Waveform Generator for W-band Compact Radar (W-band 소형 레이다용 파형발생부)

  • In this paper, W-band Waveform Generator for compact radar has been designed and fabricated. DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) is applied to generate CW (Continuous Wave) and FMCW (Frequency Modulation Continuous Wave) waveform at high speed. We designed two LO (Local Oscillator) paths for functions of distance delay and distance tracking tests at the prpposed system without extra test equipment. Two mode selections are provided by switch. It is observed that fabricated waveform generator performs -91 dBc/Hz phase noise at offset 1 kHz and -63.2 dBc spurious. Proposed W-band Waveform Generator is expected to apply for W-band compact radar transceiver module.

Development of PV Module Integrated Type Low Voltage Battery Charger using Cascaded Buck-Boost Converter (Cascaded Buck-Boost 컨버터를 이용한 태양광 모듈 집적형 저전압 배터리 충전 장치 개발)

  • In this paper, in order to use module integrated converter using cascaded buck-boost converter for a low battery charger in stand-alone system, a charging algorithm which considers photovoltaic and battery status and PWM controllers which are changed according to charging modes are proposed. The proposed algorithm consists of constant current mode, constant voltage mode and maximum power point tracking mode which enables the battery to charge with maximum power rate. This paper also presents design of cascaded buck-boost converter that is the photovoltaic charger system. A 150W prototype system is built according to verify proposed the charger system and the algorithm.

Design and Implementation of Intelligent IP Streaming Module Based on Personalized Media Service (개인 맞춤형 미디어 서비스 기반 지능형 IP 스트리밍 모듈 설계 및 구현)

  • Streaming Technology can support the real-time playback without downloading and storing multimedia data in local HDD. So, client browser or plug-in can represent multimedia data before the end of file transmission using streaming technology. Recently, the demand for efficient real-time playback and transmission of large amounts of multimedia data is growing rapidly. But most users' connections over network are not fast and stable enough to download large chunks of multimedia data. In this paper, we propose an intelligent IP streaming system based on personalized media service. The proposed IP streaming system enables users to get an intelligent recommendation of multimedia contents based on the user preference information stored on the streaming server or the home media server. The supposed intelligent IP streaming system consists of Server Metadata Agent, Pumping Server, Contents Storage Server, Client Metadata Agent and Streaming Player. And in order to implement the personalized media service, the user information, user preference information and client device information are managed under database concept. Moreover, users are assured of seamless access of streamed content event if they switch to another client device by implementing streaming system based on user identification and device information. We evaluate our approach with manufacturing home server system and simulation results.

  • In this paper, new directional couplers for T/R switch of UHF RFID applications are proposed to overcome TX-to-RX leakage problem. The proposed method can remove TX-to-RX leakage caused by both imperfect isolation characteristic of the conventional directional coupler and the mismatch of antenna impedance. Two directional couplers are implemented using distributed elements and lumped elements respectively for the verification. The varactor tuneable circuits for compensation of the antenna mismatch is also proposed. The measurement result shows excellent TX-to-RX leakage suppression, more than 45dB in 910MHz.

  • A power device is a component used as a switch or rectifier in power electronics to control high voltages. Consequently, power devices are used to improve the efficiency of electric-vehicle (EV) chargers, new energy generators, welders, and switched-mode power supplies (SMPS). Power device designs, which require high voltage, high efficiency, and high reliability, are typically based on MOSFET (metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor) and IGBT (insulated-gate bipolar transistor) structures. As a unipolar device, a MOSFET has the advantage of relatively fast switching and low tail current at turn-off compared to IGBT-based devices, which are built on bipolar structures. A superjunction structure adds a p-base region to allow a higher yield voltage due to lower RDS (on) and field dispersion than previous p-base components, significantly reducing the total gate charge. To verify the basic characteristics of the superjunction, we worked with a planar type MOSFET and Synopsys' process simulation T-CAD tool. A basic structure of the superjunction MOSFET was produced and its changing electrical characteristics, tested under a number of environmental variables, were analyzed.

An Experimental Study on the Noise Reduction Method of HEV-relay Module (하이브리드 자동차용 계전기 모듈의 소음저감에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this paper, the noise of HEV(hybrid electric vehicle)-relay module during the turn-on and turnoff switching is experimentally analyzed and an effective method is proposed to reduce the impact noise. First, enclosure methods of 100A relay part with urethane and silicon are tested to find out a better material to isolate the noise. This result shows that the urethane is a better for the noise isolation of relay, so the relays enclosed by urethane are installed in the relay module. Second, the noise of HEV-relay module is analyzed experimentally to identify the noise generation mechanism. From this result, it is found that the vibration transmitted to battery pack through bolt generates the structural borne noise with the frequency band of 200~2000 Hz, which is more serious when the switch is turned off. Finally, the direction of switching and the joint structure are modified in order to isolate the vibration transmitted to battery back. Both methods are very effective to reduce the switching noise.

