Development of the Fuzzy Expert System for the Reinforcement of the Tunnel Construction (터널 시공 중 보강공법 선정용 퍼지 전문가 시스템 개발)

  • In this study, an expert system was developed to predict the safety of tunnel and choose proper tunnel reinforcement system using fuzzy quantification theory and fuzzy inference rule based on tunnel information database. The expert system developed in this study have two main parts named pre-module and post-module. Pre-module decides tunnel information imput items based on the tunnel face mapping information which can be easily obtained in-situ site. Then, using fuzzy quantification theory II, fuzzy membership function is composed and tunnel safety level is inferred through this membership function. The comparison result between the predicted reinforcement system level and measured ones was very similar. In-situ data were obtained in three tunnel sites including subway tunnel under Han river, This system will be very helpful to make the most of in-situ data and suggest proper applicability of tunnel reinforcement system developing more resonable tunnel support method from dependance of some experienced experts for the absent of guide.

Experiments of Egress Behavior When Subway Car Stops on Railroad (지하철 차량 선로 정차 시 피난 행동에 관한 실험)

  • When the subway car stop on track, passengers have to overcome a height of 1.2 m from floor level of the subway car to the level of track for evacuation. In this experiments, participates in the group of twenties or under ages were rapidly jumping down from the subway car. However, Most elderly group were not easy to overcome the height without help of others and some of them were fell and injured. In case of merging flows, the flow rate of the group of twenties was lower than the other cases. If fire occurred in the train and train stopped in the tunnel, it will be needed a lot of total evacuation time because of the heigh difference and wall effect from subway car to outside.

The Study on Changes of Exhaust Efficiency and Fine Particle Concentration at a Ventilation Opening by a Air Curtain Flow in a Subway Model Tunnel (지하철 모사터널에서 에어커튼을 이용한 환기구의 배기효율 및 미세입자 농도 변화 연구)

  • In this study, a new tunnel ventilation method with a high velocity air curtain flow has been investigated for improving the ventilation exhaust efficiency and removing air pollutants in subway tunnels. At upper or lower position right downstream of a main duct connected with a ventilation opening, air curtain flows were suppled into the main duct where the air flow velocity was in the range of 2~6 m/s. Exhaust efficiency was monitored for both cases with and without air curtain flow for different air velocities, locations and injection angles of the air curtain. Particulate matter concentrations (PM10, PM2.5 and PM1.0) were also checked at both the main duct and ventilation opening before and after supplying air curtain flows. Lower air velocity of the main duct flow, higher air velocity of the air curtain led to higher exhaust efficiency and the air curtain condition of 30..inclined injection toward the main flow showed the maximum exhaust efficiency. The exhaust efficiency of about 24% without the air curtain could be improved to about 34% after using the air curtain flow. PM concentration decreased at the main duct and increased at the ventilation opening after using the air curtain flow. Therefore, the suggested method to use air curtain flows in tunnels will be probably one of the promising tools to reduce air pollutants in subway tunnels.

Path Loss Characteristics in Subway Tunnel at 2.65GHz (지하철 터널 환경에서 2.65GHz 대역신호의 경로손실 특성)

  • The research deals with the measurement of electromagnetic wave propagation in subway tunnels at 2.65GHz. Measurements have been conducted in 4 different types of tunnel courses, a straight tunnel, two curved tunnels, with 245m and 500m radius of curvature, and a tunnel that has both straight and curved sections. we found that the path loss exponent for the line-of-sight(LOS) region inside all the tunnels is $1.31{\sim}2.19$. The path loss exponents for LOS regions in the tunnel is lower than $(3{\sim}4)$, which corresponds to the path loss exponent factor for outdoor cellular environments. The path loss exponents of the straight tunnel, two curved tunnels with 245m and 500m radius of curvature are 1.94, 2.92, and 4.34, respectively. This indicates that a smaller radius of curvature in tunnel results in a higher path loss exponent for nonline-of-sight(NLOS) region. The path loss exponents for the NLOS region in the combined and curved tunnel, which have the same radii of cuvature, are 5.88 and 4.34, respectively. Therefore, it can be concluded that the path loss characteristics in tunnel environments are infulenced by the radii of curvature as well as the LOS distance.

