원통형 곡면상으로의 투영과 상호작용 기법에 관한 연구 (A study on the projection and interaction methods onto the cylindrical surface)

  • 최근 다양한 분야(건축, 디자인, 영화관)에서 활용되는 디스플레이 기술들은 대체로 평면에 투영하는 프로젝션 기술을 사용하고 있다. 예외적으로 평면이 아닌 곡면에 투영하는 경우도 있었으나, 기술적인 제약으로 왜곡된 영상을 보정하여 사용하는 경우는 드문 상태이다. 그리고 상호작용의 경우는 기계적 장치에 의존한 초보적 형태가 주류를 이루고 있다. 본 논문에서는 프로젝션 기술 중에서 원통형 곡면상으로의 투영 기법과 모션인식을 반영한 상호작용 기법에 대해서 논하고자 한다. 3D 영상을 곡면에 왜곡 없이 투영하기 위하여, 본 논문에서는 '2-pass 렌더링' 기법을 이용하였다. 이 기법에서는 현재 렌더링 된 영상을 텍스쳐로 저장한 다음 원통형 물체에 매핑시켜 곡면에 적합한 영상으로 보정한다. 그리고 기계적 장치에 의존하지 않는 상호작용을 위해, 카메라를 통하여 실시간으로 사용자 정보(위치, 방향 값)를 입력 받아 원통형 스크린과 매칭되는 좌표 값을 계산한다. 위와 같은 기법들을 구현하기 위한 실험으로 미디어 아트 작품을 제작하였으며, 투영과 상호작용에 관한 알고리즘을 작품에 적용하였다. 이 작품은 하나의 프로젝터를 사용하여 1/4 원통형 곡면으로의 투영과 상호작용을 수행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 미디어 아트 작품의 프로젝션 모듈로 사용 될 수 있으며, 공연장 건축, 실내디자인, 체감형 인터랙티브 게임, 가상현실 영화관 등 다양한 분야에 적용 될 수 있다.

Essential Computer Vision Methods for Maximal Visual Quality of Experience on Augmented Reality

  • The augmented reality is the environment which consists of real-world view and information drawn by computer. Since the image which user can see through augmented reality device is a synthetic image composed by real-view and virtual image, it is important to make the virtual image generated by computer well harmonized with real-view image. In this paper, we present reviews of several works about computer vision and graphics methods which give user realistic augmented reality experience. To generate visually harmonized synthetic image which consists of a real and a virtual image, 3D geometry and environmental information such as lighting or material surface reflectivity should be known by the computer. There are lots of computer vision methods which aim to estimate those. We introduce some of the approaches related to acquiring geometric information, lighting environment and material surface properties using monocular or multi-view images. We expect that this paper gives reader's intuition of the computer vision methods for providing a realistic augmented reality experience.

물리화학적 및 생물학적으로 표면개질된 고분자의 세포 적합성 연구 (Cell-compatibility of physicochemically and biologically modified polymer surfaces)

  • We have treated polymer surfaces such as polyethylene, polystyrene and polyester by various physicochemical and biological surface modification methods to be suitable for cell adhesion. The physicochemical methods we used were $O_2$ plasma discharge, corona discharge, sulfuric acid and chloric acid treatments. For the biological treatments, blood proteins such as plasma protein, serum protein and fibronectin were adsorbed onto the polymer surfaces. Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells were cultured on the surface-modified polymers and the cell-compatibility of those surfaces were compared. The chloric acid and fibronectin treatments were found to be the best methods of rendering the polymer surfaces adhesive for CHO cells.

삼차원 재건 기술을 이용한 맞춤형 몽고메리 T-Tube의 제작에 관한 예비 연구 (Custom-Made T-Tube Designed by 3-D Reconstruction Technique, a Preliminary Study)

  • Background: Montgomery T-tube is widely used to maintain airway in many cases. Market-available tubes are not always fit to the trachea of each patient and need some modification such as trimming. Complications do happen in prolonged use like tracheostomy tubes. To overcome above limitations, we designed custom-made T-tube using CT data with the aid of 3D reconstruction software. Material and Method: Boundaries were extracted from neck CT data of normal person and processed by surface rendering methods. Real laryngotracheal model and tracheal inner surface-mimicking tube model were made with plaster and rubber. The main tube was designed by accumulation of circles or simple closed curves made from boundaries. Stomal tube was made by accumulation of squares due to limitation of software. Measurement data of tracheal lumen were used to custom-made T-tubes. Tracheal lumen residing portion (vertical limb) was made like circular cylinder or simple closed curved cylinder. Stomal portion (horizontal limb) was designed like square cylinder. Results: Custom made T-tube with cylindric vertical limb and horizontal limb of square cylinder was designed. Conclusion: CT data was helpful in making custom made T-tube with 3D reconstruction technique. If suitable materials are available, commercial T-tube can be printed out from 3D printers.

