in the width and length of costume, color, textile, ornamental design, wearing, decoration, etc. The costume of noble class was wide and long, while that of common class was narrow and short so that it could be convenient for them to move around. Especially, from 16C to 18C in the west the costume of noble class was expanded to the extent that it was inconvenient for them to move around not only by skirt swelling by using hoop, but also by pad, ruff, lace, etc. This appears to show that they are not working class. Wearing and decoration of noble class were much more colorful, complicated and varied, while those of common class were simple and plain. In the west, the wearing of chiton and toga in Greece and Rome was different depending on social status. More specific look at the differences in class representation shown in the eastern and western costume reveals that the higher the rank, the more the women in both Gothic and Chosun period covered the body, thereby representing rank. An efficient diagnostic approach for real-time operation aiding expert system in chemical process plants is discussed. The approach is based on the hybrid of the simplified symptom tree(SST) and the fault consequence digraph(FCD), representation of propagation patterns of fault states. The SST generates fault hypothesis efficiently and the FCD resolve the real fault accurately. Frame based knowledge representation and object-oriented programming make diagnostic system general and efficient. Truth maintenance system enables robust pattern matching and provides enhanced explain facilities. A prototype expert system for supports operation of naphtha furnaces process, called OASYS, has been built and tested to demonstrate this methodology.
