The speed of SR(Switched Reluctance) motor can be controlled by switching angle. However, since the relation between speed and switching is nonlinear, it is difficult for simple adjustment schemes to achieve the desired performances. In this paper, an error.feedback nonlinear compensator with robustness is proposed for improving the performances of the switching angle controlled SR motor. The proposed controller consists of integral type control and relay type control. The integral type controller which operates regulation, is derived by the steady.state I/O(input/output) map and the relay type controller which works tracking, is designed by Lyapunov stability theory. The validities of the proposed controller are confirmed with the experimental results.

In a SRM drive, the on/off angles of each phase switch should be accurately controlled in order to control to torque and speed in a stable way, The accuracy of the switching angles is dependent upon the resolution of the encoder and the sampling period of the microprocessor. However, as the speed increase, the amount of the switching angle deviation from the preset values is also increased by the sampling period of the microprocessor. Therefore, a low cost encoder suitable for a practical and stable SRM drive is proposed and the control algorithm to provide the switching signals using the simple digital logic circuit is also presented in this paper. It is verified from the experiments that the proposed encoder and logic controller can be a powerful candidate a the practical low cost SRM drive.

Electromagnetic levitation system(EMLS) is one of the well known nonlinear systems. Often, it is not easy to control an EMLS due to its high nonlinearity. In this paper, we first apply two linearization method(jacobian and input-output feedback linearization) to design two feedback controllers for an EMLS. Then, by observing the advantages of each controller, we design a switching control algorithm which engage two controllers depending on the position of the steel ball in order to achieve the improved performance over each controller. The validity of our switching control approach is verified via both simulation and actual experimental results.

The power loss of large-capacity systems using single-phase inverters has attracted considerable attention. In this study, optimal switching sequence model prediction control at a low switching frequency is proposed to reduce the power loss in a high-power inverter system, and a compensation method that can be utilized for model prediction control is developed to reduce errors in accordance with sampling values. When a three-level, single-phase inverter using a switching frequency of 600 Hz and a sampling frequency of 12 kHz is adopted, the power factor is improved from 0.95 to 0.99 through 3 kW active power control. The performance of the controller is also verified.

This paper is studied on a novel power factor correction (PFC) AC-DC converter of high efficiency by soft switching technique. The input current waveform in the proposed converter is got to be a sinusoidal form composed of many a discontinuous pulse in proportion to the magnitude of a ac input voltage under the constant switching frequency. Therefore, the input power factor is nearly unity and the control method is simple. The proposed converter adding an electric isolation operates with a discontinuous current mode (DCM) of the reactor in order to obtain some merits of simpler control, such as fixed switching frequency, without synchronization control circuit used in continuous current mode (CCM). To achieve the soft switching (ZCS or ZVS) of control devices, the converter is constructed with a new loss-less snubber for a partial resonant circuit. It is that the switching losses are very low and the efficiency of the converter is high, Particularly, the stored energy in a loss-less snubber capacitor recovers into input side and increases input current from a resonant operation. The result is that the input power factor of the proposed converter is higher than that of a conventional PFC converter. This paper deals mainly with the circuit operations, theoretical, simulated and experimental results of the proposed PFC AC-DC converter in comparison with a conventional PFC AC-DC converter.

In this paper, the switching mode conversion type pulse charger by fly-back converter method for lead battery of the solar cell generator equipment is proposed. And we propose the control circuit and design method of insulated switching mode convert type pulse charger by fly-back convert method in the lead battery. The proposed system can minimize the current consumption by digital pulse. Also the proposed system can generate the constant 10[KHz] frequency, transmit the signal with main control system in the power control system. And it supervises the state of lead battery using one chip micro processor. The proposed the switching mode conversion type pulse charger by the fly-back converter method can charge fast and stabilize lead battery with nominal value 12[V], 20[AH]. Also we propose the design procedure of the power control circuit for turn ratio of fly-back inductor and determining method of values such as the charging current, bulk current, partial current, over current value and fixed charging voltage. The experiment results for the voltage and current wave for partial, bulk, over and fixed charging period show the good charging effect and performance. And the PCB and internal coupling diagram of the switching mode conversion type pulse charger by fly-back converter method is presented.

This paper presents an DTC-PWM (Direct Torque Control-Pulse Width Modulation) of PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor). The proposed DTC-PWM method combines a conventional DTC and PWM approach for switching signal generation. The actual torque is estimated by the torque estimator in conventional method, but the switching signal is generated by PWM method according to the switching rules and torque error. A effective voltage vector and zero vector are used to generate the switching signals and asymmetric switching method is applied. A simple calculation of PWM without any complex determination of space vector can assure the constant switching frequency with an constant torque and flux. The proposed torque control scheme for PMSM is verified by experimental results.

There are many researches showing that when a process change has occurred, variable sampling intervals (VSI) control chart is better than the fixed sampling interval (FSI) control chart in terms of reducing the required time to signal. When the process engineers use VSI control procedure, frequent switching between different sampling intervals can be a complicating factor. However, average number of samples to signal (ANSS), which is the amount of required samples to signal, and average time to signal (ATS) do not provide any control statistics about switching performances of VSI charts. In this study, we evaluate numerical switching performances of multivariate VSI EWMA chart including average number of switches to signal (ANSW) and average switching rate (ASWR). In addition, numerical study has been carried out to examine how to improve the performance of considered chart with accumulate-combine approach under several different smoothing constant and sample size. In conclusion, process engineers, who want to manage the correlation coefficients of related quality variables, are recommended to make sample size as large and smoothing constant as small as possible under permission of process conditions.
In this paper, authors propose a novel step-up AC-DC chopper operated with power factor correction (PFC) and with high efficiency. The proposed chopper behaves with discontinuous current control (DCC) of input current. The input current waveform in the proposed chopper is got to be a discontinuous sinusoid form in proportion to magnitude of ac input voltage under the constant duty cycle switching. Therefore, the input power factor is nearly unity and the control method is simple. In the general DCC chopper, the switching devices are turned-on with the zero current switching, but turn-off of the switching devices is switched at current maximum value. To achieve a soft switching of the switching turn-off, the proposed chopper is used a new partial resonant circuit. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of chopper is high.

The system efficiency of the proposed Buck-Boost AC-DC converter is increased by soft switching method. The converter includes to merit of power factor correction (PFC) from sinusoidal control of input current. The switching behavior of control switches operates with soft switching by partial resonance, and then the proposed converter has high system efficiency with decrement of switching power loss. The input current waveform in proposed converter is got to be a sinusoidal form of discontinuous quasi-pulse row in proportion to magnitude of AC input voltage under the constant duty cycle switching. Therefore, the input power factor is nearly unity. The output voltage of the converter is regulated by PWM control technique. The discontinuous mode action of current flowing into inductor makes to simplify control method and control components. The proposed PFC Buck-Boost converter is analyzed to compare with the conventional PFC Buck-Boost converter. Some computer simulative results and experimental results confirm to the validity of the analytical results.
