Accuracy and precision of polyurethane dental arch models fabricated using a three-dimensional subtractive rapid prototyping method with an intraoral scanning technique

  • Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and precision of polyurethane (PUT) dental arch models fabricated using a three-dimensional (3D) subtractive rapid prototyping (RP) method with an intraoral scanning technique by comparing linear measurements obtained from PUT models and conventional plaster models. Methods: Ten plaster models were duplicated using a selected standard master model and conventional impression, and 10 PUT models were duplicated using the 3D subtractive RP technique with an oral scanner. Six linear measurements were evaluated in terms of x, y, and z-axes using a non-contact white light scanner. Accuracy was assessed using mean differences between two measurements, and precision was examined using four quantitative methods and the Bland-Altman graphical method. Repeatability was evaluated in terms of intra-examiner variability, and reproducibility was assessed in terms of interexaminer and inter-method variability. Results: The mean difference between plaster models and PUT models ranged from 0.07 mm to 0.33 mm. Relative measurement errors ranged from 2.2% to 7.6% and intraclass correlation coefficients ranged from 0.93 to 0.96, when comparing plaster models and PUT models. The Bland-Altman plot showed good agreement. Conclusions: The accuracy and precision of PUT dental models for evaluating the performance of oral scanner and subtractive RP technology was acceptable. Because of the recent improvements in block material and computerized numeric control milling machines, the subtractive RP method may be a good choice for dental arch models.

  • 컴퓨터 단층영상에 기반한 임플란트의 삼차원 컴퓨터 유도 수술은 임플란트 가이드를 이용함으로써 수술시 정확도와 편의성을 향상시킨다. 본 증례에서는 최근에 개발된 임플란트 가이드를 제작 프로그램을 이용하여 가이드를 설계하고 아크릴릭 레진을 절삭하는 방식으로 제작하여 임상에 적용하였다. 본 프로그램을 이용한 가이드의 설계와 제작시 이로운 점이 있었기에 이를 보고하는 바이다.

  • We Investigated the current limiting characteristics of the flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) by fault angles. The flux-lock type SFCL consists of the primary and the secondary copper coils wound in parallel through the iron core and YBCO thin film. In this paper, the current limiting characteristics of the flux-lock type SFCL by fault angles in case of the subtractive and the additive polarity windings were compared and analyzed. The flux-lock type SFCL limited fault current more quickly as the fault angles increased. On the other hand, the initial power burden of the superconducting element during the fault increased as the fault angles increased. In addition, we found that the resistance of the flux-lock type SFCL in case of the subtractive polarity winding was more increased than that of the additive polarity winding. The peak current of the fault current in case of the subtractive polarity winding was larger than that of the additive polarity winding.

차감 및 중력 fuzzy C-means 클러스터링을 이용한 칼라 영상 분할에 관한 연구 (Segmentation of Color Image by Subtractive and Gravity Fuzzy C-means Clustering)

  • 칼라 영상 분할의 한 방법으로 fuzzy C-means를 이용한 방법이 많이 연구되었으나, 이 방법은 클러스터의 개수가 정해져야 사용할 수 있는 방법이다. 분할해야 할 데이터가 많은 경우 예비 분할을 수행하여 예비 분할 되지 않는 데이터들에 대해서 상세 분할을 fuzzy C-means를 사용하여 분할 하나 예비 분할된 데이터의 클러스터 중심과 상세 분할로 만들어진 클러스터의 중심과는 연계성이 없어진다. 본 연구에서는 이것을 보완하기 위하여 차감 클러스터링을 사용하여 칼라 영상의 클러스터의 개수와 중심을 구한 후, 이것을 이용하여 영상을 예비 분할하고 중력을 가진 fuzzy C-means를 사용하여 분할되지 않은 나머지 부분과 클러스터의 중심을 최적화 시켜 분할하는 알고리듬을 제안한다. 제안된 방법의 정성적인 평가를 수행하여 본 논문에서 제시된 방법이 우수함을 보인다.

Investigation of nuclear material using a compact modified uniformly redundant array gamma camera

  • We developed a compact gamma camera based on a modified uniformly redundant array coded aperture to investigate the position of a $UO_2$ pellet emitting characteristic X-rays (98.4 keV) and ${\gamma}-rays$ (185.7 keV). Experiments using an only-mask method and an antimask subtractive method were conducted, and the maximum-likelihood expectation maximization algorithm was used for image reconstruction. The images obtained via the antimask subtractive method were compared with those obtained using the only-mask method with regard to the signal-to-noise ratio. The reconstructed images of the antimask subtractive method were superior. The reconstructed images of the characteristic X-rays and the ${\gamma}-rays$ were combined with the obtained image using the optical camera. The combined images showed the precise position of the $UO_2$ pellet. According to the self-absorption ratios of the nuclear material and the minimum number of effective events for image reconstruction, we estimated the minimum detection time depending on the amount of nuclear material.

