  • Complete cricotracheal separation, which is the most severe type of laryngeal trauma, is an uncommonly seen injury that clinicians have limited experience in managing. However, it is potentially fatal. Due to limited exposure to this condition, mismanagement can occur, which may further aggravate the patient's condition. The most crucial part of managing this injury is to establish a secure airway. Tracheostomy under local anesthesia is the preferred method of airway stabilization, in order to avoid further injuries to the airway caused by endotracheal intubation. Here, we discuss the management of complete cricotracheal separation based on a case experienced in the east coast region of Malaysia, where this type of injury is rarely encountered.

  • Purpose: Higher Order Thinking Skills is one of the important aspects in education that must be mastered by the students in order to be qualified in competing at international level. Success in mastering HOTS among the students is always linked to preparation of a good and conducive learning environment. However, does this connection impacts the students' HOTS achievement? Therefore, this research is carried out in order to evaluate the relationship between HOTS and learning environment with the main focus on Accounting Principle Elective Subject (MPEI PP). Research design, data and methodology: Research in the form of correlation is implied in this study and it involves 59 Form 5 students that has learned all syllabus in Form 4's MPEI PP. Results: Evaluation of HOTS level is based on Taxonomy Bloom that covers applying skill, analysing skill, evaluating skill, and creating skill. Result from data analysis found that there is a very weak correlation (r = 0.02) between the two variables with regression equation of average grade point = 75.023 + (-.273) Learning Environment. Conclusion: Thus, a non-significant relationship between HOTS and learning environment is successfully proven through correlation and regression statistical analysis.

  • Purpose: This study intends to explore the knowledge distribution in immigrant entrepreneurship in a host country Malaysia. In Malaysia, most immigrants are workers who later started their own businesses. They have a higher tendency to engage in entrepreneurial activities thus knowledge distribution from previous employment is necessary. Research design, data and methodology: This qualitative study using in-depth interview approach was carried out with five immigrant entrepreneurs from Bangladesh conducting business in Malaysia. The data were gathered and analysed using thematic analysis facilitated by ATLAS.ti software. Results: The findings provide useful insights on the significance of knowledge obtained during immigrant entrepreneurs' former employment in the host country, enabling them to identify the needed resources quickly to launch a successful business in a host country. Conclusions: This study contributes to the Knowledge Spillover Theory of Entrepreneurship specifically in the context of immigrant entrepreneurship who have former employment in the same business sector and a proposition is developed. For practicality, the findings provide some insights for immigrants who want to start businesses in the host country which allow them to identify and exploit entrepreneurial opportunities due to knowledge distribution at their former employment in the host country later facilitates successful business establishment there.

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of human life. The pandemic not only caused millions of fatalities and problems but also changed public sentiment and behavior. Owing to the magnitude of this pandemic, governments worldwide adopted full lockdown measures that attracted much discussion on social media platforms. To investigate the effects of these lockdown measures, this study performed sentiment analysis and latent Dirichlet allocation topic modeling on textual data from Twitter published during the three lockdown waves in Malaysia between 2020 and 2021. Three lockdown measures were identified, the related data for the first two weeks of each lockdown were collected and analysed to understand the public sentiment. The changes between these lockdowns were identified, and the latent topics were highlighted. Most of the public sentiment focused on the first lockdown as reflected in the large number of latent topics generated during this period. The overall sentiment for each lockdown was mostly positive, followed by neutral and then negative. Topic modelling results identified staying at home, quarantine and lockdown as the main aspects of discussion for the first lockdown, whilst importance of health measures and government efforts were the main aspects for the second and third lockdowns. Governments may utilise these findings to understand public sentiment and to formulate precautionary measures that can assure the safety of their citizens and tend to their most pressing problems. These results also highlight the importance of positive messaging during difficult times, establishing digital interventions and formulating new policies to improve the reaction of the public to emergency situations.

  • This paper first examines the skewness of Wishart distribution, using Tracy and Sultan(1993)'s results. Second, it investigates the variance-covariance matrix of random matrix $S_Y=YY'$ which has a non-central Wishart distribution. Third, it proposes the exact form of the third moment of the random matrix with non-central Wishart distribution.

  • In this paper, we give some new definitions of $D^*$-metric spaces and we prove a common fixed point theorem for six mappings under the condition of weakly compatible mappings in complete $D^*$-metric spaces. We get some improved versions of several fixed point theorems in complete $D^*$-metric spaces.

  • The large intestine is a home for trillions of microbiota, which confer many benefits on the host, including production of vitamins, absorption of nutrients, pathogen displacement, and development of the immune system. For several decades, germ-free animals have been used to study the interaction between the host and its microbiota. This minireview describes the technical aspects for establishing and maintaining germ-free animals and highlights the advantages and disadvantages for germ-free animals as experimental models.

  • Seven fungicides were compared for the control of downy mildew on midge gourd. All treatments had significantly lower rates of disease progress curves and disease severity levels than that of the control. The highest yields were obtained from crops treated with metalaxyl + mancozeb, fosetyl-Al, and chlorothalonil. These treatments also proved to be the most economical considering the treatment costs.

  • In this paper, we use the moments of order statistics derived by Lieblein (1955) to develop the correlation goodness-of-fit test for the Rayleigh distribution. In such we simulate the percentage points of the test statistics for the one-parameter and two-parameter cases. In addition, we calculate the power of the proposed tests based on some alterative distributions. Finally, we apply the procedures developed in the paper to some real data.
