Florence Nightingale is best remembered today as the Lady with the Lamp, but modern research on the English nurse primarily addresses her popular iconography as a historical misrepresentation of her character and career. This scholarly reluctance to analyze critically Nightingalean iconography, however, has obscured important cultural work performed by the popular tropes. This article argues that the proliferation of Nightingale's iconic image as a symbol of Christian womanhood in transatlantic periodical poetry, when examined separately from biographical considerations, reveals important insights into the complex relationship between form and affect in mid-nineteenth periodicals. Popular representations of Nightingale give form to the disorienting effects produced on newspaper readers by the nascent field of international journalism and reflect a key generic paradox at the heart of the Victorian periodical: the simultaneous aim to report news objectively and to move readers affectively in response to events beyond national contexts and interests. Focusing on Lewis Carroll's "The Path of Roses" and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Santa Filomena," this article contends that Nightingalean periodical poetry mirrors back to readers their own affective response to modern media and functions as a new technology for managing an increasingly acute awareness of events and ethical responsibilities beyond the nation.

이 논문에서는 송신 상관된 레일리 페이딩 채널에서 프리코더를 갖는 다중 입출력 안테나 시스템이 고려된다. 특히 최소평균제곱오차 수신기를 적용한 다중 입출력 안테나 시스템을 대상으로 한다. 임의 행렬 이론에 기초하여, 신호 대 간섭 및 잡음비의 확률 밀도 함수를 유도하기 위한 정확하고 일반화된 식을 유도한다. 그리하여 적은 수의 송신 및 수신 안테나에 대하여 정확한 폐쇄형 신호 대 간섭 및 잡음비의 확률 밀도 함수 식을 제안한다. 또한, 신호 대 간섭 및 잡음비의 확률 밀도 함수 식에 기초하여 폐쇄형 심볼 오류율 근사식을 제안한다. 제안하는 심볼오류율 분석결과는 오류 확률을 정확하게 예측하거나, 시스템 디자인을 위한 유용한 툴로서 사용될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

The object of this study lies in reviewing of the western costume history in the light of the negative regulations concerning costumes and adornments. Readings related with the subject lead to the following findings; 1. the principal purpose of the sumptuary laws has relationship with the social stratification of the feudalism and the frequency of their occurrence is related with the formation of feudal system, its decline, the appearance of imperial regimes and the start of civil revolutions. 2. Sumptuary regulations spread westward with the flow of civilization, eg., in the sequence of Italy, swiss, France, Britain and new world. 3. Sumptuary laws are also found in abundance in the english colonies of America, and their object seems to be rather of the moral concern than class distinction of economical restriction.4. The reviewed sumptuary regulations are concerned with : A. Material gold or silver clothes, silks, ermine, marten or miniver furs, velvets, laces and embroies. B. Colors-Purple, scarlet and red. Other colors do not show consistent pattern of color-status symbol; C. Form-Length and width of headdresses, shoes, collars, trains or hoops. E. numbers of dresses allowed to be worn.

The purpose of this study was to research the symbolic of Ancient Egyptian Crown ornament. The results of this study were summarized as follows. Ancient Egyptians expressed the authority of king and nature worship to the crown ornament. The volume and scale of shape symbolized the authority of king and the nature worship. The brillant and plentiful of colors symbolized the strong1y authority of king. The numbers of patterns symbolized the authority of king and the nature worship.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the formative properties of fashion bag in contemporary fashion. Today fashion bags can be divided into spatial aesthetic, romantic aesthetic, conspicuous aesthetic, active aesthetic. Spatial aesthetic is a type of big bag which is suitable for women carrying lots of things on a daily basis. Romantic aesthetic is a symbol of femininity in respect for its handmade artistry, splendor, decoration, and impracticality by small size. Conspicuous aesthetic embodies human desire of high quality and being part of prestige of luxury brand regardless of its cost. Multi-functional aesthetic was coming form sports gear and are popular among young generation. In comtemporary fashion, bag take important role as the fashion good which make the clothes look better and additionally they are representative products which reflect the historical situation.

The very complicated proplem in spatial processing is effects of phading (Multipath and Delay Spread) and co-channel interference (CCI). The phading is one of principal causes, that form inter-symbol interference (ISI). Spatial-Temproral Adaptive Filter (STAF) has been taken as a solution of this problem, because it can suppress both these types of interference. But the performance of STAF exposes some elemental limitations, in which are the slow convergence of adaptive process and computational complexity. The cause of this is that, STAF must treat a large quantity of information in both space and time. The way that master these limitation is a use of Subband Spatial-Temproral Adaptive Filter (SSTAF). SSTAF reduce computational complexity by pruning off samples of signal and thus it lost some information in time. This draw on attennation of output SINR of SSTAF. The article analyse a optimal solution of this problem by introducing SSTAF with nonuniform weighted distribution.

Osteoporosis is the most common form of metabolic bone disease and is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in the elderly and especially in postmenopausal women. The possible beneficial action of essential fatty acids and their metabolites both in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis needs attention. Therefore in this study, fatty acid levels of the normal groups was compared with those of patients. And then star symbol plots were drawn based on the fatty acids values of patients normalized to the corresponding normal group values to transform into visual patterns discriminating from the normal pattern. Chair is one of objects which are closely connected with human body and is a symbol which represents human essence and culture. Symbolism embodies the meaning of expression through transfering the immaterial structure to tangible form. Therefore chair embodies the essential internal desires of human by means of its symbolic representation. In order to understand the essential human desires included in the symbolism of chair it is necessary to consider these desires with respect to cultural and historical context. in this study four essential internal desires of human are investigated through the symbolic representation of chair that is the desires on human psychological comfort authority freedom and eroticism. The purpose of this study is to emphasize the necessity of the design approach based on the understanding of essential internal desires of human which is pursued from the object by user.

Cyclic Delay Diversity (CDD) is a diversity scheme used in OFDM-based telecommunication systems, transforming spatial diversity into frequency diversity and thus avoiding intersymbol interference without entailing the receiver to be aware of the transmission strategy making the signal more reliable achieving full diversity gain in cooperative systems. Here the analyzation of the influence of CDD-SC scheme in Cognitive Radio Network (CRN) is done with the challenge of overcoming the complication called channel estimation along with overhead in CNR. More specifically, the closed-form expressions for outage probability and symbol error rate are divided under different frequencies among independent and identically distributed (i.i.d.) frequency selective fading channel model i.e., the signal is divided into different frequencies and transmitted among several narrow band channels of different characteristics. It is useful in the reduction of interference and crosstalk. The results reveal the diversity order of the proposed system to be mainly affected by the number of multipath components that are available in the CNR.

The main objective of this paper is to show how one can obtain eleven new and interesting hypergeometric identities in the form of a single result from the old ones by mainly employing the known beta integral method which was recently introduced and used in a systematic manner by Krattenthaler and Rao [6]. The results are derived with the help of a generalization of a well-known hypergeometric transformation formula due to Kummer. Several identities including one obtained earlier by Krattenthaler and Rao [6] follow as special cases of our main results.
