  • Control of drag farce on a circular cylinder using a detached splitter plate is numerically studied for laminar flow. A splitter plate with the same length as the cylinder diameter(d) is placed horizontally in the wake region. Its position is described by the gap ratio(G/d), where G represents the gap between the cylinder base point and the leading edge of the plate. The drag varies with the gap ratio; it has the minimum value at a certain gap ratio for each Reynolds number. The drag sharply increases past the optimum gap ratio; this seems to be related to the sudden change in bubble size in the wake region. This trend is consistent with the experimental observation currently available in case of turbulent flow. It is also found that the net drag coefficient significantly depends on the variation of base suction coefficient.

  • The attachment of inducer in front of main impeller is a powerful method to improve cavitation performance; however, cavitation surge oscillation with low frequency occurs with blade cavity growing to each throat section of blade passage simultaneously. Then, one conceptual method of installing suction axi-asymmetrical plate has been proposed so as to keep every throat passage away from being unstable at once, and the effect on suppression of the oscillation were investigated. In the present study, cavitation behaviors in the inducer is observed with distributing multi-cameras circumferentially, recording simultaneously and reconstructing multi-photos on one plane field as moving a linear cascade. Observed results are utilized for discussion with other measuring results as casing wall pressure distribution. Then the suppression mechanism of oscillation by installing axi-asymmetrical inlet plate will be clarified in more details.

  • Pressure variation is one of the major sources on noise emission in the axial type oil piston pumps. Therefore, it is necessary that the pressure variation characteristics of the oil hydraulic piston pumps be clarified to reduce the pump noise. Pressure variations in a cylinder at the discharge region and the pump noise were simultaneously measured with discharge pressures and rotational speeds during the pump working. To investigate the effects of the pre-compression and the V-notch in the valve plate, we used the three types of valve plates. In this research, it is clear that the pressure variation characteristics of axial type oil piston pumps is deeply related to the pre-compression and to the V-notch design in valve plate. Therefore, we could reduce the pump noise by using the appropriate pre-compression angle and the notch design that are between the suction port and the discharge port in valve plate.

  • A complex valve dynamic analysis has been performed with a high Pressure reciprocating gas compressor. Valve dynamic equations, which take into account the flow continuity and cylinder pressure fluctuation, have been derived. Flow coefficients of valves has been analyzed, using CFD models. Results have shown that both of the suction and discharge values behave favorably without any fluttering motions.

  • Semiconductor packaging technology is changed rapidly according to the trends of the micro miniaturization of multimedia and information equipment. For I/O limitation and fine pitch limitation, DIP and SOP/QFP are replaced by BGA/CSP. This is one of the surface mount technology(SMT). Solder ball is bumped n the die pad and connected onto mounting board. In ball bump formation, vacuum suction type ball alignment process is widely used, However this type has some problems such as ionization, static electricity and difficulty of fifo(first-input first-out) of solder balls. Seesaw type is reducing these problems and has a structural simplicity and economic efficiency. Ball cartridge velocity and ball aligned plate angle are Important variables to improve the ball alignment Process. In this paper, seesaw-type CSP solder ball loader is developed and the optimal velocity and plate angle are proposed.

  • Design of pre-compression region(trapping region) of the valve plate is an important element to minimize the pressure fluctuation in a cylinder and in discharge process, and pump noise. In this study, we tried to prove what the characteristics of the oil hydraulic pump would be according to the angle of the trapping region. Three kinds of asymmetrical valve plates were used. As a result, we found that by designing the trapping region, the slope of the pressure rise in the cylinder port from low-pressure suction region to high-pressure discharge region is relaxed and the pressure fluctuation width and the discharge pressure pulsation are reduced. Therefore, because the pump gets smooth pressure fluctuation and low fluid Impact, the pump noise is reduce.

  • There is a great deal of merit in CR system but artifact not produced in old system of film or screen newly is created. we studied 3 cases of artifact with CR system in one hospital, Gwangju. In the first case of the delay time and density, As the time was delayed, the density of the artifact was increased up to 67 percent in the natural radiation. The Second, Fading of the artifact decreased 33 percent in the rate of the emission after 10 hours, and the more the time was delayed, the less the quality of image was deteriorated. Third, Artifact was produced by the collimation when the radiologic technologist was performed, and by the Guiding plate and Suction cup when the radiation equipment was done. Therefore, when health care provider have to understand the artifact exactly and check regularly, the quality of the picture and the satisfaction of the medical examination is increased.

  • Experimental results of pulsating pressure behavior inside a chamber have been confirmed by computational work. Inside-cylinder pressure shows unstable condition at low rpm. This is caused by plate-type suction valve. It has effect up to inlet of the chamber. But trembling phenomenon is reduced as the pressure is enlarged by increasing the rpm. Result comparison between experimental and numerical analysis shows pulsation reduction is affected by the chamber. We can confirm that compressible effect of the working flow is shown at chamber inlet by increasing rpm. On the other side, this effect is declined at chamber outlet by increasing rpm. It means outlet pressure is going on balance with atmosphere pressure. Buffer plate-type chamber has efficiency of pulsation flow reduction.

  • Flow of electrically conducting nanofluids is of pivotal importance in countless industrial and medical appliances. Fluctuations in thermophysical properties of such fluids due to variations in temperature have not received due attention in the available literature. Present investigation aims to fill this void by analyzing the flow of copper-water nanofluid with temperature dependent viscosity past a Riga plate. Strong wall suction and viscous dissipation have also been taken into account. Numerical solutions for the resulting nonlinear system have been obtained. Results are presented in the graphical and tabular format in order to facilitate the physical analysis. An estimated expression for skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number are obtained by performing linear regression on numerical data for embedded parameters. Results indicate that the temperature dependent viscosity alters the velocity as well as the temperature of the nanofluid and is of considerable importance in the processes where high accuracy is desired. Addition of copper nanoparticles makes the momentum boundary layer thinner whereas viscosity parameter does not affect the boundary layer thickness. Moreover, the regression expressions indicate that magnitude of rate of change in effective skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number with respect to nanoparticles volume fraction is prominent when compared with the rate of change with variable viscosity parameter and modified Hartmann number.
