  • The study examines the influence of individual characteristics, training content, and manager support on the effectiveness of on-the-job (OJT) training in the banking and finance industry. A simple random sampling technique was used to select the samples. Questionnaires were distributed to respondents in order to obtain the data. Using cross-sectional data obtained from 396 respondents in Bank A in Malaysia, the multiple regression results show that self-efficacy, motivation to learn, training content, and manager support have positive influence on OJT training effectiveness. Among all these factors, manager support is very highly correlated with OJT training effectiveness. The findings have given fruitful insight of the crucial roles of OJT training in the respective bank, particularly to bring forward the roles of systematic design and implementation of OJT training. This study is not only expanding knowledge in OJT and training, but offers managers practical insights in developing good OJT training program by considering employees need, capabilities, skills and job requirement. Furthermore, this study also provides a valuable framework in identifying the effectiveness of OJT training program for certain jobs. Further discussion of the research findings and its implications to theoretical knowledge of training and managers are promised at the end of the article.

  • Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine factors influencing satisfaction with clinical practice in dental hygiene students. Through this study, we suggested efficient guidance to increase satisfaction levels with clinical practice. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 235 students of clinical dental hygiene in Seoul Gyeonggi Chungcheong Kyongsang and Jeolla province from June 9 to 30, 2017. The questionnaire consisted of questions on general characteristics (6 items), clinical practice characteristics (7 items), ego-resilience (14 items), family support (24 items), teaching effectiveness(35 items), and clinical practice satisfaction (30 items). Data were analyzed using SPSS 19.0. One way ANOVA, the Scheffe Post-hoc test, and the Pearson correlation coefficients were reviewed, and a multiple regression analysis was conducted. Cronbach's alpha of ego-resilience, family support, teaching effectiveness, clinical practice satisfaction were 0.784, 0.892, 0.954 and 0.935, respectively. Results: ego-resilience was 3.24 points, family support was 3.24 points, teaching effectiveness was 2.93 points, clinical practice satisfaction 3.44 points. The meaningful variables which influenced clinical practice satisfaction were the ego-resilience, family support and teaching effectiveness. These factors explained 40.6% of the variance in clinical practice satisfaction. Conclusions: One of the most significant predictors of clinical practice satisfaction in dental hygiene students was teaching effectiveness. Therefore, a teaching program to improve eaching effectiveness should be developed and applied.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of job stress and social support on the organizational effectiveness of hospital employees and to examine the role of social support in the experience of job stress among the employees. Previous studies have yielded mixed results regarding the role of social support. Some studies provide supporting evidence for the buffering effect of social support, while others do not. Still others report findings about reverse buffering effects. These inconsistent findings are, in part, accounted for by methodological problems such as poor measurement, small sample size, and the existence of high multicollinearity. To examine more rigorously the role of social support in relation to the negative effects of job stress, this study was carefully designed to overcome methodolgical shortcomings found in the past research. In addition, unlike the previous studies, which were concerned mostly with health-related variables as consequences of job stress, in this study, three work-related variables (job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and intent to stay) which had close relationships with organizational effectiveness were examined as output variables. The sample used in this study consisted of 353 employees from a university hospital in the surburbs of Seoul. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed using canonical analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that; (1) job stress has negative main effects on job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and intent to stay; (2) social support has positive main effects on the same three output variables, (3) social support does not moderate the harmful effects of job stress on the three outcome variables, and (4) the three-way interaction effects of (social support * job stress * gender) and of (social support * job stress * education) are not supported. The implications of these findings for the management of human resources are discussed.

Data were collected from 149 married working women of health services organizations located in Busan Metropolitan areas by structured self-administered questionnaire. Main results of this study is as the following: First, based on the type of work-household conflicts, namely time-based conflict(2.82 points), strain-based conflict(2.81 points) and behavior-based conflict(2.69 points), working women mainly experienced time and strain-based conflicts. The level of work-household conflicts was significantly higher among younger groups, highly educated, nurses, and regular workers. Second, the perceived organizational effectiveness found to be an above-average. Especially scores were high in the subcategories of customer orientation(3.84), followed by organizational commitment (3.42) and job satisfaction(3.19). The level of organizational effectiveness was significantly higher among older groups, medical technician and administrative job holders, day-time workers, and higher income groups. Third, the results of the regression analysis on the effects of work-household conflicts on organizational effectiveness showed that strain-based conflicts have a significant negative effect on organizational effectiveness such as job satisfaction and organizational commitment. • Generally speaking, weapon system is defined as a combination of primary system and support system which are evaluated by capability and operational availability respectively. Recently comparison of total life cycle cost shows that logistic support system is proved to be more important than primary system. However, until now systematic approach to support system development has not been applied in the area of developing support system. We need to construct a universal metric for effectiveness of logistic support system and to cut out whatever activities or support elements which do not contribute to the metric. This paper describes a new approach based on system engineering approach to logistic support system and also classifies five factors of failure, stock-out frequency, administrative delay time, active repair time and logistic delay time that have influence on operational availability of logistic support system.