  • COF에 사용되는 구리배선은 폴리이미드 필름에 subtractive 방법을 이용하여 만들어지고 있으나 선폭이 작아짐에 따라 subtractive 방법은 폭방향으로 에칭 현상으로 인하여 사용에 제한이 되고 있다. Semi-additive 방법은 리소그래피 공정과 전기도금범을 사용하여 구리배선을 만드는 방법으로 $10-40{\mu}m$의 좁은 선폭에 대한 연구를 하였다. AZ4620과 PMER900의 두꺼운 PR을 사용하였으며 전기도금법을 이용하여 구리 배선을 형성하였다. 기존의 용액은 높은 잔류응력으로 인하여 구리도금층에 crack이 발생하였으며 via filling에 사용된 도금액을 사용한 경우 잔류응력이 낮아서 crack이 없는 구리배선을 얻을 수 있었다. 기지층의 에칭시 배선의 폭방향으로의 에칭 현상은 관찰되지 않았다.

Accuracy of provisional crowns made using stereolithography apparatus and subtractive technique

  • PURPOSE. To compare and analyze trueness and precision of provisional crowns made using stereolithography apparatus and subtractive technology. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Digital impressions were made using a master model and an intraoral scanner and the crowns were designed with CAD software; in total, 22 crowns were produced. After superimposing CAD design data and scan data using a 3D program, quantitative and qualitative data were obtained for analysis of trueness and precision. Statistical analysis was performed using normality test combined with Levene test for equal variance analysis and independent sample t-test. Type 1 error was set at 0.05. RESULTS. Trueness for the outer and inner surfaces of the SLA crown (SLAC) were $49.6{\pm}9.3{\mu}m$ and $22.5{\pm}5.1{\mu}m$, respectively, and those of the subtractive crown (SUBC) were $31.8{\pm}7.5{\mu}m$ and $14.6{\pm}1.2{\mu}m$, respectively. Precision values for the outer and inner surfaces of the SLAC were $18.7{\pm}6.2{\mu}m$ and $26.9{\pm}8.5{\mu}m$, and those of the SUBC were $25.4{\pm}3.1{\mu}m$ and $13.8{\pm}0.6{\mu}m$, respectively. Trueness values for the outer and inner surfaces of the SLAC and SUBC showed statistically significant differences (P<.001). Precision for the inner surface showed significance (P<.03), whereas that for the outer surface showed no significance (P<.58). CONCLUSION. The study demonstrates that provisional crowns produced by subtractive technology are superior to crowns fabricated by stereolithography in terms of accuracy.

차감 동작 기법 기반의 효율적인 R파 검출 (Efficient R Wave Detection based on Subtractive Operation Method)

  • QRS 영역 중 R파는 ECG 신호 중 가장 큰 대표 신호라 할 수 있으며, 이 점을 기준으로 다양한 특징점을 검출하기 때문에 R파의 검출성능을 높이기 위해 많은 노력을 기울여 왔다. 하지만 R파 검출은 여러 종류의 잡음성분들로 인하여 이를 분석하는데 어려움을 준다. 또한 QRS 영역의 진폭과 유사한 T파나 P파를 R파로 오인함으로써 검출의 어려움이 발생한다. ECG 신호처리는 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어 자원에 대한 효율성을 고려해야 하며, 소형화 및 저 전력을 위해 단순해야 한다. 즉, 최소한의 연산량으로 정확한 R파를 검출함으로써 다양한 부정맥을 분류할 수 있는 적합한 알고리즘의 설계가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 차감 동작 기법(Subtractive Operation Method, 이하 SOM) 기반의 심전도 신호의 R파 검출 방법을 제안한다. 이를 위해 형태 연산을 통한 전처리 과정과 경험적 문턱값과 차감신호를 통해 R파를 검출하였으며, 검출의 효율성을 위하여 RR 간격을 이용한 동적 역탐색 기법을 적용하였다. 제안한 알고리즘의 R파 검출 성능을 평가하기 위해서 MIT-BIH 부정맥 데이터베이스를 사용하였다. 성능평가 결과, R파는 평균 99.41%의 검출결과가 나타났다.

특징형상기반 다중해상도 모델링의 상세수준 결정기준에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Criteria of the Level-Of-Detail in Feature-based Multi-resolution Modeling)

  • In feature-based multi-resolution modeling, the features are rearranged according to a criterion for the levels of detail (LOD) of multi-resolution models. In this paper, two different LOD criteria are investigated and discussed. The one is the volumes of subtractive features, together with the precedence of additive features over subtractive features. The other is the volumes of features, regardless of whether the feature types are subtractive or additive. In addition, the algorithms to define and extract the LOD models based on the criteria are also described. The criterion of the volumes of features can be used for a wide range of applications in CAD and CAE in virtue of its generality.

In Vitro Selection of Cancer-Specific RNA Aptamers

  • In this study, nuclease-resistant RNA aptamers that are specific for Jurkat T leukemia cells were selected by a subtractive systemic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX) method. A randomized nuclease-resistant RNA library was incubated with normal peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in each round to preclude RNAs that recognize the common cellular components on the surface of normal and cancer cells. The precluded RNAs were used for the selection of Jurkat T cell-specific aptamers, and the specific RNAs were then gradually enriched from start to the following selections. After 16 rounds of the subtractive SELEX, the selected aptamers were found to preferentially bind to Jurkat T cells, but not to the normal PBMC, evidenced by fluorescence-activated cell sorting analysis. Thus, the subtractive SELEX can be used to identify ligands to cancer-specific biological markers without prior knowledge of the nature of markers. The aptamers could be applied to specific cell sorting, tumor therapy, and diagnosis, and moreover, to find cancer cell-specific markers.