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 신재생에너지원으로서 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 태양광 시스템에 대하여 화재발생시 야기될 수 있는 위험성뿐만 아니라 화재진압 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 문제들을 다루었다. 특히 주택의 지붕위에 설치된 실리콘이 주성분인 태양광 패널은 화재가 발생할 경우 생성되는 열을 차단 및 반사하여 건물 내에 축적시킴으로써 화재강도를 직접적으로 증가시킬 수 있으므로 설치 시 이러한 위험성에 대비할 수 있는 방안을 마련해야 한다. 또한 PV 시스템에 연결된 고압 전력선에 물을 뿌릴 경우 소방대원들의 감전으로 인한 부상이나 사망으로 이어질 수 있으므로, 이를 방지하기 위한 대책마련이 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 해외에서는 현재 전력전자 소자가 내장되어 있는 DC 차단스위치 및 모듈이 판매되고 있는 것으로 조사되었다.

High Efficiency Half-bridge DC-DC Converter for an LED Backlight Drive System of LCD Module Inspection Equipment (LCD 모듈 검사장비용 LED 백라이트 드라이브 시스템을 위한 고효율 반브리지 직류-직류 전력변환기)

  • This paper presents a high efficiency half-bridge DC-DC converter for an LED backlight drive system of LCD module inspection equipment. The proposed converter improves the converter efficiency using characteristics of the asymmetrical half-bridge converter and the self-driven synchronous rectifier, and thus improves the total efficiency of the LED backlight drive system. The synchronous rectifier applied to the proposed converter is the new topological synchronous rectifier, which changes slightly the transformer structure and the synchronous switch connection in the asymmetrical half-bridge converter with a conventional self-driven synchronous rectifier. Since the proposed converter utilizes the transformer leakage inductor as its resonant inductor, its structure is simplified. The proposed converter well operates under the universal DC input voltage ($250{\sim}380V$). The operational principle and a design example for a 100W prototype are discussed in detail, respectively. Experimental results are shown for the designed prototype converter under universal DC input voltage.

The Prototype-Making of a Three-Phase Power Management Device for the Industrial Switchgear (산업용 분전반 적용을 위한 3상 전력 관리 장치 시작품 제작에 대한 연구)

  • Recently, the industrial electric customers require a digital switchgear which can improve the safety and reliability of the power supply, and the quality of electric power by on-line monitoring the electric power information based on the internet under the ubiquitous environments. Accordingly, in this paper, a industrial switch-gear prototype is designed based on the power supply method of three phase, four-line type, and then a three-phase electric management module of the digital switchgear is made for industrial electric customer system. Finally, the three-phase voltage and current measuring function of the prototype is verified from real power load test.

  • 본 논문은 Discontinuous Conduction Mode(DCM) 플라이백 컨버터로 생성한 고전압 펄스를 스파크 갭으로 펄스 상승 시간을 줄이는 방법에 관하여 다룬다. 이러한 방법으로 생성된 빠른 상승률 특성을 가지는 고전압 펄스 전원장치는 친환경 가스 처리 분야에 사용할 수 있다. 기존 스태킹 구조의 펄스 전원 장치는 많은 수의 스위치들과 에너지 저장 소자가 필요하므로 부피가 커지고 제조 단가가 증가하는 반면, 분 논문에 제안된 전원 장치는 구조를 단순화하여 전체 시스템의 소형화 및 제조 단가를 낮춘 점을 특징으로 한다. 제안된 설계 토폴로지는 플라이백 변압기 2차 측에 다이오드의 사용 유무에 따라 두 개의 변형된 회로로 응용 가능 하다. 변압기 2차측에 다이오드를 사용하면, 음의 성분 없이 깨끗한 고전압 출력 펄스를 만들 수 있지만 사용한 다이오드의 전압 정격을 고려해야 한다. 다이오드를 사용하지 않는다면, 고전압 출력 펄스에 음의 성분이 발생하지만 비용과 부피를 최대한 줄일 수 있다. PSIM 시뮬레이션을 사용하여 제안하는 전원 장치의 23kV, 0.5 ㎲, 10 ns rising time의 출력 펄스 발생 성능을 검증하고, 다이오드 사용에 따른 출력 펄스의 차이점을 비교하였다.
