The purpose of this research is to analyze the effects of Dansam and Sappan wood extract to perform combination dyeing on silk fabrics, with respect to color changes, fastness (washing, dry cleaning, perspiration, rubbing and light fastness), and functionality (antibacterial activity and deodorization). Combination dyeing was performed by first combining Dansam with Sappan wood, then Sappan wood with Dansam, in these orders. Given the changes in the combination ratio, pre-mordant treatment was performed. Looking at the surface colors of each dye, Dansam generally produces YR color series, while Sappan wood produces YR, R, and RP color series. The effects of changing the order in which combination dying was performed on the surface colors were as follows. First, combination dyeing (A) was performed by using Dansam before Sappan wood, to produce YR and R color series. Then combination dyeing (B) was performed by using Sappan wood before Dansam, to produce YR, R, and RP color series. By visual inspections, more similar color changes of the combination dyeing were noticed with the post-dyeing material rather than the pre-dyeing material. Therefore, it was presumably confirmed that surface color changes of combination dyeing were greatly influenced by the post-dyeing color. Individual dyeing tests for fastness showed that Dansam was comparatively superior to Sappan wood, which demonstrated lower fastness to washing, dry cleaning, perspiration, and light, relatively. The fastness of combination dyed samples was shown middle, but similar fastness to the post-dye material, The fastness of (B) method was higher than (A) method in the washing and light fastness. This confirms that color fastness from combination dyeing was considerably influenced by the post-dye material. It was found that all dyed samples had a very high bacterial reduction rate of 99.9% and high deodorization rate of 95%.

The effect of non-ionic surfactants added by hydroxides was studied to wash HOCs-contaminated soil. The kinds and concentrations of additives-mixed surfactants suitable for the soil washing were found. The effects of temperature on the soil washing were analyzed and the relations of HLB and cloud point were estabilished. As the base strength was increased, the washing efficiency was increased : NaOH>KOH> Mg(OH)$_2$>Al(OH)$_3$. Washing efficiency was not enhanced by Al(OH)$_3$for coagulation effect. When NaOH was added to POE$\_$5/ washing efficiencies by 0.01 M and 0.1 M solutions were increased to 62.5% and 67.3%, respectively. At 1 M of NaOH washing efficiency was decreased to 4.2%. The Optimum concentration ratio of mixed surfactant [POE$\_$5//POE$\_$14/] was 1.8%/1.2% without additives. But optimum concentration ratio of surfactants was changed to 1.2%/1.8% with 0.01 M of NaOH addition. The surface tensions and CMCs of mixed surfactant added by NaOH solutions were investigated. The addition of NaOH reduces the surface tension of more hydrophobic surfactants. The nonionic surfactant of higher HLB showed highed cloud point.
In this study, we investigated effect of washing with brine on quality characteristics of strawberries during storage at 4 or $20^{\circ}C$. The strawberry samples were prepared with brine-washing (BW), brine-washing and removing moisture on surface (BWR), or without brine-washing and removing moisture (control). The samples were tested for total aerobic bacteria, pH, color, firmness. BWR affected the microbial change, resulting in retarding the growth of total aerobic bacteria, compared with the control and BW. The initial microbial and exponential growth phase of BWR at $4^{\circ}C$ was not detected. For pH, there wasn't dramatical change on BWR at $4^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$. In addition, there was dramatically in decreased on control and BW. A-value was increased over storage time on control and BWR except BW. For firmness, there wasn't dramatical change on all sample when stored at $4^{\circ}C$. The results suggest that storage of strawberry stored after washing and moisture removal from the surface should be applied to maintain quality and shelf-life during storage of strawberries.

To study the effect of the bleaching agents in detergents on the degradation of cotton fabrics, the carboxyl contents, copper numbers, degree of polymerization, the change of tensile strengths and fiber surfaces of cotton fabric before and after washing were examined. The results obtained were as follows: As the cycles and temperature of washing increased, the carboxyl content of washed cotton fabric changed little but the copper unmber of cotton fabric was increased. At 6$0^{\circ}C$ , 8$0^{\circ}C$ the copper number of cotton fabric washed with soidum perborate (PB) was higher than that of with sodium percarbonate (PC). The degree of polymeriazation and tensile strength of cotton fabric were decreased and at higher temperature those were more decreased but were less decreased when tetraacetyehylenediamine (TAED) was added. The degree of polymerization had negative relation with copper unmber but with tensile strength of cotton fabric had positive relation. Cotton fiber surface was more degraded by bleaching agents and hydrogen peroxide exhaustion was increased as the temperature of washing increased. And hydrogen peroxide exhaustion had negative relation with the degree of polymerization.
In order to improve the washing fastness of dyed polyester artificial suede fabric, it was dyed by using auto and anthraguinone type disperse dyes and treated with 3 different reduction clearing methods. The reduction clearing methods used in this study were normal alkaline reduction clearing, $N_2$ gas replacement method, and ultrasonic treatment during normal reduction clearing. The results were as followings ; The washing fastness property of dyed polyester artificial suede fabric was slightly improved by reduction clearing with $N_2$ gas replacement or with ultrasonic treatment comparing with normal alkaline reduction clearing. It was found that the use of $N_2$ gas replacement or ultrasonic treatment during reduction clearing eave effective removal of unfixed dyes on the fiber surface. We also obtained that the azo type disperse dye on polyester artificial fabric suede fabric showed higher wash fastness than anthraquinone type disperse dye.