Development of Magnetically Separable Immobilized Lipase by Using Cellulose Derivatives and Their Application in Enantioselective Esterification of Ibuprofen

  • Highly active, stable, and magnetically separable immobilized enzymes were developed using carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and diethylaminoethyl cellulose DEAE-C; hereafter designated "DEAE" as supporting materials. Iron oxide nanoparticles penetrated the micropores of the supporting materials, rendering them magnetically separable. Lipase (LP) was immobilized on the surface of the supporting materials by using cross-linked enzyme aggregation (CLEA) by glutaraldehyde. The activity of enzyme aggregates coated on DEAE was approximately 2 times higher than that of enzyme aggregates coated on CMC. This is explained by the fact that enzyme aggregates with amine residues are more efficient than those with carboxyl residues. After a 96-h enantioselective ibuprofen esterification reaction, 6% ibuprofen propyl ester was produced from the racemic mixture of ibuprofen by using DEAE-LP, and 2.8% using CMC-LP.

  • 본 연구는 게임을 비롯한 많은 콘텐츠에서 활용하기 위한 GPU기반 사실적 물 애니메이션 기법을 제안한다. 물 표면은 반사 및 투사와 같은 물리적 현상이 일어나며, 시점에 따른 반사와 투사의 정도가 자동적으로 조절되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 GPU 프레임 버퍼를 이용한 렌더투텍스처 방법을 이용하여 반사 및 투사결과를 텍스처로 저장하였으며, 이 저장된 데이터에 대한 UV좌표 값을 변경함으로서, 자연스러운 물결의 모습을 표현하였다. 또한 투사 및 반사의 정도가 프레넬(Fresnel) 공식을 통해 자동적으로 계산되도록 하였다.

  • The attractiveness of the textile fabrics are generally judged by visual or tactile evaluation methods. Since the surface of the textile materials are so diverse that the visual factors such as optical properties or luster of the fabrics are not easily measurable. While most of the cotton fabrics are not so much lustrous, calendering process could impart the cotton fabric better luster. Also, the general grade silk-like polyester fabrics resemble silk fabric with some limit in terms of luster properties. One of the interesting fabrics showing subdued luster is the velvet fabrics with dark shade. In this study, the luster related properties are examined using some image analysis methods. Yarn models based on the fabric weave types were developed to further investigate the effect of fabric crimp shapes due to weave on the optical properties or luster of the fabrics.

플라즈마 내부 전기장 가시화 (Visualization of Internal Electric Field on Plasma)

  • It costs high in both memory usage and time consuming to sample the space to compute charge density and calculate electric field on that with large size of plasma data. In real-time and interactive application, accelerating the compute time is critical problem. In this paper, we suggest new method to visualize electric field by using convolution theorem, and the parallel computing to accelerate computing time by using GPGPU. We conduct a simulation that compare running time between the methods with convolution and without convolution. We discussed the method of visualization of multivariate data in three dimensional space using colored volume rendering and surface construction.

  • This paper presents the haptic rendering algorithm which gives the feel information to the operator by manipulating a virtual tool with a haptic device in the simulated environment. The movement of a virtual tool grasped by the operator, which is modeled as a square is displayed in the graphic screen of a computer and the virtual environment is modeled as deformable thin film. When the tool contacts with the virtual environment, the operator is forced to feel the contact and the feature of the deformed virtual environment through the torque control of th haptic device. Contact situations are modeled as close as to the reality considering friction, elasticity and multiple contacts. Several experiments are conducted and the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is confirmed.

  • Efficient, color stable multi-EML WOLED have been fabricated using newly synthesized yellowish green dopant Ir(chpy)3 or Ir(mchpy)3. The devices have high external quantum efficiency of 11.7%, color rendering index of 87, variation of CIE coordinate of (0.02, 0.01) between 10 to 5000 cd/m2, and low roll-off in efficiency with increasing brightness.