  • Maintenance monitoring of the tunnel which offers continuous data during and after tunneling has been applying to tunnels in order to meet the maintenance of tunnel and to confirm continuous security of the tunnel after tunneling. But, the maintenance monitoring of tunnel results for long period is not easy to find, and moreover, the rational analysis method on tunnel monitoring has not been established yet. In this study, the relationships between displacement and stress of the tunnel concrete lining using various analysis methods are compared with maintenance monitoring. The tunnel behavior were measured in the subway tunnel passing comparative soft the weathering and analyzed both security and mechanical characteristics of the tunnel concrete lining. Also, analyzed relationship between residual water pressure applied on tunnel design and one obtained by monitoring.

Pre-grouting for CHI of EPB shield TBM in difficult grounds: a case study of Daegok-Sosa railway tunnel (복합지반 EPB TBM 커터교체를 위한 그라우팅 수행 사례)

  • Railway projects have been consistently increasing in Korea. In relation to this trend, the mechanized tunneling using Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is preferably applied for mining urban areas and passing under rivers. The TBM tunneling under difficult grounds like mixed faces with high water pressure could require ground improvements for stable TBM advance or safe cutter head intervention (CHI). In this study, pre-grouting works for CHI in Daegok-Sosa railway project are presented in terms of the grouting zone design, the executions and the results, the lessons learned from the experience. It should be mentioned that the grouting from inside TBM was carried out several times and turned out to be inefficient in the project. Therefore, grouting experiences from the surface are highlighted in this study. Jet grouting was implemented on CHI points on land, while permeation grouting off shore in the Han River, which mostly allow to access the cutter head of TBM in free air with stable faces. The results of CHI works have been analyzed and the lesson learned are suggested.

  • The circumstance as platform and tunnel is very important in evacuation from passenger train car on fire. The comparison of egress modeling by SIMULEX, PATHFINDER, STEPS was conducted in order to analyze for the influence of platform to egress from subway car. Model subway car is seoul metro subway car. Model platform was designed by code 'Complementary design guide for connecting and convenience facilities, and urban subway station'.

  • Ground vibration at Gil-dong in Seoul induced by the 5th ling of Seoul Subway is predicted using various prediction methods and compared with measured vibration. Also, several issues on the improvement of prediction methods are discussed. Furthermore, as an alternative vibration source, measured vibration acceleration level(VAL) on the tunnel wall of the Bundang line of Seoul Subway is applied to the prediction of the VAL at the location mentioned previously. Then requirements accompanied to the suggestion of the new vibration source appropriate to the condition of Seoul Subway.

  • In the modern society various types of transportation mode are utilized, among them the subway system is the one of the main transportation mode which more than 7.21 million people ride a day. Because of interests on the indoor air quality (IAQ) of underground public facilities, concerns on IAQ of subway system by many people are increasing. There are several approach to improve IAQ of subway station, such as installing platform screen door (PSD), frequent tunnel washing-out, and etc, however there has not been any attempt to improve IAQ of subway cabin inside. Most technologies for removing airborne particulate matters are known to be difficult to adopt on the subway cabin since the problem of maintenance cost. Therefore, the ultimate object of this study is a practical development of cabin air cleaning system which can reduce the concentration of airborne particles and harmful gases at the same time. The subway cabin air purifier (SCAP) was developed for removing particulate matters and gases pollutants inside a cabin. The whole system was designed and the roll-filter device was manufactured based on numerical prediction results. It is expected that SCAP could reduce indoor air pollutants in the subway cabin practically and it can be applied to other part of transportation vehicles.