This study aimed to ex situ colorize laccase-entrapped bacterial cellulose (BC) with natural phenolic dyes, namely, madder, turmeric, and cochineal, and to determine the effect of laccase entrapment on the dyeability of BC using color strength (K/S) analysis. Results showed that laccase entrapment improved the dyeability of BC and that pre-entrapment was the most effective method, compared with meta-entrapment and post-entrapment methods. In addition, surface characterizations confirmed the successful entrapment of laccase inside the BC nanostructure and retention of the cellulosic and crystalline structures of BC. The washing durability test confirmed that the K/S value of BC had improved after laccase entrapment. Furthermore, laccase-entrapped BC colorized with cochineal dye had the highest washing durability due to the high molecular weight of cochineal dyerelative to the other dyes. This study suggests a novel method for enhancing the dyeability and washing durability of BC colorized ex situ with natural phenolic dyes by laccase entrapment.
Electrolytic water(EW), studied in recent decades in the Japan, Russia and United State of America, have shown promise as a method of disinfection whereby low levels of free chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, or hypochlorous acid may be produced in situ in Nacl-containing solution. These methods have shown promise in destruction of microorganisms in medical, dental environment, and in the agriculture and food industry. A recently EW treatment system was evaluated for reducing scouring agent and other surfactants in the washing and scouring process of textile industry Unfortunately, there is, to my knowledge, no serious studies of the properties of EW for textile industry In order to study the characteristics of EW and confirm the possibility of applications in textile industry processes, the pH, surface activity, penetration force, surface tension, and contact angle of EW was measured under various conditions. In general terms, What all this shows is that there is fundamental difference between the properties of EW and that of distilled water.
In this study, general bacterial counts and coliform counts, which are hygienic indicator microorganisms, were tested for candy, chocolate, and jelly which are easily available and enjoyed around. After dropping each sample on the desk, indoors, and outdoors, it is immediately collected, or washed and collected to confirm the myth of the 3-second rule. Immediately after removing the wrapping paper, each sample was dropped on the desk, indoors, and outdoors, and after 3 seconds from the moment of contact with the surface, and then collected in a sample bag using sterilized sanitary gloves. After the same operation, each sample was rinsed for 5 seconds using sterilized sanitary gloves and sterilized distilled water, and then collected in a sample bag. The number of bacteria detected in non-washing candies was 41 CFU/g at outdoor and the number of bacteria detected in non-washing chocolate was 76 CFU/g at outdoor. The number of bacteria detected in non-washing jellies was 79 CFU/g at outdoor. Coliform group was not detected in all samples. This showed good results at the level of m = 10,000 or less, which is an allowable value suggested in the Food Code. Also, effect of washing on contaminated food was confirmed. This result is remarkably low compared with the microorganism specimens shown in Food Code, and it is confirmed that contamination occurs but not high value. Therefore, the myth of the 3-second rule is true compared to the figures based on Food Code. However, it showed the characteristics of bacteria that could survive and cross-contaminate on dry food surfaces and emphasized the importance of hygiene through food contact to unsanitary surfaces to minimize the risk of food poisoning.

To meet demand of big capacity and high speed rotation for washing machine, more stress from bending and twisting are complexly loaded onto the shaft supporting the horizontal drum, causing problems in fracture strength and fatigue life. Shafting system is mainly divided into flange and shaft. Flange is located between the drum and shaft, transferring power from the shaft to drum, and acting as a supporter of the back of the drum. Because section of flange has various design factors according to configuration of flange, the optimum conditions can’t be easily determined. Using a design of experiment (DOE), this study was performed investigating the interaction effect between factors as well as the main effect of the each design factor under bending and twist and proposed optimum condition using center composition method among response surface derived from regression equation of simulation-based DOE.
This study was carried out to investigate on the removal of oily and particulate soils from silk fabrics. Various kinds of solvents were used on the removal of two kinds of soils treated into the silk fabrics. The removal of oily soil was analyzed by liquid scintillation counting method, and the removal of oil and carbon particulate mixed soils was evaluated by measuring of reflectance on the surface of soiled fabrics with/without drysoap in solvent washing by Terg-o-tometer. The surfaces of fabrics were also observed by SEM before and after washing. The results obtained were as follows : oily soils were removed efficiently by various kinds of solvents regardless of kinds of silk fabrics in short washing time. The removal effect of solvents from the soiled silk fabrics were high in the order of isopropyl alcohol>trichloroethane>monochlorobenzene>ethylether>perchloroethylene. Oil and carbon particulate mixed soils could be efficiently removed by adding of drysoap in solvent washing. The removal of mixed soils were increased drastically with rinsing and increased drysoap. The removal of soils was more efficiently removed from degummed silk fabrics than from the raw silk fabrics.
